Fair enough. Tbh I hate snipers as well. Personally I do it the old fashion way....up close and personal.
I see your point, but your point applies to about every entity in EVE. Pirates, mercs, and 0.0 gankers.
To say pirates is any worse is just wrong. Though I know of some areas in space that are 'infected' with these people you speak of. Even though they are fellow pirates I would kill them without thinking twice.

Nice to see you've finally developed the coconuts to post with your main, Mr "Amarr Citizen 105".
As for the -10 stuff... I'm only -9.998 so I'll stay seated for now...
Still, over recent weeks, I've seen a few of the old school pirate names returning to the fray... and it's looking GOOD for the future. Hopefully it'll weed out the weaker ones who're just playing flavour of the month and send them back to empire.
Nice to see you're coming back to the Dark Side Kal...

Originally by: Lady Ariness When I go out hunting other pirates (as I frequently do) I usually end up either being ganked or them running with stabs. Unless they have a 100% chance of winning, or have stabs, they will never engage. Even 2v1.
But I guess that's what piracy is thesedays: Killing others and getting away. It sucks.
Sorry, i agree that stabs are wimpy and blobs suck and all, but i just couldnt help myself:
"Killing others and getting away." why YES!!! that is what pirating is about? how else CAN you do it and profit from it? Its not that fact that is my problem. i mean of COURSE i try to get away if i am gonna die. Im a pirat, not a kamikaze pilot after all..
The problem is the way you go about it. Fitting stabs and blobbing is not the way.
(start mad rambling).... But then i dont like instas either... Using something the head developer of EVE hates, and is basically an exploit so widespread that they cannot take it away without giving a viable option nowadays is still an exploit in my opinion. ... Liez, we are not forum warriors we are forum pirates, here to steal your threads!
I will go on topic and say...there are a fair few pirates out there who want to fight a good fight, but the job is finding them.
A nice -10 list with an easier way to find them other than an agent grind would be good.
Lately Im finding it hard to get past the undocking stage, its finally dawned on me (taken a while) that piracey is awful and just aint what it used to be.
I was not refering to you sir, respect to tdg.
I have no forum alts.
There, i just contributed nothing to your thread |

5 of us were in system but 2 afk. (me included) the tempest you challenged didnt actually have a setup on. how can he fight with no setup? so that leaves 2 bs, 1 unfitted, versus 2 bs and sentry guns.
oh, and apparently saltire agreed, and said 'not at the station, at a planet' ecven tho he didnt have a setup.
he undocked, and you engaged him, at the station.

Hey Kal. Glad to see you're having fun. I wonder what would happen if the stab system blew up *scratches head* guess pirates are just going to have to form uber tackler squads 4 ceptors to tackle 1-2 BSs to pummle.
or ccp can make interdictor bubbles in low sec non aggressive acts that would be cool.
anyway when you hit -10 you need to let us know.. :P havn;'t been a pirate yet but it sounds fun.. tech 1 cruisers ftw... Some people are like slinkies... good for nothing but fun to push down the stairs |

It doesn't mean anything because piracy is to easy now. I think I would be -10 if I would stop going to 0.0 but then again I only goto 0.0 because it's not as easy.
So where have the good pirates gone you say? Do you have eyes? I mean if your whole def of a good pirate is someone who will fight you, not snipe you, not wear stabs, and pretty much allow you to be "even". Then I think you got the whole piracy thing twisted. Sure Angel Deep, ATUF, HUFF, Veto, and whoever else might be good pirates but if they still do what they do with stabs, snipe, and even it up for you then they're not "good pirates"?
I really don't understand most of you forum guys. You all sit there and cry about how piracy is dead or there is no good pirates yet people are out there smacking people around, taking there isk, straight up ganking them for there loot, and all you can say is "There is no good pirates who arn't cheap and weak!". Hate to break it to you. Most of us are in empire killing easy targets for a reason. Sure some of us can really fight if we need to but really do you think Veto is all good pvp combat pilots? Do you think people would fear a bunch of empire guys who made a name for them selves on the forums compared to umm some alliance sheep hoard? (Using Veto as an example)
Get real already. Kill or be killed. Ransom or be ransomed. There is no limitions here in our sandbox known as eve. Piracy is very much alive and there is a number of good pirates still out there.

Yesterday I made about 50 jumps in low sec space. I made instas for an entire constellationą. In a slasher with no stabs. There were no pirates about; as a matter of fact someone was mining in a burst.
The Day before I amused myself by teasing 5 pirates of the same corp by jumping in and out of there gate camp for about an hour without instas.
Noob pirates are a boon to us risk taking carebears. A perfect example is why I made those instas. Noob pirate X camps gate. I watch what happens on scanner. Noob pirate gets a kill but cannot tank sentries at all so he warps out for 15 minutes. I warp in and collect can. WEEEE! Free stuff! This Technique has netted me about 2 mill in usless dookie in one day. Not much I know but I donĘt have to use so much as a single EMP round.

