I've seen people use XL on a NH :/ change to pith x-type large then

Why is nobody using Heavy Assault Missiles?
My Nighthawk is set up exactly like somebody else already posted:
6 * heavy launcher II 1 * med nos 1 * large shieldbooster II 1 * EM hardener II 1 * invuln field II 1 * shield amp II 1 * 20km scrambler 1 * DCU II 2 * PDU II 2 * BCU II 2 * cap control circuit (optional)
I'm almost done training for heavy assault missiles, that's why I haven't got a setup with them yet. I think I could fit them without changing anything.

ItÆs a good tank and gives max damage but could only provide support in PvP. But I suppose thatÆs the point in these ships really. It can take any kind of PvE spawn (so far) and might be good enough for harder Level IVs.
Nice, I tried ur setup for lvl 4 missions.

Man this ship can really tank pretty well. With this setup the tank is infinite running. But the Em is strong enough to keep u alive in most Sansha. Guess i need tweaking.
But its really fun actually. BUt you do need to have a m8 with u to add the damage tho. These DPS of these missles isnt enought to break tank fast. BUt overall this setup needs tweaking.
Maybe drop 1 inv field for a rat specific hardner (mostly EM anyway) .
This ship has really nice tank potential.
not for solo tho .
the origional set up si better but i sawp out the 3rd invulny field for a rat specific (EM if i was gona PvP).

They don't have the range that the heavies do. The t2 ammo is better on the heavies too.

I can't see how range is a big factor in alot of everyday pvp situations. Most fights are in scramble range anyway.

Edited by: Bael''Zhaeron on 15/01/2007 16:01:42 I pvp in my nighthawk and i must say so far i am impressed with the ship.
High: 6* T2 Heavy 1* Small nos
Med: 1* Photon t2 hardner 1* Invul t2 1* Electrochem injector (800 charges with 19 in cargo) 1* 20km scram 1* Large shield booster T2
Low: 1* DC T2 2* BCU T2 2* PDU T2
I run solo sometimes and then i use the scram otherwise i use a passsive em hardner So far ive fought a raven and a mega solo and won by the skin of my teeth. I tank BC and down without problem. with the passivehardner i got 89.6 as highest resist and 80.2 as lowest. And i use Fury to gank quick and with cap injector i dont need to bother with the diminshed cap regen.

if you drop the 20km why not run another invul II
tbh this looks like a great fitting it's what I'd use if I could fly it =P I suppose it'll have to wait for a while 3x cruiser 5 is enough for now
I'd get that pith a-type med shield booster tho, does 224 in 3 sec i think for 60 energy, too hawt.

well using a invul t2 extra gives little bonus to the resist and it really sucks alot of cap from you if u got fury missiles loaded. Using a passive hardner gives you 80% resist on em . And it requiers no cap to sustain it.

a photon II and 2x invul sure as hell will give you more then 80% on EM? :/

I agree with the extra passive hardner vs. Invuln II. I use the pith a medium for missions only. (it's expensive)
Latley I've been playing with no booster passive tanks for pvp and have had great success. Nos Domi with Ogre IIs could not get me past 70% shields with a genereal pvp resists setup(75% em is lowest) Combine that with Heavy furies With 2 BCUIIs poor domi didn't know what to do.
6x Heavy Missile IIs
1x Photon Hardner II 1x I nvuln II 1x 20km Scrambler (tech II now that they are out) 2x Large shield extender IIs
3x shield power relay I 2x Ballistic Control II
2x Shield Recharge rigs <--- Advice?
Around 110/sec regen with 75%em being lowest and 85%thermal.
If your in a gang Drop the Scrambler and 2x Shield Extender IIs for 3x Large aestropic? Shield Extenders(fitting requirements)
So far the intial encounters have been very successful and my opinion has completely changed since the tides of combat are Nos, Nos, Nos....

i would run all lvl 4 CN security missions in a cerebrus with ease except the last round of "enemies abound" something about several 400+ dmg torps hitting me constantly. i just sold my cerebrus and bought a nighthawk. what did i get for 3.6 mil extra? just under 2.5x the shields, armor and structure with the same recharge rate, similar resists, 3x the cap, an extra low and high slot, 25m3 drone space, 50m3 more cargo, the 6th launcher spot, plus more cpu and grid. drawbacks? slightly worse scan resolution, double the signature radius and a bit slower (but i currently have some navigation to train so i wont notice anyway). at command lvl V you fire as fast with an extra launcher with the same dmg. overall it is much better for missions than a cerebrus or bs. in a cerebrus without drones i finish WWC and the last stage of gurristas and angel extravaganzas still popping the 1-2 mil isk bs's with regular heavy missles. for missions it is very much worth it but not for pvp solo.

Yes it gives u more then 80% but it's not by much and it sucks ALOT of cap when u got 6 t2 fury missiles loaded. so therefore i dont fit it just a pssive one.

