It's a tempest, If you don't know how to fit your tempest. Then i can't help you at ALL, with your machariel fitting. It's faster, it tracks better.
That's about the difference. That and the Extra lowslot. If you can't see/Figure out the benifit of a 7th lowslot on one of your already 'working' tempest setup, then move along and give me your machariel.
That's all. Good luck

Post some real fittings, Kill, instead of saying this each time the thread comes up. Then sticky a Tempest fitting topic because that's bassicly what the machariel is.
It's KilROCK by the way. Get new glasses if you see 2 L's.

you really can't beat this. K.I.S.S.
every module have a purpose on it.
only variation weirda have done is having a plate down low too (sacrificing one of 3xAdaptives and leaving 2xgyro)... you pretty much have grid for a couple of cruiser left over... __ Weirda ...balanced NOS change... Fix Assault Ship 4th Bonus and More!

I actually use 800mms on my Machariel as opposed to the dual650s I had on the tempest as the Machs tracking bonus makes those hit well enough and I like the slightly higher DPS and slightly lower ammo consumption. That is a mission running setup though, the small ammo clip prolly makes that unsuitable for PvP (Not like I could understand anyone taking a Mach into PvP though...)

6 800mm repeatings 2 heavy nos
1x EM hardener 3x Invul Field II's 1x XL booster II
4x PDU II 3x Gyro II
edit: this setup is really better for sniping with 1400's where tackling isnt a big deal, but it tanks like no other.

I like:
6 x 800mmII, 2 heavy nos
mwd, web, scram, ecm X 2
large armor rep, 2 hardner (i like passive), 2 gyro, plate, rcuII
Think that fit before, if not drop the plate for a third gyro.

what about ab, xl booster, em and invul II? that way you're still mobile (and as it's a mach you should pimp it with an x-type ab) while still tanking well.

Hmm that reminds me:
6 x 1400mmII, 2 free highs,
afterburner, 2 x sb II, 2 x tracking computer II,
med rep II, 3 gyros, 2 tracking enhancers, 1 rcuII.
Tested it on a corp mate in empire, hits frigs with mwd on going at full transversal to you at anything over 50ks. Tracking ftw :)

Edited by: Jet Collins on 10/02/2006 13:49:19 I recently tryed this to max my damage. My fitting skills are Maxed.
High: 6 1400t2 2 Cruise
Mid: 3 tracking comps t2 AB t2 Sensor Boost t2 I think.
Low Slots 3 Gyro t2 Med Armor Repairer 1 or 2 RCUt2 I'm pretty sure I got it all to fit with one. The reason for the meduim repairer 1 named BCS. Last slot hardner I think.
Sorry that I'm not positive on the set up, I'm at work and I mainly made the set up to kill Amar in a mission and was try for max damage. Its not a great set up but its pretty fun to watch targets melt.
Just looked at the post above... ya much of the same sorry :)

with a ship that costs what a machariel costs, tanking is usualy my priority, and 1 em+ 1 invul isnt enough for me, however, this this is very capable of putting its lows to use with mean armor tanks, as previously suggested in the thread.

...look. if ya wanna shield tank in a sexy ship, go buy a fleet temp. the mach has 7 lows. use them.
either wicked armor tank and close range setup (any of the above will do. i prefer to balance a bit of cap recharge instead of injector, and w/ same train of though, nos not msls (unless you dont like 4tw :P )
now, i would like to point out that 1400s will hit harder on this ship than anything in the game. period. toss 2 nanos down low, good named AB in mid, then do the 2xfaction sensor boost 2x faction track comps. track enhance II down low and 3 best gyros you can find. depending on your skills will dictate what you are left w/. but one interceptor at a gate can seem pretty unthreatening untill he slows you down long enough for a mach to uncloak and light you up in no time flat.
425's are for losers Machariel 4tw

yeah sarm. i think i'm bangin a 16.5 dm @ .025 rad/sec. Lots of hard hits, doesnt really miss. tracking is (and has been) the key to using large proj effectively (that an insane SP in gunnery)
AC for pvp is most practical. saves on PG for rediculous armor tank + nossy + ab. w/ plenty of mids open.
and yeah. do not fly this into fleet battle. you will fly home in pod (if you 'fly' home at all)

