One post says -
"most of our pilots are new and itching to get into a fight" <- Frigate pilot
Seems that would be 90% of your forces?
Then another post says
"Just wait until we all jump into our Battleships...blah blah" <- O RLY ?
All i see is a Large scale Corp. of Alts and as many Noobs recruited for 'PVP' as possible.
Safety in Numbers for Goonfleet?
Well, second engagement last night. Whether you were returning from an OP or whatever. When in 0.0 you should always be ready to fight, be organised, alert etc.
Again, check our losses. Then look at your own.
50% of your fleet flying to station in Pods in the first 25sec's of battle was great fun to see

Safety in Numbers for Goonfleet?
I dont see how you don't get that. We just finished a recruiting drive bringing in literally hundreds of new players. Some will stay, some will leave. In 1-2 months many of them will be in BS's, and in another 2-3 months after that they'll be specialized in either BS's or T2 ships. So yes, it is logically consistent to note that although many of our newbies are in frigates now that they'll be flying in other ships soon.
As for safety in numbers: of course. There are multiple viable strategies for PvP'ing in eve. Bringing superior numbers to compensate for lack of skillpoints/equipment is just one of these.
I think that the current flame war here in this thread is because both groups find that fighting each other can be quite frustrating. In the one time that I fought with Penetrate I wasted about 45 minutes to an hour waiting for them to leave their safespots and open engagements. On the other end, it is of course frustrating to want to fight only to realize that the fleet on the other side of the gate has 50+ pilots with drones out.
But so what? Each side is going to maximize their chances of survival and victory and taking advantage of their inherent strengths. Penetrate with their smaller fleets composed of better ships and higher SP pilots can't afford to just blindly charge into battle and use various methods to shape the battlefield to their advantage. Conversely, goonfleet, with their larger fleets made up of weaker ships and lower SP pilots oftentimes needs to rely on its mass to win victories. There are of course exceptions to the rule as GF has many older and experienced pilots and I'm sure that Penetrate has done a few "damn the torpedos, full speed ahead" type manuevers.
Quote: 50% of your fleet flying to station in Pods in the first 25sec's of battle was great fun to see
A lot of the newbies that I'm partly responsible for mentoring were out in that fight and I for one am glad that they got to experience a real 0.0 fleet op within their first week of playing. Whether they came back home in a pod or not they still got some great experience and hopefuly formed good habits.
edit: and in case anyone saw a lone blackbird hauling tail back home, that would have been me. After a 3 hour op and work the next day in 5 hours, I needed to go to bed and get to sleep. Does it show a lack of discipline? Well yeah. But this is also a game and sometimes people chose to take risks in the name of convenience. I imagine that this was the case with the tempest that you ganked.

Yes it is is a valid tactic and is effective, just a bit disspointing to see you saying how well you are doing and making out you are good PVPers which some of you certainly are but then having to resort to the lame tactics of a full rack of WCS, if you want to fight then fight not fit for retreat - Just seems abit hypocritical thats all
You can see a bit of a fight we had with Suprem here sadly our only loss was the guy frapsing that fight but u get the drift it aslso shows us owning dark at the end :P Suprem-Dark fight

The result was even ??????? your killboards are very badly wrong LOL unless you are using KIATOLANS meth of
you have 500x our size so 1 bil in loss to you is as bad as us loosing 500k
cause to come to the result you have that would be about the formula

Your ships use expensive t2 fittings, ours usually don't. When one of your guns is worth more than ten of our ships, going by base ship value is a little silly.
That said, there's a reason that killboard links are prohibited on this forum. Suffice to say, I think our guys did reasonably well for themselves, considering (apart from Azaeraen's foolish Tempest loss, which was his own fault) and the amount of forum prancing that has resulted amuses me.

As I stated before, I was the only T2 fitted battleship to get ganked, stupidly on my behalf. So other then me getting killed, losing about 30m insurance+50M in fittings=80m out of my pocket. Oh wait, I really didnt lose anything because of me using looted enemy gear. GG. 30m out of my pocket.
Anyway, Penetrate ranks right up there with..Hell, You're the lamest bunch Ive ever seen in 2 years of eve playtime.

