I was just thinking, it would be awesome if CCP could give out standard badges to everyone who donates to the Plex for Good campaign that is currently running.

The Badge would be just like any other badge out there that are handed out by corporations, meaning that people can decide for themselves if they want to show it or not, and it would not give any kind of bonus.

It would just be a recognition towards the players themselves and others so that everyone can see that they are (at least at the moment they donated) kind of heart and think of other people who are in desperate need of help outside this game.

We already get a cool (in game) shirt as part of this promotion. If there are more freebies awarded, won't there come a point where people will be participating for the merchandise rather than the disaster relief?

Basically its just a worthless badge that only says you have donated a Plex for the Plex for good campaign. i dont see why people would spend isk or real money just to get a badge. And even if thats the case, that would only be good since it would mean that at least a few more plexes are being sold for the Philippines.

I understand that Charity shouldn't need recognition, but still its sometimes nice to let others know that you did something good for someone else outside of this game.

I don't think you quite understand the concept of giving.

Doesn't everyone know it's chic to donate these days to get the t-shirt, ribbon or other useless piece of crap to show everyone how hip you are? Most "charitable" organizations are making boatloads of money off of these "causes".

Ask someone to donate on a regular basis to something like the center for missing and exploited children and you'll just get a blank stare because they don't do "fun runs" or have a specific colored wristband to wear. On the other hand tell them there is a branded breast cancer thing that gives away pink shirts and recognition junkies scramble to get one to "show their support".

Pathetic...but I don't expect much more from subjugated subhumans.