My basic Mach setup, not my sniper setup mind you which I'll keep for myself and people that have managed to kill them :p
6 1400 IIs, 2 rocket launchers with defenders(does a number on cruise ravens ) 1 target painter II, 1 x-large shield booster II, 2 tracking comp IIs, 1 shadow serp sensor booster 1 pdu 2, 6 gyro IIs, sometimes swap one for a med armor rep(if operating without support) or a local nano
And to the person who said he couldn't understand taking a mach into pvp, I pity you, why else would you get one? There are far better PVE ships, the Machariel was designed to be king of the battelfield

No sounds like someone hasn't actually watched the numbers and just believed everything ccp has told you... put that many on, and take one off, yes there is a penalty for having that many, does your ROF and damage still go up, YES, is it as much as pre RMR, no, but damage and ROF is damage and ROF, every little bit helps. It never actually goes down like ccp said it would, hence their stacking penalty is still borked, which is why they are addressing it YET AGAIN this coming patch...

Edited by: KilROCK on 11/02/2006 17:27:17 I did watch the number and i came to the conclusion the increase is abysmal and fitted tracking enhancer/pdu instead.
they didn't say it would go down, they said the increase after a 4th damage mod would be minimal, and it is. Enough to make me want to fit a module worth using.
And they aren't modifying the way damage modules stack in the upcoming patch. Don't know where you got that info from.

Read the latest dev blog m8, Dev Blog , oveur specifically mentions adjusting stacking yet again, and yes to some that small amount of difference would seem abysmal, but that small difference has saved me more often then a little bit of tracking or anything else would, without slowing me down or degrading performance in some other area.

I think you need to get up to date because that doesn't mean damage mod at all, More like the scorpion and raven using 2-3 shield amp + cap relays, since the stacking is all bugged and it allows you to run a tank forever.
Once again, your 6 gyros are useless and that doesn't even concern them.

Edited by: Morlock on 03/03/2006 16:25:26 I use this setup for pve.
6x 1400IIs, 2x arbalest cruise large SBII, 2x invulII, sensor booster II, ABII 4x PDUIIs, 2x GyroII, Tracking EnhancerII
5 small ecm drones for emergency exit, 5 medium drones for anti-frig
Works really well. If you want more tank, switch the AB for another invulII and a sensor booster for a large shield extender, and then switch the gyros and tracking enhancers for a full rack of PDUII and one damage control unit.
This will all barely fit(100%cpu) with maxed skills in fitting.

I've been having fun ratting with a blaster-thron and figured that I could basiclly follow the same ideas.
Now that I have a BPC of this fine ship, I figured I'd go for a similar idea as my successful 'thron.
6x Dual 650s (Best I can afford/loot) 2x Heavy NOS (ditto)
1x Named MWD 1x Large Cap Booster (for the MWD run up to the target) 1x Webber (X5 or better) 2x ECM (rat specific)
1x Large T2 repper 3x Gyrostab IIs 3x N-Type active Hardners (Rat specific)

5 Million? No....it didnt. If you take the ammount of mins that you used to build your Domi, and multiply each mineral by the best market price you could have got for that mineral, then that is the cost of your Dominix.
Not flaming or anything, its just in my experience it tends to be cheaper for me to sell the mins required to build any ship to the highest bidder, and then to buy the cheapest ship on the market.

This will all barely fit(100%cpu) with maxed skills in fitting.
is this setup working good for you on missions? why shield tank instead of armor tanking? how do your turrets track against the frigates?

See relevant Tempest threads, as the Machariel is pretty much that. I'll give you a hint, though: the extra low slot is not for fitting more warp core stabilizers.