This whole 'real' pirate thing is crazy. If you think about it, why should someone accept a offer to do a 1 vs 1 to death ?.. I certainly wouldn't, it's simply a waste of isk and much more fun could be had shooting people who don't want to be shot.
People have a go at some 'pirates' coz they run away to quickly, but the urge to stay in the fight longer gets more the longer you've been playing eve. I used to warp out when tank was just about to fail, these days I stay until hull is disappearing. My biggest probem in eve atm is not stabs, they are fine and can be countered, but it's EW ruining the game. With every other ship these days jamming, hunting solo at gates is dam dangerous, dangerous being that I'll lose more isk than I make and won't be able to sustain my style of game play. If I can't sustain my style of game play I'll just quit and return to ganking people in stanglethorn vale (WOW)
At the end of the day if I can make enough isk to pay for the ships I lose, then thats a good balance. If your stock piling isk then you are being to careful. If you get this balance just right however, you'll have a ton of fun whatever your sec status.

These forums are absolutely overburdened with posts decrying the playing style of others. I think it deserves only one response:
Until you pay for the subscription/s of the person or corp you are complaining about, you have no right to utter a word of complaint about their style of play, unless of course it is exploiting some aspect of the game.
What's more, all this sentimental rubbish about real, 'old' pirates and whatever else is laughable. Everything in this game is changeable and context based, so any notion of what a 'real' pirate, or 'real' pvper is will change with the game. Just because some of the more notorious pilots preferred a particular playing style, does not legitimate that style as the only correct one.

Yeah Spyres is right, just because some want to camp gates it doesn't make them any less of a pirate, -10 means nothing anyway.

1) Pirates/Thiefs 2) Outlaws 3) Terrorists 4) dumbasses/roughnecks
4 different Eve Professions, sadly all of them fall under the term "Pirate".
Most wannabee Pirates would be Number 3) and/or 4). There are only a few Pirates that act like thiefs or outlaws who make a living from stealing, i.e. ransom > kill. It's not hard to be self sufficient from just ransoming people....
But discussing something like that on e-o.com is quite pointless - Veto. ftw!

umm ok?
It would be nice to always ransom but most of the time when you're umm solo it's kind of hard to do anything but kill there asses for that loot. Call me a terrorist or a outlaw, still getting that can.

The tempest was fitted as he was armour repping.
I didnt ask for a 1vs1 I offered a 5vs2 in the ships you were currently in which I believe was/would have been about 3bs a bc and a ceptor against our 2 bs. I shot the tempest out of frustration knowing he would dock.
But if 2 of you were afk then fair enough 3vs2 would have been a big ask I guess.

Quote: Famine you kill npc'rs and haulers in 0.0 no difference between that and empire except u get bigger blobs in 0.0
Don't assume to know what I target. I fly small and well I can only hit other things small (to avoid those blobs). I do try to aim to catch 0.0 indys mostly. They're the easiest targets due to there slow agility (Without using a bubble). Blobs arn't a big deal and I don't know why people fear them but it's more about finding targets than going there because it's 0.0. Lots of pirates out there and a lot of them don't move around. So it's hard to move in those spots they seem to camp. So yes there is a big diffrence.
P.S Killing NPC'ers is harder in 0.0 than in empire. Empire you got morons, most all 0.0 npc'ers will log or SS soon as someone enters who looks hostile. If you're able to snag a npc'er in 0.0. Then consider your self a win because obviously they're braindead like the empire guys =)

To make it short: TDG is the last original pirate corp - still with the original members Xpohoc, Tenacha Kahn, Pfffft, Orthan and myself. 3 years! And i will answer your question: the old piracy style died! Even for us its impossible to fly arround with 2 BS in 0.0 - we would get ganked after 5 or 6 jumps by alliance blobs. So we had to adapt and we use evil tactics like sniping, ninja camping, ganking, alt scouting, alliance spys and and and. There is simply no other way to make ISK with PVP. So what you miss is the old days where corps like the Jokers or ours flew arround in 0.0 in groups of 2-4 ships. These days are over! Get over it and get ganked!

hrrrm what? You can't fly in 0.0 without getting blobbed and ganked? I don't understand that at all. I understand what you're saying about people blobbing you. You goto alliance space and cause havok you will get blobbed but umm it's not that complicated to get around. I mean Inty fleets or squads can do a lot of damage. You're pretty much invuln and can move all over hell with the quickness. Same applies to HAC squads or fleets and Cruiser squads or fleets. Anyways, how come corps like Burn Eden can do that, go into 0.0 kill some ships ect possiably even ransom instead of kill and this elite only original pirate corp left can't?
Makes no sense to me...
Look at your tools
-Cloaking Technology -Cloaking Pvp style Ships -WCS's -Instas -Map -Agile ships -Roaming
I think Lorth just posted up a topic on how he can't die ever. He is a 0.0 pilot in a alliance/pvp corp. How come one man can be invuln from all of that and a whole corp can't?
