Its been said:
The ability to keep NPC pirates in chain spawn will be removed, possibly in the next patch. Us in the NPC hunting industry call this "farming" and it is the #1 way we make ISK.
Needless to say, If the chainspawn ability is removed, Sh** is gonna hit the fan.

I guess I'll buy the astrogeology skill and make use of the NPC spawn nerf to mine like a bastard in 0.0 space then.

1). Where has this been said?
2). It would be a Good Thing(tm). No more chainspawning means that NPC pirates don't have to be made tougher in order to keep y'all on your toes.

its just a rumor ive heard here and there, it could be nothing. But it could be really lame, for us non-miners (i guess thats what we are)
the only way i can see that as some sort of "fix" would be to increase the NPC's bountys and "un-nerf" these god awful loot tables. Else it appears we will really be playing a mining sim.

Haven't seen anything on this in the patch update posts as yet. I imagine if they did change it they'd most likely just increase the time it takes for more npc spawn to appear. That would help some, while not openly allowing for a race to mine out 0.0 space.

Well, if they remove "reinforcements" then I am gonna fit 8x wards, go into a belt, shoot all pirates but 1 down, then my mining team is gonna warp in and mine their ass off while the pirate that is left tries to kill me which he ofcourse cant do.
Much easier to "guard" miners if they do this ;)

Ever man and his granny could mine in 0.0 space then, you could just warp out when the pirates arrive and ATM you can still get a 30 min window with no pirates. It would make getting the rare loot sucky, atm you just have to farm them for an hour or so and get about a hundred cans for one semi good item.

Well I would hope that before they even considered that they would create different spawn types.
All they way up to a BS + cruiser escort etc...
Also I think they would need to adjust the loot tables a bit to compensate for less NPCs being killed.
As it stands I farmed 40,000+ cargo holds of raw loot and got 1 heavy mod beam, 1 xcel mining drill, 4 extruded, 3 partial hulls, 4 regard power.
That took about a week, the same amount of farming without insta-spawns would have been at least 1.5 months I imagine. 10.5 months for a rack of heavy mods? Maybe a little extreme.

removing pirate farming would be a big mistake the only other ways to make money are to mine or trade :| both of which do not cater for the people who like to fight.

Ya it will really be Mining(TM)
hehe... if they dont make any other changes you will find that all those poeple even who mine will get ****ed im sure even they like to go take a brake and kill few NPC's
btw really this is more BS then anyone can think of... if the tables stay the same and the bounty is the same.... there is no reason to go kill npc pirates and wait another 15-30min+ to get another spawn LOL support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

considering that you get your ship blown up in under a min LOL ya who in there right mind would want to even bother with any pirate loot, it would be rare then all the items in eve put together...
lol this is going to be 10x worse when they nerfed the loot table... support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

How about they just make numbers more random, sometimes reinforcement comes, sometimes the last pirate warps out to save his own ass, sometimes 20+ pirates show at the same time.
Whoever said it was the PCs option to control NPC pirate activity?

They'd have to increase the bounties and decrease loot rarity then.

Definately agreed, I make all my money (at least very close to) from chaining. I'm NOT changing my "career" to full-time mining or such.

Jebus, some people will latch onto any rumour and consider it the truth. I'd ignore this issue until someone who would actually know mentions it.
c'mon people, do you *really* think they'd do this? .

The removal of chaining is a rumor, the removal of post-reboot tradegoods trading is a promise, and honestly I'd put both of them in the same bin.
I guess they do what they want. |

It would nice to hear their thoughts on this matter. They must have some "reason" for wanting to change it. I think chainspawn is a good mechanism. At least now with only lame cruiser NPC and loot that is crap. * -"You know, we play the "good guys" right? We kill pirates, griefers, retards and general subversive elements in the EVE-Community. Post-reboot trading is a bigger problem, I think, but if one goes then both should go.
Fairs fair.

If the rumor were to hold true it should only affect those who sit in a single area and kill the same NPC ships over and over.
I would have to agree this would be a good idea. It would add a level of realism to the NPC process and it doesnĘt seem like it would eliminate the NPC presence. As it is now is seems kind of nonsensical for the pirate to sling themselves to their doom one by one or in small groups. They should either give up and go away or come in such overwhelming numbers and crush the opposition.
True, pilots may have to fly around a bit to hunt, but all of the other money making roles in the game require the same. Plus this might be done in conjunction with an implementation of more powerful foes.

If the chain spawning is not intended by design then it should go.
It is daft anyway. That pirates continually throw themselves at you suicidally in insuficient numbers to cause you any harm.
Who are you to tell me to question authority? |
