Recently I trained for logistics under advice from multiple people that they were the best way of getting into incursions and the vast amount of ISK contained there in.
But that's I've got the ship to level 3 and sitting in my hanger I've found that its pretty much a dead-end for getting into incursions. Everyone only accepts lv5 logistics pilots and those that do accept lv4 I suspect will go for a lv5 all the time over a lv4.
As I'm rather annoying by this considering I bankrupted myself buying the ship I'm looking for other ways of getting into incursions. Should I stop training for logistics 4 and start to train for large hybrid guns and try to get into incursions via a meta4 Rokh? Though I'll probably also be snubbed in favour for the faction fitted pirate BS next to me.
So beyond this is there any ways to get into that sweet incursion pie? Or is it another dream long sucked dry and sealed up behind an SP wall? |

Why not just train the skills to 5 and be done with it. If you want in to incursions (group pve) you need to have something to offer the group. Anything that's worth anything takes time to do. |

I'm not going to be training the thing to 5, that takes 25 days. I want to use that time to train other things. I need tech 2 reppers on the logistics. I need to improve my dps on my Navy Raven (which no-one accepts in incursions because everyone hates the caldari). I need to improve my subsystem and heavy missile skills on my Tengu. I don't want to waste nearly a month on a craft that I'll probably won't use for less than a week then be told the major groups are phasing out because they don't feel its pull its weight.

well, you can sell your basi and give up, or you can train level 4 and try to get into fleets. Training your CNR and Tengu skills will be good for your personally, but they won't help if your goal is incursions, which is at least what this thread seems to be about. my goal is to make cash
Beyond that I have no goal apart from perhaps unlock new ships. (on that subject I'm wondering if I should inject the electronic attack ship skill) |

And with an attitude like that you wonder why you don't get an invite.
Right with that out of the way lets have a look at your actual skills:
http://eveboard.com/pilot/Paul_Otichoda
Basic stuff first:
Hull upgrades IV - this means you can fit a t2 damage control, always useful, long term you want to get this to V as it will help every ship you ever fly, plus its needed if you ever want to fly a t2 armour tank. Mechanics V - again always useful CPU Management V, Power Grid management V, virtually always useful
Now onto logistics in incursions.
Drones - able to use hobgoblin IIs but only have Repair Drone operation I - I'll consider this allowable for a newer character as a basilisk only has space for a single flight of drones. Engineering - Capacitor Emission Systems II - for a basilisk to be cap stable requires the use of remote capacitor transmitters, this skill is also needed at it reduces the amount of capacitor needed to use them - you need it at level IV to be effective Navigation - most of the time you will be flying with an afterburner fitted, you would need to train fuel conservation up from II Shields - Shield emission systems II is again just not good enough, it would need to be IV, shield management should be V sooner rather than later though this benefits every ship you fly Targeting - A basilisk can lock 10 targets _if you have the skills trained_ Remember you will have 2 targets permanently locked in a fleet of logi IV ships. You only have target management trained to IV so you only have 4 spare targets, this is simply not enough.
And the big one - Logistics itself - YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS TO LEVEL IV AT LEAST TO BE EFFECTIVE!
Oh you may be able to spend an absolute fortune and come up with a fit that may just cut it at Logi III but not with the rest of your skills and the reason is clear when you look at the ship bonus for a Basilisk:
Logistics Skill Bonus: 15% reduction in Shield Transport and Energy Transfer Array capacitor use per level
Yes the minimum I'm talking about has a 20% + a 60% reduction to the cap use of the main modules you will need and you are complaining you aren't getting invites when you only have 10% + 45% - I think that is probably a good thing for other people as the thing you fail to realise is that its not you that loses a ship if you fail as a logi pilot - its other people!
You seem to have made the classic mistake and tried to do everything immediately - you have less than 10 million sp. Pick one thing and concentrate on it - if instead of trying to improve your skills with both the raven and the tengu pick one - decent skills in one will have a better effect than mediocre skills in both.

making cash is done by being good at something.. so if you want to make it doing incursions.. you need to train properly, how would you like to be in a fleet with your 2 bil ship and have to rely on a lvl 3 logi pilot who will not be able to run more than 1 repper and be cap stable ? First mistake. Bought the ship before you could even fly it (why do people always do this)
Second mistake. Failed to research. Even a minor about of research would have shown you that Logistics requires at minimum Logi4 and preferrably Logi 5.
Third mistake. Being impatient. Yes Logi 5 is 25 days. But honestly it is probably still your fastest way into incursions. Every fleet needs logi. I love flying logi.
Not looking at your skills I would venture to guess that your best and fastest way into incursions is still to finish up your logi training.

