I'm putting some ammo prints through material research (no pressing reason, just to complete a set....really don't *need* medium hybrid ammo prints)
I've watched the queue times for all the labs in my region climb daily. People are piling job on job, and did I misunderstand in the patch notes it said something to the effect that if someone cancels a job, it doesn't move everyone up?
Is there a limit to the queueing, or are all labs going to have a 20 or 30 day wait for a job in a couple months? They are up to about 8-15 days now...and I checked about 5 central empire regions and it seems not much better.
What I'm not really clear about is this rapid queue growth is relatively recent, last couple weeks or so....not from the start of the changes to print research, but all of a sudden lab demand is blooming. Unsure what exactly happened.

It -is- getting bad, even in the less populated areas. It's quite annoying to have to wait 3 days to get your Ammo BPO in for a few hours... It also means you can't "chain" things like those Ammo BPO's and put them in one after another. I mean, with 4 lab jobs, how am I expected to ever get Ammo BPO's researched?

I guess Trust, Blue and the ISS should start deploying Caldari outposts near the borders ^_^ -------

Well it seems that pos labs get a 75% decrease in copy times. Might be something to look into. You also don't need to have the bpo in the pos lab. just put it in the station in system and the pos can research it from there. Tools are there if you wanna use them.

Also with the relatively new tier two research skill, someone's research alt could tie up 50% of the labs in a station since it allows you to run up to 11 slots at the same time. Pretty crazy huh?

Once you got your BPO to decent levels, you don't need no research unless you'll go to spam Escrow with copies.
The new T2 BPO probably take a lot of the available research slots atm. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

I'm not quite sure about this, but since the latest patch, you can now cancel lab jobs. That lab time then dissapears. Now if you get your slot back upon cancelling. One newly created alt, could with abit of isk. Tie up an entire stations ME slots for as long as they feel like it /wish to spend the isk on it. No special skills required.
Pick BPO, put in for the max 30 days, pay fee (which can be as low as 90k for a month in some stations or lower), then cancel, and repeat.
Now this rapid expansion has only happened since the last patch. So I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. Then the more expensive slots are all that's left for people that just want to get their stuff done, so their queues are growing too.
The other side effect is that if you don't have to wait / have to wait a small time, you can just put on a small amount of runs, then repeat. But when the lead time is longer than your intended research time, you tend to want to get the whole lot done at once. |

I'm sure there are people already doing that. I hope this gets resolved so that when you cancel a job, the queue delays are adjusted accordingly. It would be really nice if there was a single queue that everything was installed in to. Then when a slot becomes available, the job is moved from the queue to the available slot. Jobs in queue can be cancelled, but not if its in a slot. This would have been the smarter, easier way of implementing this. Oh well...maybe they'll get it right in Kali.
