This thread is a starter for the [RMR] Ship Fitting thread.
The Basilisk is suitable for various fittings, depending upon the support application in which it is being used.
Given the function of the Basilisk (supplying cap and shields) the most critical thing is to ensure that you have enough cap. The basilisk is blessed with a naturally good cap recharge, but boosting this is reccommended to help deal with rapidly changing requirements for support.
So, your choices are: 1) Fit a Large Named Cap Battery 2) Fit cap rechargers (good named or Tech 2) 3) Fit one or two cap Power Relays
In the mid slots, a Typical setup might be:
Medium T2 Shield Booster T2 Photon Scattering Hardener Large cap Battery II T2 or Eutectic cap recharger Gravimetric Sensor Booster (if you are jammed, you are useless)
Lows might be any of the following (in order of postive effect on the cap): CPRs PDU IIs RCU IIs - Only use RCUIIs if you can't fit the ship due to grid WCS if u are a pussie who wants to gimp his setup.
Hi Slots.
T2 Med Shield Arrays (up to 6) and the most efficient module currently available for this ship (excluding the small gistii transporter)
Fit 3 or 4 meds T2s, then mix and match... you might like one Large Named Cap Transfer Array, plus an off-line med Armour repairer (the cap recharge of the Basilisk will mean that you can off and on-line mods very rapidly)
A cloak is an option that you might want to consider, but the reduced lock speed and targetting delay after uncloaking might cost a corp-mate his ship and pod... so think carefully before u take this route.
Hope that this is of some use to prospective logistics pilots out there, please feel free to add your comments or setups particularly if you can actually fly one of these ships.
Sorry I cant quote grid, cap etc etc, as I am at work.
My relevant skills are L4 Logistics and L4 emission systems

very theorical setup Pistonbroke since large capacitor batteries 2 are not out
I have logistics 4/energy transfer 4 and this is my setup for energy transfer :
High : medium 'regard' power projector x4; arbalest assault missile launcher, arbalest rocket launcher Medium : large shield booster 2, cap recharger 2, medium capacitor battery 2 x 3 Low : capacitor power relays x 2.
I know that the relays are griefing the boost bonus, but this ship has to be a battery : it has 2529 capacitor recharging in 92 seconds : 66 nrj/sec ! Of course it can run its shield booster forever while in operation (it consumes 37,7 nrj/sec) and the recharge rate is 49,3 shield/second.
what this ship can do : Run shield booster and 2 energy transfers arrays forever, transfering 43,2 nrj/sec Run shield booster and 3 energy transfers arrays for a few minutes, transfering 64,8 nrj/sec Run 4 energy transfers arrays forever transfering 86,4 nrj/sec (!) and the shield booster quite often (50 seconds per minute) If you remove the launchers and fit 2 more energy transfer instead, the ship still can use the 6 transfers arrays forever, transfering an awesome 129,6nrj/sec! (in this case the shield booster should not be used to not kill the capacitor)
the transfer range is 36km
Support ships are underestimated

Thanks for pointing out my error, I guess I get used to putting an II after stuff
The setup though (apart from that bit) is not theoretical, I used a large named battery, and have several Basilisks (Basilii?).
The transfer range though, I think you need to check, mine with med tech II shield transfer arrays is around 51 km, and a large cap transfer array will do about the same (so if you ain't got T2 arrays, get some.... the amount transferred is significantly greater also).
I am desperate to get my hand on T2 larges of either flavour... if someone has either BPO, please start producing......
And I couldn't agree more, the logistics ship IS underrated.... next stop.... Gallenty logistics...

CPRs in the lows, active hardeners, a large shield extender, combination shield and cap transferers in the highs, and a BS partner to boost your shields remotely when you are taking fire.

I have followed the Osprey setup shown on the pic but lack of CPU forced me to put a cap transfer arraw and a small NOS (leftover really).
One hting I noticed is the lack of booster/repairer...
Any setup where I can survive a bit more if I take this ship into PvP?

Looks good. The only thing I would say is that eutectics on a dirt cheap cruiser with no tank seems a bit daft. I'd go F-B10s at max, but then I am tight |

This is very iteresting. In fact when I was young (more than 1.5 year ago) I used Large Cap Battery II for DuraMaller setup. I remember this very vell. But indeed when I tried to find t2 Large Batteries for my basilisk I found nothing at the market.
Could anybody provide some information about what is happened with this modules?
Thank you in advance.

This is a pve shield booster/loot collector setup I use while ratting in 0.0:
High: 3x Medium Shield Transporter II, 1x Medium 'Regard' I Power Projector, 2x Small Tractor Beam I
Mid: 1x 10mn Afterburner II, 1x Large Peroxide I Capacitor Power Cell, 1x Large C5-L Emergency Shield Overload I, 2x Cap Rechargers (how expensive you need depends on your skills)
Low: 2x Power Diagnostic System II
Can run everything but the shield booster 23/7 with cap to spare and move around picking up loot at 500-600m/s. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So would Medium T2 Transporters be better than the Small Gistii one? Any explanations available?