Listen to Kithran, trust me he knows that of which he speaks.
With 10mil SP's trying to Logi in an Incursion fleet is never going to really work, either spend the time to train up all the necessary logi skills or try a different route. This is really important in Incursions, everybody relies on the Logi's to keep them alive, you are the most important person in fleet; you will (potentially) be keeping Billions of ISK worth of Pirate BS's and DeadSpace fittings alive.
This is why being a Logi gets you into an Incursion fleet, any idiot can press F1 and can click 'Need Shields'; not everyone likes actually having to think and be on the ball and make sure their comrades stay alive.
I run Incursions and I now Logi quite a bit, and it can be a tough job. I'm not 100% there yet on my Logi Training, some skills for Remote Tracking links still to get to V, but everything else is at V, and TBH for Incursions EVERY relevant skill for your Logi and its fit/modules needs to be at IV minimum, V preferably.
If you don't like this advice well then there are other ways to get into Incursions, just fit your Navy Raven as per this site http://incursions.nexsoft.de/?mode=news and try The Valhalla Project or Warp To Me (in game channels), they will accept you.
Also Incursion communities Strongly Prefer that their pilots use their ISK to upgrade their ships/fittings, so ditch the Navy Raven/Rokh for something better, a Vindicator would be eminently acceptable to the vast majority of FC's..... |

Then pick a single money-making venture and train towards it directly. For something like three months. No diversions, no excuses. Suddenly you'll be making the money you think you want.
What won't work is training towards a half dozen goals and wondering why you're terrible at all of them -- and why, whenever you come to the forums, everyone immediately tells you to skill up. |

OP, if you want to run level 4's, then stick with the CNR and get skills for it and your general foundation skills. If you want to run level 4's, do exploration, WHs, or spend decent amounts of time in lowsec or nullsec, then I would train for tengu, while also working on general skills. If you want one ship to specialize in that lends itself to several applications, its this ship. get t2 hams or heavies, get your missile supports to 4, your subsystem skill, and your shield skills all at 4/5. Its also a fantastic ship for farming ghost sites. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. Well I know Warp to Me has official declared that RNI are no longer being accepted in fleets (I've been on the mailing list for a while) and while TVP does appear to be partly accepting them, with only 60m ISK in the bank I can't even afford to refit the ship for incursion operations. Let alone replace it if I loose it.
If I ever get a pirate ship I'd probably get the nightmare since its uses caldari BS skills. Though its still rather academic considering the highest gunnery skill I have is small hybrid guns 4 (yes that how bad I am in the guns department).

basilisk works with level 4 actually, its just that incursion runners have gotten pickier. The nature of the bonus makes the leap from 4 to 5 very significant. The problem with logi is that they're useless unless you have a specific purpose for them. Might as well sell yours. Though as I understand anyway the basilisk is being side-lined by the Scimitar due to the its lack of need for cap chain and bonuses to remote tracking boasters. Give it 6 months or so and they'll be junking the Basilisk as well. Just in time for me to turn up ready to have a go at incursions properly.
Life is hard.

Life is hard. Yes it is. On the plus side if you train logi V you can pick up Minmtar cruiser V at some point the in future and jump into a Scimitar. Once you can fly one logi well it isn't hard to fly the others well since you already have the big train (logi V) out of the way.

Train up for large Hybrids T2 and once you have T2 Blasters at IV roll out that Rokh and try again. I fly with DIN and even they will accept Rokh's in fleet (sometimes...). As Kithran pointed out your support skills are low, Incursions (HQ's) can be tough on low skilled pilots due to heavy Alpha's and Neuting BS's so maybe wait a while and skill up a bit more before trying Incursions, after all Incursions are (and I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this) regarded as End game content for High Sec players. |

Some pilots are flying multi billion ISK ships that will be destroyed if you fail to properly logi them. This is why some fleets can be more demanding than others. If you spent three billion ISK on a battleship wouldn't you want the logi pilot to have enough skill to keep you targeted or maybe not run out of cap? Don't get too upset if they are demanding because it's for good reason.
I'm not sure if you have it but if not download Evemon and make a skill plan. Eve is about setting long term goals. Find something you want to do and get really good at it.
One of the biggest mistakes new pilots make is not focusing. I'm no exception.... I was all over the place and I was terrible at first because of that. Be good at ONE THING first. If it's flying a Raven for missions then do that. If it's logi in incursions do that. Don't be a "Jack of all trades" in Eve because you'll just end up being bitter when you fail. After you get really good at that one thing then branch off into other things.

