This mission is a breeze, ive done it about 5-6 times now and can easily finish it under 35mins in me brutix (only grabbing some cans), even without hardners the only part that gets my SB going for a long time is the mob of 10-12 frigs in part 3.
*As pointed out earlier thats with 0 EM and 20 Therm resists

Lost my Proph to this mission yesterday, but mainly to personal carelesness and stupidity. a) I didn't know you could bookmark the later levels and warp into them from the station, so I wasted a LOT of time going through each level again and again. b) Failed to align in the 3rd level, got webbed, and before I could pivot the ship for warp I was toast.
I went to get a new Proph (hurray for 100% insurance that was going to run out next week ), fitted it out wth 15 Mil in goodies, and promptly finished the mish in 3 more runs. I spent 5 and a half hours on it... If I'd known I could warp to stage 3 directly, it would've taken me 1 hour probably.

Originally by: Topodo Tanking against thermal in my Brut, I had an easier time with Massive Attack than most of the toughest level 3's.
I can see where a shield tanker would have a hard time, though. Some of the EM damage you can take is, well, massive...
The worst they could do in my Cerberus was get my shields down to 97%. That was in the overseer room. Cap never went below about 45%. I could keep it up all day, but it was a against a bunch of frigs and sentries.

Even as a noob I found this mission mind numbingly easy. I didn't have any tags for the bonus levels and the only one located was 11 jumps away so maybe thats the hard part but the rest is basically cake even for a noob in a BC.

Originally by: Brutor Shaun Just finished this mission using a Cyclone BC, and I've got to admit it's the only lvl 3 I've struggled with in a BC.
Respawns like crazy, and lives up to it's name as the attacks are MASSIVE!!!
I was back and forth to my station for ammo and repairs several times, and the only thing that made it completable was that I could set BMs inside each section of the mission.
Anyone else had the same problem with this mission?
I just got this as my first level 3 mission. They were very welcoming:
[ 2006.03.18 20:21:58 ] Centii Loyal Manslayer strikes you perfectly, wrecking for 86.0 damage. [ 2006.03.18 20:22:02 ] Sabretooth Light Missile belonging to Sansha's Nation hits you, doing 144.3 damage. [ 2006.03.18 20:22:02 ] Thunderbolt Heavy Missile belonging to Sansha's Nation hits you, doing 288.6 damage. [ 2006.03.18 20:22:02 ] Thunderbolt Heavy Missile belonging to Sansha's Nation hits you, doing 288.6 damage
Think ill let them live for a while longer, since im a nice guy....

Don't feel too bad mate.
I did the EXACT same thing as you.. "a) I didn't know you could bookmark the later levels and warp into them from the station, so I wasted a LOT of time going through each level again and again. Embarassed b) Failed to align in the 3rd level, got webbed, and before I could pivot the ship for warp I was toast."
I thought this mission was ridiculously difficult.... in the 3rd stage. I tried all kinds of ridiculous setups on my brutix. This mission and slave trader 2 are waaaaaaay out of line with all the other level 3 missions. I like a challenge, something to look forward to eventually beating easily... but a hac? millions in gunnery skills? oh well. only 2 months to a deimos :( www.modthebox.com |

The first time I did this mission it took so long the Overseer room spawned a Battle Ship. A BS in level III's, I think that might be a bit over the top.

Try out the bonus area in Angel Extravaganza. 2 BSs, loads of cruisers and only 4 tacklers that don't even tackle. It's great.

Mission completed. It wasn't even too hard with EM and thermal hardeners. I also changed the 2 med NOS to 250mm rails with anti-matter rounds.
Actually I didn't even notice when I managed toblast the overseer =). I just checked the mission goals to refresh my memery what ti was that I have to do and noticed that I could collect the reward.
Has anyone ever destroyed that battletower? It has quite massive ammount of armor... city4dev.city.fi/kuvagalleria/kuvat/54/53/92/545392.jpg[/IMG]

Originally by: Irishka K Nice mission, for last pocket, with Overser, i make little macro for targeting and killing swarmers with my scout drones :) I stop it after one hour ...hehe, looks like this little beasts spawn in unlimited numbers. Passive Ferrox can tank it easy.
But dont take this mission on 4 level, 2nd pocket with centry guns is deadly if you have little lag.
Can anyone else spot the problem in this post? RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!

Edited by: Strom Rax on 20/03/2006 12:41:22 Also did it in Cyclone, most amusing lvl3 mission so far. The overseer almost got me cause i got kill frenzied over all the swarmers. Hope i get this one again as soon as possible. BTW mix combat setup 3 heavies 5 220's, EM and thermal harderners and two T2 large shield extenders and a webber made the work easy. Shield relays and weapon upgrade in lows.
Sorry for the alt reply.

Yeah, I agree that this mission is indeed the toughest lvl3 I've tried. Did it first in a Retribution, but got downed in 3'rd room, due to negligence :(. Tried in another Retri, but found that I simply lacked range once I got webbed. Returned in a Harpy and mission went smoothly thereafter. Simply take out the stasistowers and the webbing frigs first. Rest is just a matter of time (and ammo).

Doing any level 3 mission in a HAC is as challenging as doing level 1 missions in a T1 Cruiser. Maybe someday we'll all be as skillful
And Shaady, you should be able to do the L3 version in a Dominix, I did it in a battelcruiser (Ferox) with no warpouts.

this is the only lvl 3 mission where i had real problems in my retribution .. found myself chasing the long range npc inties around for a long time, and with the therm resist hole .. not fun :p then i switched to my enyo with rails and em/therm hardener, with which it was real easy. while it certainly is one of the harder lvl3s (especially in an AF), i think it's ok as it is, it's not like you instapop on warp-in with the right hardeners.