When I first saw the difference of dps between 425mm and 650mm was about 20 dps I thought 425's would be the better choice since they use less grid and have better tracking. But When you are fighting a well tanked Bs they will boost/rep around 10,000 armour or shield. Then the difference in time it takes to kill 10,000+6000 hitpoints with good resistances becomes a minute or two which is a very big difference.
ofc this is assuming you are one on one against another bs which is a narrow possibility. Against a cruiser or something with a smaller number of hitpoints 650mm would shine even more because you probably wont need to reload. And often people calculate the dps of Ac's taking reload time into account making guns with a smaller clip less effective.
Being more realistic, assuming you are in a small gang 800mm would be the better choice because the target should be dead before you have to reload unless your gang really stinks

Ok I keep reading different info on the Machariel set ups I am 7 months into the game I have a Mach and am trying to figure out what it is better at Shield vs Armor tank ( i shield tank now and do fine in pve) and Long range vs Short range for the guns ( i love my 1400s). So can someone sum it up for me on this, or is it truly an issue of preference one this ship for both tank and range. I actually went back to my tempest because I know exactly what to fit that with and how to fly it. I know i can use the Mach as a tempest with and extra low slot but is it really the best way to do it.
Excuse me for being a n00b any help is appreciated

Summary - Two options:
1. Shield tank + long range 2. Armor tank + short range
You can't mix the two due to powergrid issues when using long range (1400s) that needs the low slots to be filled with PDUs instead of armor tanking.
For pve, I'd prefer long range for the safe factor and ease factor, but for pvp, you want short range, since your target can simply warp off if not scrambled. Also, short range does approx. 30% more damage with a longer tank.

Are you serious?
First, don't mix turrets, short or long range, but not both, second, why the cap relay? with 5 normal cap rechargers you can put large repairer tech 2 forever, with that fitting you can use 2 large tech 2 repairer without stop, and use 2 cruise launchers, thats a typhoon setup, do you really have a machariel?

For PvP you're FAR better off using d650's, which frees up enough PG to use heavy NOS, Heavy Cap Booster, MWD, dual LARs, etc.
But if you don't have Large Autocannon spec, I wouldn't be taking the Machariel into PvP anyway, if I were you. Domination/RF AC's do about the same damage as a T2 AC, skills being the same, but you REALLY need to be able to use Barrage and take advantage of the falloff bonus.
For missions/ratting you don't need the NOS or the dual LARs, Barrage isn't necessary (or cost-effective), and the lower ammo burn of the 800's makes more sense, so the Domi 800's aren't a bad choice to use until you can use T2's.
Mission setup: 6x 800II's/Domination 800 2x Arbalest Seige
Faction AB 3x/4x Cap Recharger II 0x/1x Web/TP
3x/4x Rat specific Faction/T2 hardeners 1x/2x Gyro II 1x Faction/T2 MAR 1x Faction LAR
5x T2 Medium Drones 5x T2 Light Drones
You need AWU 2 to make that fit, but you can save some PG/CPU by using Cruise, and Cruise will also allow you to fit a 2x LAR setup.

Using this for missions:
6x Domination 1200mm artillery 1x Drone Link (don't ask...) 1x Smart Bomb/Cloak/whatever
1x Gist X-type AB 1x Sensor Booster 2x Tracking Computer 1x Cap Recharger
1x LAR 3x Hardeners (spec ofcourse) 3x Domination Gyro
3x CCC rigs
Has almost no tank, lots of gank, fun to fly. As for the CCC rigs I had them in hangar though what the hell and haven't bothered to use anything else yet.
Some missions require dropping a gyro for another hardener
Also got a set of Domination 800 repeating, the dps is huge but the range without falloff is awful and they only really work with an MWD, not many missions support that. I could use falloff rigs but then arti will no longer fit. Think I gotta get another mach for those.
As for flame on using it on missions, bite me. I dislike cookie cutting missiles spammers thank you very much.