My incursion nightmare has gunnery at V and that is about it, still gets 100,000 ehp, cap stability, and 925dps @ 45km.
To the OP, many incursion communities will accept a level IV logi, some communities work on a first come first serve.
If a fleet commander calls for people, and you pass the minimum requirement (IV), and X-up before a V, you get in. |

You want to make cash, but you want to make it at the expense of the rest of the fleet. As such, you're going to be a drain on the rest of the fleet, and this is especially true when it comes to the logistics. In vanguards, there's two logi pilots, and when one isn't pulling his weight it puts undue stress on the FC and the other logi pilot.
You are acting just like the Rokh pilot who trained Caldari Battleship 1 and expects to get into fleets immediately because he has the skill to fly the ship. |

If the OP doesn't want to finish logistics training, then the OP should certainly not try to mess around with the rokh, which would be a whole lot of gunnery training just to end up with a still-inferior dps ship. Because it lets you train stuff that you don't like in your main. I have two accounts, main focused in combat and the alt flies falcon, logistics and now it is training boosting skills.

Logi is one of the fastest ways of getting into incursions if you start from scratch. Getting Logi 5 (and rest of the relevant essentials to 5) is approx 6 months. It takes substantially longer to properly max a dps boat (which is usually a pirate BS) for a good-income incursion fleet.
There are some incursion communities that take anything (almost) but as far as I understand the isk is not very good. I would even go as far as to say it might not be better than running lev 4's with the same skills. For me its about 2 months to have a chance at getting into incursions but no way am I grinding for that considering that Scimitar is preferred.
So I'm giving up on incursions. Give it 6 months and they'll no longer be accepting anything but pirate ships anyway. |

If your losing ships to mission rats you are definitely not going to have anything to offer an incursion fleet. As the whole point of time invested in training equating to performance boosts in ability, and then massive boosts in earning is what EVE is all about. If your frustrated that you aren't earning enough to fly 2 billion ISK ships it is probably because you haven't trained enough to fly them either, thus the adage 'Don't fly what you can't afford to lose'. That applies in reverse order as well, if you can't afford to lose it you probably don't have the skills to fly it (Appropriately) anyway.
I will say this again, in it's own line so it doesn't get lost in translation; Scimitars are preferred for some fleets and Basi's are preferred for other fleets, there will never be a time that one is exclusive to the other.
And training to fly any ship with perfect skills should be the goal, not something to avoid, otherwise your never going to see them work the way they are designed. Training a skill till it exceeds one day and then stopping is akin to buying a sports car, and never taking it out of first gear.

Incursions are not for brand new players.
You need to do something else first.
Run Missions till you have enough isk that a few 100 million is not that much for you. (( Combat pilots ))
Mine away as you train up a perfect logi. (( Industrialist ))
Trade away at a hub until you have skills ready for a chosen ship. (( Traders ))
Eve is a long term game. It's built to be that way like no other game. If you can't be patient you will fail at Eve.
Have a variety of high level ships/skills and get into incursions with ease. |

Another pubbie who heard about incursion isk and wants a piece if the pie with as little time/effort invested on the alt...
OP: Your knowledge about the game is bad, your motivation and attitude are terrible( wich is the reason we cant help you), and lets face it: you wont last long in any decent community.
When i get home ill contract you a drake so you can fuckoff in lvl 3-4 missions unttil you realise that you might have to "train some skills" - Invest skill, isk nd time into your ship/community and then yes you'll get spacerich. Until then continue to put as little effort into an online multiplayer spaceship game, preferd, as far away from incursions as possible...
Just some tough love, incase you didnt realise how bad you are Fungu Arsten |

One word of advice, been playing a very long time and tried all eve has to offer. I have struggled to ISK for years until I made friends.. Hang out with people first and get to know them, after all EVE is an MMO... |

Out of curiosity, how likely is a Golem to be accepted into an incursion. I'd like to get into incursions eventually but I chose missiles when I started playing :( Sorry to hijack thread edit; 25 days for a level 5 isn't that bad IMO, i'd just bite the bullet and go for it. Currently i'm 30 days from Caldari battleship V |

There is no reason you can't train guns though. Go for lasers and a Nightmare. |

This post is the cherry on top. "CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"

Thanks, before Rubicon I was training hybrid turrets for an incursion Rokh to get started, got upto T2 mediums then they changed all the requirements lol. It's not entirely out of the question that i'll swap to guns :) |

Good advice but not completely true re "it's guns or go home". U0R VG accepts missile boats frequently for Vanguards and a Golem works just fine.
This is to help out those just starting out with incursions
Having said that, it is true turrets are much preferred, however. |

I am a fairly new player and I specifically had this character training towards T3 cruisers.
I could sit in a proteus before I had 3m SP, and now that I am almost double that SP...I have yet to actually sit in a proteus because even being new I know there is a difference between sitting in something and flying something.
Due to your apparent maturity level and need for instant gratification...

Currently i'm 30 days from Caldari battleship V Unfortunately, like Antillie Sa'Kan said, it's basically guns or go home. I'd say after the Caldari bs gets done, train amarr bs to 4 and the needed gunnery skills to get into a Nightmare. The groups I chat with really like them, and the Cald BS skill directly affects the damage it will output anyway.
Actually this is my goal too =P I'm training for both the Golem and Paladin and in the meantime getting a NM to run incursions with. |
