CCP's plan is simple really.
Make Gallente obsolete and undesirable to fly. First nerf them into oblivion where they are worthless to fly in virtually all forms of combat, even small/solo niche work where other race ships still do the job better. Second take away anything aesthetically cool about them, like cool paint jobs. With Gallente out of the picture, balancing only three races becomes much, much easier.

If that picture is real I will have to sell all my navy comets and forget that they exist. That camo is something that need to be cleansed from EvE, if nothing else, make new versions of the ships, call them the militia versions rather than navy versions and give those ships the fugly camo that you like to put on everything. |

In other words, you'll be able to have the comet skin on ALL your ships.

I assure you it is. One of the main reasons they're doing this is to allow custom skins and decals on ships. This is why there's a gold scorpion but not a gold anything else; The scorpion is made with the new texture files. |

We know that all ships are being redone in V3, and one of it's main purposes it to facilitate custom skins and logo's.
Unfortunately the Navy color scheme is that ugly camo, so I suppose it should have had that all along.
On the bright side it looks like you will be able to change it soon.
Custom skins will likely cost more, one way or another.
Whether Custom Skins are available through the NeX or not really doesn't matter, you'll still be able to obtain them with ISK.

The blinking light was one of the hallmarks of this ship. It is part of what really defined the hull and the design. It was like flying a little police frigate. Tons of fun in lowsec:

Something along the lines of a directive that states "If no other more effective camo pattern or paint scheme is available, all military assets will use the default standard camo pattern until further notice".
Since no other "more effective" paint scheme was available for star ships, as they are all equally ineffective, the standard directive has stood unchallenged for centuries.
Military experts are calling this SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).

If you're talking about my pic, yeah, the top is the new-look Kronos. The bottom is the Navy.

Took me a while to track one down, but I found a Roden Police Major. I have loved that skin ever since I laid eyes on it. Sometimes I wish players could fly them, but then I remember that Roden does missiles, ick.

how about the fact that we've been on sisi and seen that there are no blinky lights on the navy comet except for on the gallente custom officers that get to keep their police boats. |

Judging by the green tinge, it's no longer a BLUE light.

Way back when you did this cammo job to the navy mega, I was confused, but did not care. I just sold mine and that was it.
But I love the comet. It is easily my favourite ship. I might've even considered tattooing it's silhouette on my butt at some point. It's awesome.

It does not, on any level, make sense for a space ship to have green camouflage. It's completely unnecessary, looks stupid and really tacky, tbh.

I love all the other Gallente (and even Caldari) skin updates but I have to agree the change to the Comet is unfortunate. The Hookbill is even worse though I suspect it might be bugged.

No camo please. The cop design for the comet is already unique and should be on more gal navy ships. The hookbill camo paint is nice but doesn't really go with a space ship.
I've never liked the camo in space look. If you're going to start changing stuff move away from camo and more towards the way the comet looks now. |

Space camo is ridiculous, sensors don't care what color your ship is. If you want the navy ships to be more "stealthy" for rp purposes then maybe reduce their signature radius so it takes longer to target them? Really the only effective camo in space if you were using visual sensors only would be a mirror finish. I've never flown a comet but it looked 9001% better before, and the blinking light was the cake on which the icing was applied since the ship really wasn't that spectacular in any other facet. |

I do full-heartedly agree that the removal of the cop comet sucks, though. It will only be acceptable if CCP plans on giving all players brand-new faction-unique police frigates or cruisers for Christmas. |

It would be a shame if the Comet were changed to the camo look just so it can be lumped in with the rest. It may make logical sense, but it takes away some of the fun. |

Okay, I propose a compromise.
If CCP are so absolutely set on Gallente Navy ships being decorated with camouflage, for no reason that makes sense whatsoever, can we at least have actual naval camouflage? Forest camo looks terrible in space.
Whereas if you went with some proper naval camouflage, it would still be camouflage and it would actually look kind of awesome, as opposed to hideous. (And probably even be easier to texture.)
And don't take the blinky light from my comet, please. |

You don't click in space to find a target, if you aren't cloaked it shows up on the damned overview. It's absolutely absurd. Why we'd be so abused visually is beyond my comprehension.

First time i flew my Comet (maybe a year ago) i got a migraine from the flashing light. At the time i thought "what a cool ship, wish i could turn the damn light off". Have flown it maybe twice since then, so not too disappoint about the change. Would seem to be something that you should be able to switch off or on as desired. |

Why not just paint everything black with little white dots on it? Then no one will see you... untill you fly infront of a planet... other spaceship... moon... nebula... Ok Ok I got it, paint all the ships bright pink and strap fake elephant trunks, tails, ears and tusks on them. Any one seeing the ships will think they are a halucination and so ignore them... thats like being invisible right? |
