How long is the academy? till you can transfer to corp? Are any of the corps on the dark side?

There's no "graduation requirement" to the Academy, and no expectation that cadets stay for any defined period. Some pilots will come with considerable skill and experience in Eve, but perhaps are lacking experience in PvP combat. Assuming there's a good fit (i.e., everyone gets along, etc) they may move to one of the NBSI corporations fairly soon. Players new to Eve will probably take a little longer before they're ready to make the leap...it's hard to generalize beyond that. I should note that, for administrative reasons, the Academy is not a formal member of the NBSI Alliance, although we work closely together.
In response to your question about "the dark side", let me stress that NBSI is an anti-pirate alliance: we don't ransom people's pods, or engage in larceny. However, NBSI means "not blue: shoot it". That means corporations either to which we are either neutral or have negative standings are considered legitimate targets. I might mention that it is the policy of NBSI and the Academy not to leave space littered with the detritus of combat, so we usually collect any modules, weapons, ammo, etc that drop from combat targets. We consider this policy to be eco-friendly and environmentally responsible.
Thank you for your interest in NBSI Academy.

Edited by: Wraiith on 30/03/2006 15:27:46 Hi all, new player here going on my third day and currently working on my combat build. I have a Condor with 2 MLs and a 125 mm Rail gun some shields and a AB. I finished my storyline quests last night, trying to raise my Frigate skill to level 3 so I can purchase a Merlin. Your Academy sounds very interesting but not sure if you are looking for someone as new as me, give me a shout in game if you could use me.

Wraiith,
The long and short of it is it will very much be the deep-end for you bud but there is no finer place to be in my opinion and you would learn a great deal fast about combat etc.
If that's what you want join up m8
I would say the game takes up a lot of time so If you have it to give then so do we! Cheers PISCIS

do you have a skill point limit for new applicants? I've been messing around with my friend in his corp for about a month now but he left the game... and now I need somewhere to go... and I really wanna PVP I just broke 1mill sp mark, so if that's good enough I'd love to join your ranks!

DocKiss: NBSI and the Academy care much less about than skill points (which naturally over time in Eve)than character and enthusiasm (which you either have or you don't). I'll drop you a line ingame with more detailed information, but why not make a trip to Masalle and join our eager bunch in learning about pvp combat? Look forward to meeting you.

I've kicked around the game on and mostly off for a few years. I've never done PVP, but I'd like to get my feet wet with it. Two quick questions, which I'm sure you won't mind the bump from :)
I have very limited play hours, are you active in the 8-10pm eastern US timezone?
Also, I've always been a dedicated carebear miner and hauler and I don't want to endanger my security status. Is that going to be an issue or should I create an alt for the corp?

Join these fellas. They are not only very helpful but fun to fly with. Serend is fantastic. No really, he is. The poor guy has probably 20 or so individual chats going on at one time yet he finds the time and sanity to reply to all of them. He will remember who you are and help you with whatever you need. When he's offline there is ALWAYS someone in NBSIA to help you. Serend is everything you could want in a CEO. And NBSIA is everything you could want with a beginner PVP corp.
NBSI Academy is perfect for when you are starting out, they are creative in finding ways to keep you entertained instead of running agent missions 24/7 or killing rats.
If PVP is what you want out of EVE, then start here.
kisses and hugs go out to my NBSI academy boys. I will miss ya ;-p

Kharai, it sounds to me as though you're just the kind of player we're looking for at the Academy. We are anti-pirate (though our enemies might argue that point since we shoot everyone not blue in 0.0 space) and our only mission in life is to train people to be competent combat pilots. I'll drop you a line in game and answer your specific questions. Good folks here, and lots to learn. Hope to hear from you soon.

Best move i have made to date
These guys will bring the fun into pvp and there is always someone about to team up with who will offer advice etc
Regular corp events are being worked on all the time including stuff like 'search and destroy the ceo's convoy' , 0.0 sec cannonball run / wacky races , frigs tourneys and many others.
*tips hat to Darth Bob and Serend for all the good work*
