"Please note that the possibility of losing mission items through theft, damage, sale, or other means is considered an inherent risk in accepting work from agents"-GM
After having my Wei Todaki item stolen from me in the COSMOS mission chain which rewards a cumulative 1.6 billion isk in items, I became aware that it is considered a fair game play mechanic to steal and blow up other peoples required mission items and use extortion to extract money from your victim. You can find Wei Todaki in contracts for 750 million isk, to give you some idea of they money you can make for simply scanning someone down and stealing their required mission item, or threatening to blow it up if they don't pay you off.
The reason this works is that you cannot reset the COSMOS mission on downtime and have another chance at the item. If someone steals or blows up your Wei Todaki, it is gone for good. As with any mission, failure to complete results in a massive standing hit. This is a strong motivation to get your victim to pay up in addition to considering the time this person probably spent to get their standings up and capability of doing what is considered to be a difficult mission.
I encourage more high sec "pvpers" to camp the Otomainen system in order to steal this valuable mission item from unsuspecting mission runners so that this valuable and balanced conflict mechanic, brilliantly designed by CCP, can see more use. This is also in the Forge region so you can conduct your business transactions while waiting for players to start this COSMOS mission if you have the proper trading skills.
Stealing or threatening to blow up required mission items is a safe and easy way to earn income as a pirate. There aren't a lot of required lvl 4 mission items in contracts at the moment, so get out there and invade some mission runners. You could make a killing if you get someone who values their standings and has no alternative other than to buy from you.
Don't worry high sec mission runners, there is a solution to combat this. All you have to do is hit D-scan every second you are doing the mission and be ready to warp out the moment you see combat probes, even if you have to abandon your drones to do so. Then you can wait for whoever was using combat probes to leave system before continuing your mission. Hopefully they leave before downtime. If they don't leave before downtime, well....you can try sending them messages to see if they fell asleep yet. Let me guess, you ran across a guy named Princess ....
He is ALWAYS there, all day, everyday.
He has 3 chars that begin with "Princess ..."
1 is a covops prober, 2nd is a Gila and the 3rd he uses to sell Wei Todaki when people don't pay his ransoms.
Btw, all 3 chars are on 1 account, as he can be seen relogging while in action. I was in local once when he jacked some guy's mission, the tears were delicious to watch!

In a system near Deltole there is a hive queen drone that will give you a mission and this mission puts a beacon in the overview for all to see and warp to.
I stole some Russians drop who was running it with an alt in a Proteus, He shot the wreck forgetting that the Proteus pilot was not the mission runner, and he got blapped by concord. My only regret was that I didn't think to shoot him to.
Yeah a lot of cosmos missions its best to get the items you need for them before accepting. |

Just hypothetically, if someone was considering repairing their sec status to go play in highsec for a while, how would they know which missions had this "Wei Todaki" whatsit? Or do you just probe them all down and check them out? Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec. |

Stealing Wei Todaki from cosmos mission runners is a lame tactic tbh, the deadspace spawn to get to her is one of the hardest in all the cosmos missions and the fact some **** in a covert ops or other crappy ship can just fly in and nab the mission runners key loot without any effort on there part kinda proves that at times Eve's cut throat culture might go abit to far.
lets be honest the mission runner has no real chance of stopping this happening to them and can either pay the ransom, buy the item from the market or shoot the looter and get concorded, at the end of the day all the looter is risking is a criminal flag and has to put no work into what he is doing as the mission runner is doing all the work.
