BTW, you're doing a tremendous job, keep it that way! :) :)
The story behind Eve is really important to some of us, as important as the game mechanics cause it help entering the specifics of the game.
The universe is great and your novels help us to feel parts of something bigger! :)
Edit>> some misspelling corrections and stupid mistakes, writing when you're drunk is so stupid!

In the philosophical sense, one can make the valid argument that everything great and meek lives and dies for a reason and mere passing be it of a species or of a man is to an extent justified within the greater framework of deontological existence.
In the empiricle sense I'll side with Heinlen in saying that every species does its best to continue surviving, regardless of the adverse impact on other species. That this is a nuetral factor on the implicit understanding that a a beaver dam built for a beavers purposes is no different from a Human's dam built to serve Human purposes.
It's only by both elevating the natural world to some sord of sacrosanct position while simultanously demoting man to be an unnatural existor that one could sustain any form of outrage towards our existence and our means of ensuring it.
Which I frankly get a bad taste off of when a developer in Eve espouses, ESPECIALLY after some of the earlier faux pa's made that are symmetric to such a view (A most notable one being the decision to make it clear that the Amarr are Catholics).

Why do you ask? Because he expressed an opinion different from everyone else? OMG, the horror! Every time I see this kind of **** I feel like the community as a whole takes a step down.
Congrats, Tony. I've loved your work from the first word. I will buy two copies of the book - one for me to read and one to show the grandkids. -

Wow, a novel. Now that, going by the novellas to date, will be awesome. I am so excited at the prospect I can't even form a sentence sufficient enough to fully do justice to how excited I am.

I don't really agree with you but I can see your point. I think however that you are misunderstaniding the point in the dev blog. I didn't get the feeling he was lecturing anyone on the BADBAD things our species does, just putting the world of eve into perspective. I felt he was making a comparison on the basis of species going extinct on our one planet with our 6.5 billion versus a 5000 solarsystems and trillions of people universe. The ultimate point was explaining the mysterious "Order" in Theodicy, something I felt was needed.
The novellas are very good btw, those that have not read them should do so asap.

Honestly so far I haven't read a story but I would like to now. And as usual I want to read them all, BUT not online on the website.
Is it possible that you put them ALL in pdf format including the chronicles? Actually the coolest thing would be one big pdf with all of them in it.
Is that possible by any chance?

Tony, you have my thanks for writing the great peices that you have.
To say I'm looking forward to the novel is an understatement. Actually can I volunteer as a proof reader
Oh and please force them to print in hardback anything less would be an insult.

Originally by: Maya Rkell And yet by comparison, Eve is relatively restrained for a far-future Space Opera setting.
There is no large-scale use of nanotech visible to pilots, neutral rigs are possible only inside sealed pods, and so on. And its science is based - even loosely - on currently established theories (such as the casimir effect for warp drives).
Yeah, compared to settings like the Revolution Space/Redemption Ark series by Alastair Reynolds or the Culture universe by Iain M. Banks, EVE-Online is a backwater podunk town. :) -- Lil Miner |

TG, thank you for showing us where we the pilots and our Empires stand in the grand scheme.
Originally by: TG Choose your allegiances wisely, and above all else, make no assumptions: EVE is not a static universe. That much is certain. Let there be no doubt in your mind that the best for EVE is yet to come.
I would like to see that statement static on the login screen.

Just read Theodicy and thought it was superb. Ruthless I read as soon as it was released and also thought it was superb.
Great writing style, truly gripping and a really valuable contribution to the backstory of Eve.
Theodicy almost made me want to start roleplaying and that says a lot

I'll look into having Theodicy and Ruthless turned into a pdf. A pdf of all the Chronicles has been assembled by a player, just a few minor details to work out before the Chronicles pdf is online and available.
Quote: Will a hard copy version of the novel be available and when?
A hardcopy version of the novel will be available, at this time I do not know when, whether it will be a hard or paperback, or through what outlet.
