As an American, myself, I believe my opinion on that subject is a little more valid than an outsider's. We're definitely not the best and brightest, out there. Our education is for crap, and our country is full of science-denying nitwits, led by theiving lawyers that nobody will force out of office because "they're totally sorry and fully won't ever do it again... they said so on TV"..... There are currently multiple "want to buy" contracts out there for 30 mill ISK or more per ship for the Leopard.
However apparently a super fast 30 million ISK ship that can be flown by any player, even a low skill alt, is a cr@p free bonus that is insulting to players?

I never denied any of the above. The problem is, saying things which effectively boil down to "they're stupid and entitled, so they must be an American" paints us all with the same brush. It's unnecessary and it's unappreciated. Latest video - Pandemic Legion titan and supers killed |

Question, Do you "provide content" to make CCP gain subs? or do you "Provide content" because you want to have fun in the game?
If it's the latter it's irrelevant wether CCP gains subs as a result of whatever content you "provide", If it's the first.... why are you even playing this game? |

There's no contractual requirement for them to do any development or iteration at all. There's no contractual obligation for me to be grateful for crappy gifts, go figure.
gift.. keyword there
its noy a payment for services rendered, its soemthing that was given for you, a dev spent the 5 mins whatever to alter the minmatar shuttle code, while another photoshopped a new skin in 30 mins the whacked it together and GAVE it to you.
if you cannot understand what a gift is, and how it differs to a payment then Eve is FAR to complex for you.

Some people are ridiculous. Scrub. There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency. |

it was the year they gave us a choice of gifts, and none of them were random bits of junk. sure some choices were vastly superior to others but none of them were just a collection of useless pieces of junk like the last 2 years.
that's why previous year's gifts were better; you could actually pick something that wasn't ****, and even the **** stuff was useful so you couldn't lose even if you picked randomly. |

We still have a good many of the best and the brightest, but it is changing as we continue to move towards rewarding failure and mediocrity and punishing achievement. The exceptions for now seem to be in politics (where greed, lies and corruption are still the ticket for success), professional sports and entertainment.

Some short time ago it was very popular in eve to have a quote from machiavelli in your sig. One such quote that has really influenced me is about generosity.
Quote:GÇ£Since the desires of men are insatiable, Nature prompting them to desire all things and Fortune permitting them to enjoy but few, there results a constant discontent in their minds, and a loathing of what they possess, prompting them to find fault with the present, praise the past, and long for the future, even though they be not moved thereto by any reasonable cause.GÇ¥ The Discourses: II, Preface
Generosity is a trap for the established leader, once you give something people expect more and when they do not receive ever improving gifts they forget their joy at the gifts they once enjoyed and curse their benefactor as misers.
It is an ugly side of human nature, something for people in business to beware of. "if you're not having fun in a sandbox, it's not the Sands fault" Jenn aSide |