Edited by: Hal Mondo on 20/03/2006 16:52:43 I did this mission about 2-3 weeks ago in my raven - didnt have a problem, and had about 3.5mil skill points, half in learning!
I think they have increased the difficulty of this mission recently as two of my corpmates who each have twice my SP's jointly attempted it and nearly lost a well-sorted 'Rox and a gallente AS. They warped out and had to get help off a Raven.
So dont feel down if people are bragging how easy it is, it probably was when they attempted it!

Shaady,
With 2 EM and 3 thermal hardeners this mission is trivial in a Dominix with just (1.2mil SP). So you should have no problems at all. Bring 2 sets of light and medium EM drones and they will do all the work for you.
If you want to wait for the delayed Battleship spawn in the overseer room, then use one large T2 rep. You can tank the BS, Overseer and the 8 swarmers and 4 sentry guns all at the same time. Depending on your drone skills you can kill the BS with just your drones.

Alright, it's all been said: - EM / Therm tank and you're fine. - I've flown this in a Vexor and in a Dominix ( love drones ) and had no problems. - In the stash room, there is no overseer's loot, just some extra high-dollar bounties to collect. - I've blown up the tower, it's a waste of time as nothing comes out of it.
-= BUT =-
How long do you have to wait for this BS to spawn?
I probably spent a good five min letting my drones chew up the battle tower, making total mission time ( to that point ) about 25 min, and never saw a BS. At that time though, I didn't have a silver tag to go through the stash gates - do you have to blow up the tower and then go through the stash gates? I'll try this next time to find out.
My tutorial for new players ( work in progress ) [here]. |

This one looks thought, but its quite easy if you setup your ship right and know what to do. I got VERY little skill points in ferox related skills, about 300k or so, and I can breeze through every lvl 3 missions. Good base setup, change hardners/missiles for missions and decline the hardest ones untill youre familiar with your setup.
5x heavys, 1 medium gun of choice, 1 tractor 1 invul field, 1 thermal and one EM hardner (change for different mission rats), 2x large shield extenders In lows you can balance out tank vs dps, I prefer 2x Ballistic, 1 power diag and 1 shield power relay just to get some extra damage. If your struggling with your tank you can try to change the invul field for another extender, and swap a BCU for a SPR.
A few tips on this mission: in the 2nd/3rd room (The ones with groups of enemies), fly away from the closest groups right away, only attack those who aggro you straight away, dont use drones untill you are at like 30km from those you dont want to aggro. I target the destroyers first and take them down in 2 volleys then fly to safe distance to release drones for the high bounty frigs that refuses to die.
Also in the respawn room, you only need to kill the overseer to finish the mission.

I love this mission. its funny. I did on my prophecy no problem here. I've managed to kill almost all rats before new rat repsawns it was for fun. anyway, you don't need to kill all rats just kill overseer and you're done

I have an excuse for doing that, I am doing mission in minnie space for first time, and have to use a level 1 agent, and all my combat skills are drones.
back OT use smartbombs on the buggers at the last stage. in fact, just sit there withsmartbombs running for a while. You make pretty can patterns.

"I have been trying this few times with Ferox equipped with 5 heavy launchers, 2 med. nosferatu, 2 x named med shield boosters, 2 x invulnearibility shield, low slots are for cap recharge upgrades, ballistic control and one WCS (learned to use WCS after I lost one Ferox to horde of rats with scrambler some where once...)""
OK, there are so many things wrong with your setup... I know a few people have touched on it but let me explain each thing.
Hi's: You have nosferatu's on a ferox for level 3's, that's just a waste of time. Frigates/Cruisers don't yield massive amounts of cap in the first place, just don't even bother with a NOS (no less 2 NOS) on level 3's.
Med's: 2 shield boosters??? What is that? Why on earth would you use two? Tanking is more about efficiency than how fast you can regen while using your cap up. Get the skills to use a medium t2 shield booster, that increases your overall tank by 25% over the best t1 you can use. This assumes you still want to active tank (Which does actually work better in a ferox, even tho most passive tank it because it's easier).
Next, don't use invuln fields. I know a lot of people on the forums like to tell people to use invulns in a ferox, don't. Unless you're doing PVP you have no business using an invuln in a ferox, period. If you are active tanking they are a MASSIVE cap drain... and if you're passive tanking correctly you likely don't have enough cap to even support one.
Finally, get your passive shield resistance skills up to at least level 2 for each type (won't take but a few hours) and use passive mods. If you can get those skills to level 4 your passive mods will actually yield great tanking results for an active tanking ship (the cap drain from actives has to be accounted for, which means their higher resists arn't quite as good as they seem.
Low's: Pick if you're going to active or passive tank then choose either PDS (active tank) or SPR (passive tank). If you can use t2 BCS then use 1-2 BCS and 2-3 PDS/SPR. As you get better at running the missions you can use 2-3 BCS and 1-2 PDS/SPR probably.
Check out my sig link if you want to see a detailed ranking of each popular ferox/raven tanking setup to see how they compare. An active tanked ferox is actually a BEAST... it's better than many Raven tanking setups amazingly. But a passive tanked ferox is still very good.

Thorax: 1x250mm Rails 4x150mm TechII Rails AB, two cap rechargers 1600mm plating, 2 hardeners (EM and thermal if I remember correctly) and cap power relay and TechII medium repairer.
5x Hammerheads.
It was like slicing through butter with hot knife. Keep your distance, let the drones and 250mm work for you, whatever comes closer, those 150mm guns will take it. You just have to control your drones and concentrate fire on one target.