Well here is my setup for all around tanking cause thats what this ship does... it tanks.
Highs : 6 x Heavy Launcher II 1 x Siege Warfare Link - Shield Harmonizing
Mids : 2 x Large Shield Extender II 2 x Dread Guristas Magnetic Scattering Amplifier 1 x Dread Guristas Kinetic Deflection Amplifier
Lows : 5 x Shield Power Relay II
Rigs : 2 x Core Defence Purger I
I have : 1.3 mil SP in Engineering 1 mil in Leadership 2.3 mil in Missiles I get 231 and some change for missiles but they fire at 6.56 seconds which isnt bad. i get 211 per sec in shield hp going passive and cap obviously isnt an issue. My resists are 76 Em, 70 Exp, 85 Kin, and 77 Thm. i havent met anyone that can break my tank yet. i run solo in 0.0 on a daily basis but it is made for gang activities which others enjoy all my bonuses. Try it out. It's very uber

Highs:
6x HML II, salvager I or small tractor beam I
Mids:
3x LSE II 2x rat specific hardener (2 t2 kinetic hardeners puts you over 93% kinetic resistance)
Lows*:
2x PDU II 3x BCU II
Rigs: 2x shield recharger rigs, not max shields
Unless you royally screw something up, you will tank any and all lvl 4 missions in this ship setup. Throw in some cheap 3% shield hp/Regen, and 3% heavy missile dmg/rof implants, and you'll easily be around 100 shield/sec peak Regen, and enough DPs (with kinetic) to kill any lvl 4 NPC, including the guristas Vengeance NPC.
*need good fitting skills otherwise you'll have to go 3 PDU IIs and 2 BCU IIs.

Im going to get my nighthawk next week and I was thinking for level 4 missions solo:
Highs: 6x HML II, 1x tractor beam
Meds: 2x LSE II, 2x DG hardners/1x DG hardner & 1x DG/T2 Invun, 1x Shield Recharger II
Lows: 2x BCU II, 3 SPR II (Changeable if I need the extra tank or DPS)
Rigs: 1x Core Field Purger I, 1x Core Field Purger II
Some stats I got from Quick Fit: Shield HP (regen) : 12066.0 HP (209.89sec) Max Shield Regen : 143.72 per sec (approx.) Shield EM : 77.25 % Shield Explo : 81.25 % Shield Kinetic : 82.42 % Shield Thermal : 85.94 %
Able to fit it with Advanced Weapon Upgrades 2 with a tiny bit of CPU and PG left. Shield compensation skills still need a bit of work but most of my engineering skills are up to spec. Cap lasts perminatly resting on 80% (unless 2x Invuns are fitted, then it lasts over 30 minutes until I train energy management V when it will perma tank.)

I'm curious as to what implants and skills you have that allow a gang mod to fit into that setup?

I am also curious as to how long it takes him to warp a second time. 5x SPRIIs? I thought that makes your capacitor implode in on itself.

Just wondering.
NightHawks are 200m?
Ravens can sleepwalk thru lvl 4 missions.
Drakes can slowboat thru lvl 4 missions.
If not for PvP then why a commandship?
And if a commandship why a Caldari one?
Can anyone name another race's tech one ship that could kill a Caldari command ship that would take less time to train for from scratch? I'm sure someone can.
These are actual questions because I'm a Drake/Raven pilot (Rokh blew up) and wanting to cross train.
In RL I prefer a Corvette over a Porsche well 1)cause I can spell it 2) its faster and 3) it costs less.
I respect the Slepnir because it IS a killing machine. Astarte also. But NH and Cerb, not so much. Cool ships but not so isk efficient in terms of gank or even tank. Now if the NH gets a ROF bonus that allows 500 DPS, well that's getting there. The Slepnir gets 900+ dps tho I think.

might as well post my setup, probly the same as alot of others but whatever.
high: 6x heavy launcher 2's, 1 medium nos.
mids: large shield booster 2, 2 active/passive specific hardeners, 2 shield boost amp 2's
lows: 2 BCU 2's, 3 PDU 2's
rigs: 2 CCC rigs.
more then enough for a lvl 4 mission, and with good skills can do a mission almost as fast as a raven. the large booster permaruns for 426 (on my skills) shields every 4 seconds with decent resists.
good ship, much more fun then a raven. |

Won't fit. HAM launchers take too much grid. The following setup barely fits:
6 HAM II 1 tractor beam (because you can't fit anything else worthwhile)
1 large shield booster II 1 Y-T8 10MN MWD (can fit tech II, but the speed difference isn't that great and it takes more cap) 1 warp disruptor II 1 invulnerability field II 1 medium electrochem cap injector
3 ballistic control system II 2 reactor control II
1 EM rig 1 shield boost duration reduction rig
Note the fact that you have to fit TWO reactor control II's to make it all work. You can't do power diagnostics at all.
On the plus side, DPS numbers look like this for the various terror assault missile variants (HAM spec 4, rapid launch 5, warhead upgrades 4):
Rage 571.4 Caldari Navy 547.67 Tech 1 476.05 Javelin 404.65
Not the best setup, but it's what fits.
EDIT: If you go with a dread guristas large shield booster, you'll free up enough CPU to fit a cloak in the last highslot instead of a tractor. This also allows you to remove the shield booster duration rig and replace it with another EM resist rig. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire
