No offence (or false modesty) but they couldn't afford me They'd have to pay me double what I currently earn to even contemplate doing end-user support anyway - that way lies madness

Typical of peoples attitudes on the net, they wont accept being beaten and start getting malicious, it happens everywhere. Once a person no longer has to look you in the eye they think they can do what the **** they want, None of this would happen at LANS for instance (i would hope anyway). Problem is, youngsters playing net games and picking up all the bad language, seeing others treat others like **** and think its alright to behave like that. So they grow up like this and dont change :S. One only has to play counterstrike for instance and this kind thing happens all the time :/

Anyway - sorry for taking it off-topic.
Jim should be contacting his ISP and [email protected] initially. They should be the ones dealing with this, not CCP. He'll get nowhere with Road Runner so hopefully this idiot is flooding him with enough traffic that it's causing problems at the local end of his cableco. If that is the case then his ISP should be talking directly to Road Runner. Hell, you never know - they may actually get a response.

You all know that the offender will be an immature kid whos not old enough to sign up for the game themselves, they'll be using dads credit card and probably dads internet connection.
People who do this sort of thing really do sicken me. They're not only ruining your gaming experience, but also ruining your net connection for anyone else in your family who may share it.
It's pathetic.
I'd recommend keeping your logs and sending a copy to the offenders ISP, also send copies to your ISP and inform both that you've sent logs to both ISP's.
Maybe they'll take action and cancel the offenders internet account.
I doubt there is much CCP could do about this, after all how can they prove that this DOS attack is taking place? It's really down to you contacting your ISP and their ISP and explaining the problem.
I wish you the best of luck with this, I really hope you get this persons internet account cancelled.

Total lamer, he contacted me on IRC as "Aona". Can't win in game, so he attacks my internet connection instead. CCP should ban him for attacking my ISP. This is total BS.
Pathetic.
Lag some one on purpose and get banned? Then m0o should all be banned, they used the cc lag exploit for weeks.
Banned for attacking your ISP? That is not a CCP problem, its your ISP's problem to solve and seek legal remedy.
You can't base all the internet lag issues on CCP's doorstep, or they will be forced to ban most of the world (sobig and msblaster caused this on millions of systems), and run cable to each customers door for a private line straight to the CCP server cluster, with no internet usage, all to avoid the lag from nasty little script kiddies....get real ...fear the evil monkey in your hanger...

You want a non CCP issue to be reflected in the game?
Sorry, this is not a CCP issue in any way shape or form. ...fear the evil monkey in your hanger...

Edited by: Karen de Winter on 30/08/2003 15:19:15 I don;t see what this has to do with CCP though, other than the fact that it would have been started because of the game. It's like claiming that the company responsible for developing Lineage or whatever is also responsible for policing the korean murders due to the game. It didn't happen on CCP's servers or network, nor did it happen ingame or because of the way the game works.
The responsibilty for following this up must lie in the fact that DoS attacks are surely illegal, and it is therefore your responsibility to follow it up with the police or your ISP.

If this was a FA member and you can bring me proof of his Char name i will move to have him kicked from the Alliance.
On behalf of FA i appologize for this nevertheless.
Next time Jim, come at a less ungodly hour than 6:30am when i could barely keep my eyes up :-p woulda loved fighting your crew.
Read the Rules Of Conduct and Terms Of Usage

You know.. I went to bed right before everyone left to play with Fountain - I'm sorry I missed it, because I'd like to be in your bull**** "Omg he h4xed me! Exploit! Give me back my stuff that I'm too sorry to defend" crap..
Try again. You carebears will never cease to amaze me the extent you go to make you look better, and/or us worse.

still back to the person who initiated this attack
what action is CCP going to take?
And obviously you weren't listening..
Openning a DCC Chat - Regardless of the network. It will display your IP, and the person your connecting to's IP.
Complete easy to get the IP.. but no.. you don't actual 'attack' through IRC.. they went through other objectives.

Devs, and GM called it an exploit, weeks after they changed how the cc's could be ejected. Sorry to burst your griefers bubble, but it was an exploit, and CCP failed to enforce the EULA in fear of losing even more of the client base.
