word of warning: There is a corp that is ganking people in empire for t2 bpos. Your t2 bpo is not safe just because you are in empire.
I advise you to have a scout when moving bpos in empire. Look for a BS on the gate just sitting there. Instas won't work because they have a bombinix setup.
MO: Interceptor locks you with passive targeter and scans your cargo. They blow you up as you try to jump, or on the other side as you try to take off, the bs, of course, gets owned by concord, then their accomplice swoops in and grabs your can. The t2 bpo is worth a lot more than the battleship(s) they lose.
Why putting your bpo in a secure container in your hold won't work: They use a cargo scanner which doesn't see the container, only what's inside 8). Test it yourself if you don't believe me.
We had to learn this the hard way. I am posting this so you don't.
If you move t2 bpos, do it in a tanked battleship or transport ship and use a scout, even in empire.

For best security use a scout, transport the BPO in a covert ops and use instas. The best way is to avoid being scanned.

why not just use a really hard tanked raven or apoc to transport the bpo?
Raven with hard shield tank + 5x 1600mm tungston should do the job pretty easy.
btw what bpo did you loose?

Any Battleship is suitable for moving T2 BPO's or other low volume/high worth items around in high sec. Slap on extenders, plates and passive hardeners (so you don't need to activate them). Also a damage control when they get fixed.
That'll easily keep you alive long enough for Concord to save your ass.

Maybe someone should create a bunch of 1-run T2 BPC's and bring them to these guys. One at a time of course. With a gank fleet ready to pop the guy who opens the can.

I heard you say they can see through a container. However, what I don't understand is what good that would do them. Or are you saying the contents fall outside the can when the ship is blown?

you can collect the can, its not anchored when the ship pops. if its password protected you can repack at a station and the content drops out. cans doesnt help a bit.
that said, i think its good that you cant afk transport in a lonly indus.

best bet is to leave the BPO where it is and simply copy BPCs from there and distribute that way.

why not just say which corp instead of being all mysterious.
I've seen battleships hanging motionless at a gate. Belonging to people I know. Who had reached the end of their autopilot and had no reason to expect attack as they were in 0.9 so they were afk when they reached their destination.

oh and by the way inties work fine for moving BPO's in empire if you are not AFK...
try a claw with all slots fitted with 24m/s nanofibers 1 small t2 cap battery 1 Gistii 1MN MWD and a t2 cloak in high
Such a claw is the fastest ship in eve and tops 6km/s depending on your skills implants etc... + it warps faster then a shuttle...no one can lock it and scan it quick enough if you use insta's and are not AFK.

The best way to move bpos without much hassle and safe from scans, is to make a courier mission for them restricted to yourself. The goods end up in a nice wrapped package, which noone can scan from outside.

The plastic wrap thing is a good tip. But regardless, I'd rather a small, hard to lock inty than a slow behemoth of a BS to move my high value items around. I rarely have to move such things, but when I do, it's not in a BS. Cov Ops is a good option too however. I'm of the "You can't kill what you can't catch" mindset -------------

Put BPO in small secure can, they cannot SEE INSIDE THE CAN when they can.. all they see is the small secure can. if you do go pop. anchor the thing \o/
Or.. be a real ass move through there.. call the can BPO holder.. whack some bookmarks in it.. when they pop your ship to get the can.. let them have it and watch the smack about the fact they blew up a BS for a small secure and a bookmark... for laffs name the bookmark something really insulting (within the rules..)

Didnt u read the post?? To put stuff in a can (secure can whatever) helps NOTHING. If u cargo scan a ship u dont see cans at all. U only see whats in the cans and whats in the cargo! Try it out.

yep but look at it this way... it goes pop, you as the suicider lose nothing(well minimal anyway on a cheap BS with smartbombs) if it succeeds, you get a BPO worth a couple billion(give or take)
I guess the recon ships would be useful for moving T2 bpo's, cloaked warping cruiser!

Yeah good idea... NOT
1st 7,5km smarties are more then 100M p.u. second if you fit 2-3 of those to be efficient at all doesn't that defy the point of a cheap BS ? lastly your smartbomb BS will not catch any inty pilot that is not flying AFK... a proper insta + autopilot on arrival will nt get killed by a smartbomb BS...

actually the safest way to move stuff in empire atm is a freighter, not only do they have alot o hp, but they do not drop cans when popped. So even if they scan and know you are carrying a fortune, unless you are a war target (another topic all together), there is nothing to be gained by shooting you.

Also the forces needed to gank a freighter are significant. One BS wont cut it.

That's it.
Or move it afk in a freighter or Tanked Occator.
It's an old trick that were used by ATUK French Wing last year ganking ppl in 1.0 after scanning them. Suicide BS's use smartbombs (concord instajam very often) so damage is limited.

I would advice on using either covert ops, or reasonably tanked ships (even a BS with nanofibers and shield tank would do it well).
Inties are not secure, although harder to cargo scan. You cannot fire smartbombs close to the gate, but you can sit at 15km, or 40km, front of the gate.
And with good timing, you will catch substantial percentage of ships instawarping past you.
Odd side effect is, that even though the ship blows up at your location, the can will end up pretty many kilometers away.

I actually have had discussions of doing stuff like this. A real, Black Op thing, only Alts, new corp or something. The ultimate Mercenary deal. Sort of. Drop 20 BS on a freighter (or what ever it would take) to kill it. The price would be insaine of course but some selective ppl would have the money and the grudge to afford it.
Well...good luck. Both sides.

I recently got a double TL2-BPO, some boring ammo or something like that. Bored as I am I took an interceptor, tanked it to hell and travelled the route between Madimilire and Oursulaert for one day, up and down, up and down, in different chars and different fittings, always with the bpo inside.
I made nine Battleships die and 20 smaller ships without firing one shot. Total damage if all has been insured: at least 300mio.
I developed a special handling towards secure passing gates, no details for you though. Nothing stops a tanked speed interceptor. Most likely I'll stop doing this soon as people along the route have gotten the message and don't attack people with "my" BPO in the cargo any longer. I orbited one of them for half an hour who personally lost one BS and one cruiser to me the day before.

Right first of all if its just blue prints you are hauling forget about using secure cans and definately forget about using a BS. All you need is bookmarks and a covert ops ship. 1,Select your bookmark to warp to gate, 2,turn on your cloak 3,Jump through gate 4, Select your bookmark to warp to gate, 5,turn on your cloak. There is no ship in the game that can lock you down in the time it takes you to click F2 or manually click the cloak after you have selected to warp to your bookmark.

Rule 1 of Eve: there is no such thing as 'safe space'.
But really, the scout is not even necessary, just fly in a ship that can't be ganked before Concord pwns your opponent. That would be basically anything except for haulers and frigates. To play it safe, take a BS with some hardeners and you should be fine at all times (like you say, indeed). And don't take the shortcut through 0.4....
This should be obvious, I mean, what do you expect? I know someone who was scanning haulers and other ships in his ceptor a few days ago, within 15 mins he noticed at least 4 haulers containing over 300M worth of stuff if you would kill them (not even talking t2 BPO's), which is about as trivial to do as you just described. How hard is it to slap a few smartbombs on a BS? The risk is about as low as it can get and the rewards are great. Haulers can even be ganked by suicide frigates, reducing the risk to absolutely zero. I mean, what do you expect when people are that stupid!? Someone is bound to take advantage of it sooner or later.
Also, research agents are usually clustered around a few systems so it's kinda obvious where you'd have to look for t2 BPO's
I always assumed all this is obvious, but apparently the warning is needed