Edited by: Trac3rt on 24/03/2006 15:10:50 Firstly, you guys were the ones afraid to engage on our terms. You asked our fleet commanders for safe passage into the system so you could warp around with stabs sniping our fleet. You were afraid to jump in and engage us on our terms, yet we were not afraid to jump and engage on your terms. That alone says something!
Secondly, you have claimed that every goonfleet frigate killed had at least one stab on it? I have just gone through the killmails, and there were only two ships destroyed fitting stabs; an Osprey and a Stabber. More stabs were on the killmails from your three losses than were on the 30 kills you got on us.
Thirdly, you lost 3 Battleships with T2 equipment. Our killboard shows 30 losses; 24 Frigates, 4 Cruisers, and 1 Battlecruiser. At an extremely expensive estimate of 2mil a frigate, 10Mil a cruiser, and 40Mil a BC you destroyed 128Million worth of equipment. You lost a Scorp, Raven, and Dom. The Dom and Scorp were using T2 gear. I cannot see how you can claim to have come out financially ahead in that engagement.
Fouthly, it is nice to see that you keep up to date on local politics. You are obviously aware that Goonfleet have been assisting The Five and raiding G and IRON space for the last couple of weeks.
Finally, it is a strong sign of insecurity when you have to make public announcements for every little acheivement you wish you had made. So you have banded up and gotten a bunch of kills over the last few weeks? Who cares! This is a desperate cry for attention, jumping up and down waving your hands in the air like a kid with downs shoulding "LOOK AT MEEEE!". I am sorry, but the whole of Eve is not going to suddenly take notice and suck you off over this, all threads like this acheive is excessive smack. Before reading this I thought your smack in local couldn't get any more retarded... I was wrong! Please grow up and learn how to spell!

Your facts are wrong 3 battleships from goonfleet were downed in the first fight you talk of but he nvm if u dont want to admit it its fine by me we had fun and we know that 100 to 20 we came out far far ontop and we been killing 10's of your battleships flying around this space on top of that.....

You've got to be kidding me. 20 ships jumping into 130 so we could play on your terms? Give me a break Trac3rt. I'm trying really hard not to tell you how stupid that sounds, and I won't because you obviously feel validated stating such. My only advice to you would be to put yourself in our shoes and ask yourself what you would have done. Wait... if you do that and still say you would have jumped in on a 130+ fleet... perhaps you should remain silent unless you wish to remove all doubt as to how you would look (as the old adage goes).
Originally by: Trac3rt Edited by: Trac3rt on 24/03/2006 15:10:50 Secondly...
And our kill mails say different. Moot point really as there will always be questions about killmails and they are rarely accurate according to either side.
Originally by: Trac3rt Edited by: Trac3rt on 24/03/2006 15:10:50 Thirdly...
See Above and just to split hairs - NOTE: in your first sentence, you say "you lost 3 Battleships with T2 equipment... and in your second to last sentence say "The Dom and Scorp were using T2 gear"
Again, this leads to plausibility. You're losing ground.

we produce almost everything from scratch, most of our losses are slim to none on frigates, its only those of us that use T2 gear that incurr the losses.
All I can say is keep up whatever it is you are doing, you are training our new players for us, I cut my teeth on two-bit corps such as yours in my day, it is now time for the new gen to learn how to take out the trash.

Interdictors ftw.
Our corp killed 3 of their stab packing bs's. Once the interdictor makes them stand still their gimped setups help you kill them.

Who "wins" is, in examples like this, all about perspective, the key thing though is the goal, without a goal the statistics are meaningless. To make this clear, if the goal of china was to invade Luxemburg and it did so at the cost of half of luxemburgs army and half of its own, then clearly China has won, even though its taken significantly more losses. Of course if it doesn't take luxemburg then you could probably say that its lost, due to the fact that its taken a lot more losses. Whats the relevance? The fact that you don't seem to (oh I'm sure theres some high and mighty objective that you won't reveal claiming some uber secret battle technique)have any kind of objective is why you are getting laughed at by your losses. You are losing more then we are, even taking into account the odd tech 2 ship lossage, so without you stating your objective eg "to kill a higher percentage of our enemy then they kill of us" then you will appear to be the losers. Of course while you state that you create things from scratch don't forget we do as well, ravens cost us ~21 mil fully outfitted and we have BPO's for almost all of what we use. Even putting that aside we have so many resources both in terms of individuals wealth and corp wealth that we can afford to lose our tech 2 ships and fittings at the same rate that you lose your tech 1 versions. So basically unless you want to clearly state a goal that shows that your loss rate is irrelevant and its about some other factor, then you are going to appear as the losers to the vast majority of the spectators.