Shields, weapons, this is because we were generally talking PvP setups, where you might need to repair fast and warp/jump back in, or put a few dings into an inty that's trying to hold you in place

I have a handful of Gistii smalls, and they are less effective in the following areas:
shield repaired per sec Cap/shield repaired range
In fact, I seem to remember when I looked at these with a view to using them, they were actually less effective than a std small shield transfer array.

With good cap skills and lots of isk (and used for pve where you can avoid aggro) it is possible to get 4 Large Shield transfers to run constantly on the Basilisk.
You do need t2 PDS (for grid I think) and 4 Cap Recharger 2's in med's. But still being able to transfer 1280 shield every 5 seconds to 60km range is a VERY useful ability.

Edited by: Satorina on 07/08/2006 11:29:36 I've tried that with shield emission systems at lvl 4 (my other relevant engineering skills are already maxed out ofc), was able to keep it up indefinitely. Capacity stabilizes around the 39% strangely enough.... There will be a plausable mathematical explanation, but it eludes me :)
Thnx for the info.

I got a question, I know there are Faction Energy transfer thingies, I just got one recently, the DB one. However, are there faction shield transporters as well? I never seen one.

I know about Gist small ones, I meant the Medium Faction Shield Transporters, not the regular named stuff. In all the years I have never seen it, kinda like the regular large Named ones either .

Here's how you boost 256 shields every second without having to turn it off
#1. Train Cap Skills #2. Train Logistics Skill #3. Train Electronics #4. 6 - Medium Shield Transporter II 5 - Eutectic Cap Rechare Array/ Cap Recharger II 2 - Capacitor Power Relay
Yes the Cap Rechargers are expensive... but do you want to be known as the Booster that couldn't Boost?
This is also mainly a PVE/Complex setup.
PS: Give me Large Shield Transporter II's plz

well i've got
3 large t1 shield transfers 3 medium t2 shield transfers
3 eutectic cap rechargers 2 f-b10 cap rechargers
1 t1 capacitor relay 1 t1 power diagnostic
This all runs forever with:
Logistics 5 Energy Managment 1 Energy Syetsms Operation 4 Shield emission systems 4
You therefore get 1536 shield every 4.75 seconds (roughly) Which is 323.4 shield every second
All of this is at a range of 59km with the large transporters and 51km with the medium.
This can tank a single ship in the angel bonus stage quite easily ;)

OK just to give another viewpoint since training is always a PITA at anytime.
Here is what i consider the best PvE support setup to Total Training time(non loot collector)
Highs 2 Large Shield Transporter 1's 4 Medium Shield Tranporter 2's
(Total generation - 1408 Cap) Mids 5 FB-10 Cap Regenerators.
(17.5% cap recharge each) Lows 2 Cap power relays
(20% cap recharge each)
Gave me a battery of 1320 cap with recharge time of 47 seconds
All Tranporters can run continuously forever giving 299DPS (transfer) to shields.
Tank your raven to 75% resis and you effectively can tank 1196 dps damage which aint to shabby.
The Skills my alt uses are
Logistics IV Shield Emission System IV Energy System Operations IV Energy Management IV Engineering V
As you can see other than the PITA skills (Cruiser V, Long Range targeting V and Sig Analysis V) there is very little long term training skills as all the shield/energy transfer/generation are at level 4 only, saving a shed load of time.
Add to that limited cost in the parts used on the ship, and you can throw the setup together for 40mil.
28mil for ship 100k for Larges tech 1's 600k for Med tech 2's 1.5-2mil for the FB10's 10k for cprs
While ive no doubt you can push another 7.5% DPS out of the ship with level V logistics (Level 6 skill 24-28 days) there is another way to do it. You could lose a CPR for a Powder diag II and add another large tech 1 to the top to get to the max 1536 transfer rate, but you would also have to factor in the cost of using 5x Cap Recharger II's at 10-12 mil a pop and a PDUII at 4-5 mil to this setup. (the 5 Cap IIs/1 PDUII replace the lost Cap % from the CPR exactly to within 0.5%)
Your ship costs start going through the roof with the last setup.
Overall im happy with my comprimised cheapo/low training time setup, now i just have to figure out if its worth putting an A/B on.

Shield and Cap recharge rates are not constant, rather they fluxuate(sp?) depending on the level. The best recharge rate appears to be between 30-50%. From some numbers I ran I looks as if the rate is ~2.4x the base recahrge rate when between that range. So dont worry if your cap or shileds appear to drop fast, it will level out. Additinally, if your cap or shields fall under 30% its time to start thinking of a way to get them back up or get out.
