Edited by: Raluque on 21/03/2006 16:26:25 Im not talking about skills here im talking about cost.. Whats the average price of setting up a corp? 1.5mil...
How many days does it take to get 1.5mil if you start eve ? Around 2 in an Ibis mining/ratting..
Theres far too many Under 10man corps roaming about, which don't actually do anything.. Im just thinking maybe raise the cost to 10mil? or have concord impose a "corporation recognition fee" of maybe 1.5mil every month? Not much changes but that slight isk flow may just change things...

Yes, and lucky you would be able to swallow up all those newly corp-less people into gigantic megacorps. This is such a thinly-veiled attempt to shut out your competition it's sick.

Not everyone wants to belong to a huge corporation and be just one of the zillion unknown member of that corp. As in the real world there are one man corporations till corporations holding hundred of thousand peoples.
So, EVE just reflect the real world very much in this case.

Every corp has to start somewhere, and you dont instantly have 100 members within an hour of starting a corp.
A corp is also a great way to share resources between your accounts and friends if need be, which is in my eyes one of the building blocks of a corporation.

Oh no, frigates are really cheap and everyone with just a tiny bit of cash and training, can use them, clearly there's far too many of them and this is a big problem.
Sorry, I don't see the problem - corps all have to start somewhere. If corp members have fun, and enjoy themselves, well, so be it.
I'd _rather_ see 100,000 1 person corps, than I would 40,000 people in newbie/npc corps. -- We are recruiting

Actually,
I feel that it's to hard to create a corp. It took a friend of mine a month to do it. Not all people can play more than a couple of hours a week so getting the extra 1.5 mil takes a while for a new player. They also need to get going in the game and usually don't have an extra 1.5 mil just laying around nor the skill training time to waste right away.
Perhaps a two tiered corp setup? Anyone can setup a corp with a level 1 skill and say 250k isk. but it's limited to one office and can only have 3 members all of the same race. You need to upgrade your corp to have multiple offices, say a fee of 2.5 mill per office, possibly tied to a skill level also?
Probably a bad idea, but...
As a side note, I like the idea of a lot of smaller corps. I don't see any problems with them.
Suren.

I do think that old corps with no active members should be "disolved" or be able to "buy them out" or "Merger" so you can consilidate smaller companys.

"Because it's irritating" isn't a good enough reason. Pirates are irritating, too. Let's not go down that path.
The 1.6 million isk I spent to form my own solo corp was a decent chunk of cash to me at the time. After a few months of playing, it became apparent that I needed to leave the npc corp. I'm not the sort of person who believes in corp-hopping, so I created my own to tide me over until I meet up with a corp where I truly belong.
There's no need to tax me just because you don't like my playstyle.

It is irritating because he lacks the imagination. He must think it takes hundreds of players in one corporation to make anything happen. I have see a 10 man merc corp totally destroy a 127 man corporation. The size of the corporation means nothing as long as those within that corporation are having fun playing the game that THEY pay for. No one has the right to tell someone how many people need to be in their corporation....we aren't trying to make all corporations into N0ob corporations here.

Oh hey... is that a valid reason? SWEET! Here, I'd like to list the following things that I'd like changed in the game because it irritates me.
#1. Giving characters named Garrack any less than 150B per day is irritating. Please fix that. #2. Not giving characters named Garrack a Raven as a shuttle is irritating. Please fix that. #3. Having anyone bigger or smarter than me be able to blow up my ship anywhere in the known univers is irritating. Please fix that. #4. Allowing people to post stuff that they don't like and ask us to fix it just because it's irritating... is irritating! Please fix that!
Oh, wait...
<chuckle>
In all seriousness, though... you really can't base changes off of "you don't like it". CCP will likely respond if 80,000 people bring something up and it doesn't totally trash the game... but come on... <10 member corps? Who gives a fart? --- Singing: "I ain't got no siggy..." |

Irritating? I will tell you what is irritating...
Starting your day like every other day, walking to the train early in the morning, 7am. Arriving at the station and wondering why everyone is on the wrong side of the tracks, some people panicking and all staring in one direction. Then you look on the train tracks and there is a man, or two parts of a man. One part of him on one side of the track, and the other part on the other side, leg twitching. Police arrive and quickly cover the corpse. This is something I will never forget in my head.
This is irritating. For his wife and children he left behind. That is irritating.
Puts things into perspective doesnĘt it? This game is just that, a game.
Please people, be careful around trains, they are deadly.

