Hello guys and girls,
A new EVE Chronicle has been published on the Chronicles section of our web site. Today's instalment, "The Crystal Boulevard," sheds some light on one of the four empires' most remarkable landmarks. Originally posted on the EVE Library forum in July of last year, it was resubmitted to us by the author some weeks back and now sees publication here. This makes it the first work of previously published fan fiction to break through into canon.
It's a great piece and we're happy to publish it. We hope you enjoy it too. |

"And I just hope to the Gods that we win. If the Amarrians take over the galaxy, we'll never get out of the resulting dark age."
I pity that misguided fool...
The Amarrian Empire is the longest standing testament to human civilisation in the long and bloody history of mankind.
Individualism of the Gallente mode has been tried before and always ultimately fails, as it has no cohesive centre.
Yes the concept of 'freedom' would appear to unite the Gallente but ultimately the right of an individual to do as he or she wishes will always catastrophically collide with the rights of other individuals - and confict is the result.
Yes this can be managed and papered over for a time but it is not a strong foundation for long term stability. Eventually the *****s and the divisions will emerge, society will split and conlict will errupt.
On the other hand we Amarrians have created an Empire that has stood the test of time. We are a shining beacon of light in this dark universe.
Our system is centred on our worship and faith in our Emperor. This gives it great stability and allows us to face external threats with a united sense of purpose and cohesion.
It is no mistake that we were the first to rise out of the dark times and it is no mistake that our Empire is the longest standing civilisation in history. Our past is long and our future is bright.
It is sad that this 'ambassador' clearly lacked the insight and talents required for his job.

Originally by: Hardin The Amarrian Empire is the longest standing testament to human civilisation in the traumatic and bloody history of mankind. Civilisations rise and fall - only the Amarrian Empire has endured and broken that cataclysmic cycle.
The Jove Empire is older still...
Quote: Yes this can be managed and papered over for a time but it is not a strong foundation for long term stability. Eventually the *****s and the divisions will emerge, society will split and conflict will errupt.
And the Amarrians have never split or had conflict... neither the Khanid Kingdom, the Minmatar Republic, nor the Blood Raider coalition exist...
Quote: On the other hand we Amarrians have created an Empire that has stood the test of time. We are a shining beacon of light in this dark universe.
Is that why half of you wear hoods? And have you thought of asking the billions of people you've enslaved?
Quote: Our system is centred on our worship and faith in our Emperor. This gives it great stability and allows us to face external threats with a united sense of purpose and cohesion.
And get your behinds handed to you by the Jove...
Quote: It is no mistake that we were the first to rise out of the dark times and it is no mistake that our Empire is the longest standing civilisation in history. Our past is long and our future is bright.
*cough* Jove *cough*
Quote: It is a pity that this 'ambassador' clearly lacked the insight and talents required for his job. With diplomats of this quality it is not surprising that Amarrian/Gallente relations remain strained!
I'm not worried. If you guys sabre rattle too much, we'll do just what we did last time: Cut off your Quafe supply. And just like last time, you'll be back at the peace table within the week.
You're all just a bunch of dirty slavers who can't be arsed to get your own work done. You've only made it this far through sheer bloody mindedness. It won't last, your Empire is already crumbling...

Wasnt this in the Library some time ago? THought it was a good read then, and happy if it was as it means theres a chance (though a slim one) that any of us can make something special for Eve as a whole. |

This is not the end... it is merely a beginning!
*bows*
I really hope you all enjoy it. It was a pleasure for me to write, and I think it sums up nicely what is to come.
I think somebody needs to update the front-site so that all visitors can see the new Chronicle, though.
Just to note, if anyone is confused by the "Kataphraktur" comment, Cyrstal Boulevard is the third in a pair of "Player Chronicles" written to respond to "Dam-Torsad", one of the original pieces of fiction introducing the Amarrian Empire. The full order runs as follows:
Dam-Torsad Dam-Torsad The Glorious (fan-fiction) The Crystal Boulevard
Anyway, thank you again, all. If you want to give me luffles in game, look for Andre Ricard, like the sig says.
And remember... it's only the beginning.
... now I just have to figure out what the blue blazes a "Sunspiral" is... -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?
Player of the character "Andre Ricard". |

Oh, and as a Caldari, I'm quite happy that they built the Crystal Boulevard: Originally by: The Crystal Boulevard Only direct-contact antimatter bombs could do the job, and even then it'd need enough antimatter blasts to end up destroying most of the Caille city district in the process. Essentially, you can't get to the bunkers without laying waste to the entire city
It's going to give us a damned good excuse to level the city. "How could you level an entire city of civilians?" *shrugs* "It was the only way to get to the bunker, sorry." -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Edited by: Aramova on 10/03/2006 19:45:24 You have GOT to love any game company that would have a line like this in their core story..
Quote: And the answer is: I agree. Sooner or later, the Federation and the Empire have to beat the ever-loving **** out of each other and only one will rise from the carnage. One of us surrenders individual freedom for a universal human mission, and the other allows each person to define his own mission. In the end, the two can't co-exist; they're polar opposites, and they'll clash eventually. I respectfully disagree with the good Holder as to who'll win, but he's got the right of it; no matter how long we put it off, it's got to end in blood.

P.S. Yikes! the forums filter the S-Bomb when it's in a core story? ---

Why? This chronical was about a discussion between two people. What does CCP's image have to do with anything? Please leave the fanboism OUT of the thread.
Anyway, finally a defining moment for the Federation. The Amarrian's should take notice to what happens when you push us too far. Better yet, ask the Caldari.
For some reason I find the term "Evil Empire", fitting for the Amarr.

4/10 for jumping to CCP's defense
Minus several million for getting the wrong idea.
I really do think it's nice to see a company not paralyzed by the Soccer Moms of America and making a story which fits with how a very large portion of it's demographic would speak.