Hrm, anyway...
I agree that every-newbie-and-his-dog shouldnt be able to set up a corp. IMHO we should have:-
* More base requirements on the Corp Management skill. It needed to be easy to train back at release, but now it doesnt. There is also precident for changing the requirements of skills already ingame, you never used to need light+heavy missile 3 for cruise.
* Corp creation cost increased to 50m. Its a lotta paperwork ya know? I dont have a problem with 10 man corps but untill we get more stability in corps we will never see shares etc properly implimented.
* Alliance creation cost increased to 3bill. They should be few and far between, there are lots of random alliances these days that dont even claim any space :/

I think it is too easy to start playing the game of Eve Online.
I propose we have to pre-order the game copy for 3 easy payments of $19.99, followed by a fourth that must be payed in Wampum.
Then when the software arrives on punchcards, which must then be copied to disk, somehow.
When installing, you should have to enter a security code 40 characters long, which is typed in WingDings font.
Next, waiting for the voice authorization phone call, in Chinese.
Once you are confirmed, you start in your pod and must run delivery missions to earn your noob ship.
Thank heavens I'm already signed up.

Edited by: Spahn X on 23/03/2006 11:04:39 I wouldn't have a problem with corp building costs being raised substantially, so long as there was an easy method to transfer dozens of items from one of your characters to another.
Could you imagine trying to be patient enough to escrow 150 items from your main to your alt?
Nah, I much prefer corp hangars. Sadly the only way to get a corp hangar is to, well, you guessed it, HAVE TWO CHARACTERS IN A CORP!
And while we're on the topic of things that are irritating. Seeing all this damn space junk used as bookmarks at points is irritating me. Scanning the system for someone to blow up gets frustrating when you keep seeing the same space junk in the display. Please, keep our universe clean.

If you are a real beginner 2 days is waaaaaaay off the mark. You dont have an alt to buy all your skillbooks and eq you gotta self finance. Personally i think 1.5m is quite a lot for a newb to raise. You dont remember sitting in a 1.0 mining veldspar in a POS frig thinking omg 7m for a cruiser thats going to take forever!!11?
As a new player i see so many posts saying things like remove instas / make things cost more etc etc and im sure its a great idea if your already worth a billion but it sucks MUCH if you are just starting out.

1.5 mil is easy nowadays, all you need to do is complete the 2 training missions, follow up with the 8 part storyline get the implant, quick sell and in under 2 hrs you have 2.5 mil.
1 main 2 alts, 1 morning and you have enough cash for corp creation and skillbooks for the next 2 months. Rinse and repeat with the alts over a week and theres your isk for advanced learning skills and a cruiser.
I did this on another account and it works a treat.

I wonder buy people try to raise taxes, fees and other penalties in eve. I see those threads allover the forums. I wonder what psychological effect eve has on the individual...
But back to topic: Why should it get more expensive? If u have a corp u get aplace where you can sort ur stuff easier in 6 tabs and the hangar and to pay for that 1.5m should be enough. I guess thats the main reason to start a corp, it makes manufacturing and research just easier.
so my opinion: It is not necesarry to raise fees.

I agree with Raluque, here's how I look at it:
I can take FPS-Online as an example. A long time ago through a 56 kB/s modem far, far away, a clan tag meant that the player was a devoted gamer, who put serious effort in playing, and competing with other clans.
Nowadays, 9/10 CounterStrike players have [Bananas are yellow] or something in front of their name, which has taken away the initial purpose of the tags.
An Eve corporation should symbolize that "this is a group of devoted players who has achieved something considerable", and therefore it should be harder to found a corp.
The easier it gets to found a corp, the more meaningless mini-corps will appear and this is not something that I'd like to see in the game.

Rinse and repeat with the alts over a week and theres your isk for advanced learning skills and a cruiser.
and of course someone that just started playing is totally aware of this way of making ISK Its a good method to be fair but the OP was acting like any old n00b can raise 1.5 mill in a day and i was merely stating that in fact only people that already know how to play can do that. .

Look on the bright side of it... you can wardec them ;)
too many folks complaining that too many people in noob corp and now you complaining that its too easy to make a corp :s
great lets get more people out of noob corps by making it harder to set up a corp.
Even if it was just me I would use a corp to arrange my belongings and such... if you have a problem with people being in a corp remove them from it violently and have them join noob corp ;) Proving natural selection and Charles Darwin wrong since 1981.

I stand by my earlier point... easy to set up but hard to run (well). -----------------------------------------------
