I think it's actually a CONCORD rank...but yeah, I think Aegis is a better choice for the Gallente Tier 3. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Let's look deeper into this for BC and BS :
Caldari gets the love of animals ( Ferox (ok, exception here) Vulture/Nighthawk, Scorpion, Raven, etc... ) Minmatar gets the climatic ( Cyclone, Tempest, Typhoon ) Amarr is on heavy destruction ( Prophecy, Apocalypse, Armageddon ) Gallente, well I don't know what they are up to, maybe power or something ( Brutix, Dominix, Megathron )
Considering this, why not stick with those traditions ?
Amarr BC : Legend BS : Annihilation
Caldari BC : Roach BS : Albatros
Gallente BC : Harshus ( Harshix ? ) BS : Superion
Minmatar BC : Tsunami BS : Sirocco

Well the Gallente is easy. Brutix's big brother will be called something like Metellix or Ligarix (see Wm Shakespeare's Julius Caesar). The Dominix and Megathron will be joined by the new Ligotagier battleship. That's my guess anyway. I wonder if they'll censor that?

What about Archaeopteryx for caldari? It is the the first ( or one of the first ) birds that ever existed 140 million years ago.

Hmm, how about calling the Gallente battleship the
'Seignus'
Its a slight twist on a french word for a lord (in some uses)
The Battlecruiser could be a
'Ruchees'
Same again but for 'hive' ________________ What you do is you store up the rage, let it fester while you gain strength, then use it to gank those weaker than you... and so the circle of life is complete |

Abbadon, Apotheosis and Annihilation are all excellent suggestions. Any would be good.
For the Caldari, Roc and Dragon should be reserved for capital ships. Snipe is cool but almost too appropriate. Though if went with venomous creatures (cf Scorpion) rather than birds, you could have Tarantula or Black Widow (imagine a BS with a Damnation paint-job!).
(But not Booby. Would be wasted on battleship (BBs) when they could be destroyers (DDs) or even frigates (FFs)... )
Minmatar, has to be Tornado. Just goes too well with Typhoon and Tempest, both for the meteorologists and for the aviation buffs!
Gallente... Forced to agree with the poster who said the prevailing principle is something Latiny that sounds impressive. So something like Ultrax, Extremus, Excelsis, Aphelion...

Minmatar
Tornado - NO as is suggests speed Malestrom - nice but "Malestrom Alliance" Hurricane - too close to cyclone and would be more fitting as a tier 1 name
TAKU Wind :A strong, gusty, east-northeast wind, occurring in the vicinity of Juneau, Alaska, between October and March. At the mouth of the Taku River, after which it is named, it sometimes attains hurricane force
TEHUANtepecer A violent squally wind from north or north-northeast the Gulf of Tehuantepec (south of southern Mexico) in winter. It originates in the Gulf of Mexico as a norther which crosses the isthmus and blows through the gap between the Mexican and Guatamalan mountains. It may be felt up to 100 miles out to sea
ZEPHYROS The ancient Greek name for the west wind, which generally light and beneficial. It has evolved into "zephyr" which denotes a soft gentle breeze
SQUALL - sounds whimpy but u wouldnt want to be near one
BOREAS An ancient Greek name for north wind
Tsunami - recent events exclude this

Minmatar. Tempest and Typhoon both have to do with strong winds. Tier 3 must be something windy therefore Also starting with a T would be nice. (just for the looks in the database) Tornado and Thunderstorm are the only ones I can think of actually...
I like T-storm ---

I quite like "Tsunami" for the Minmatar, though personally I hope they don't go with the same starting letter for the name so the next time we can all think a little more originally (I'm looking at you Amarr/Minmatar decider person). I was thinking about "Hrafnagaldr" aswell but it only fits with the capital naming scheme.
But then I think that the Armageddon should have been named Meggido so my opinion is probably a bit skewed.
Also, taken literally, Apocalypse and Revelation mean the same thing so that naming scheme can go out of the window too. But you do so insist on using the boring judeo-christian meanings so in line with that I'd take an Amarr "Rapture" any day.
Caldari and Gallente can sort themselves out.

Ok I didnt read most of this old thread except a few pages but I wish the minmatar ship could be a different name then others suggested.
Before I joined EVE in Beta I played Jumpgate for 2+ ys as a quantar pilot and every time I hear the minmatar ship names I dont think about eve ships but about Jumpgate Ships.
If you look at the green ships at the bottom of that linked page I'm starting to think the minmatars must have some long lost relations with the quants or at least in their ship naming abilities.
I prefered the ship naming line of most the minmatar ships when I joined in beta... stabber, rupture, slasher, wreathe, rifter and so on... more violating sounding names then strong breezes.

Edited by: Guillame Herschel on 21/07/2006 22:04:43 OK, here's a good T-word for the new Minmatar BS: Tumult
Twister might also be OK, it's better than Tornado anyway.
If you can let go of the T-thing, then Mistral or Chinook sound pretty cool, and refer to stormy or windy weather. Maybe Chinook is a good one for the BC, and Mistral or Tumult for the BS. (is there already a Chinook?)
I like the suggestions of Roc for the Caldari BS and Dragon or Wyvern for the BC. Those are both real good ideas.
Amarr "Abbadon" for the BS is another good one. I didn't see anyone suggest "Abyss" - what do you think of that? For the BC, how about "Thaumaturge" or "Magus"? Or even "Exorcist?"
I think I'm onto something giving the Gallente BS a named derived from the French word "ligotage." But it doesn't sound very menacing, alas. Not like Dominix.
Oh! How about Macerex from the French "macTrer" - "to grind." And it's nickname will become Maxi-wreck.

They should totally overpower one and name it the 'Uber ******* Pwnboat', so when you're on TS your cov ops guy would be like 'Ok warping to the gate now... oh **** they have 6 Uber ******* Pwnboats on the gate'.

Amarr: Abzu (sumerian for Abyss, sounds better imo also, armageddon and apocalypse = the same too... so in those lines we'd have to go to Ragnarok ;) )
Caldari: Dragon (Wyvern is already taken for the cald mothership i beleive)
Gallente: Patriarch (highest of the highest.. :) )
Minmatar: Thunderer (sounds better then all them, pardon my french, lame excuses for windyness... twister or tornado are just simply.... not good! imo ofc)

Here is some Noseart for you:
If Caldari gets a big ugly ship like most of our ships it should be "Dung Beetle"

everything except the Caldari one, Pegasus seems too graceful for something that looks like it'll smash through anything with large rails

Amarr -- will most likely be abaddon as ccp sent mmorpg.com pictures of it with the name abaddon on them.
Caldari -- Condor/Hyperion/Artemis/Oracle/Tethys/Orion
Ghaylente -- Balvarix/Altaion/Covran/Dargan/Octurion/Primus/Vorchan
Minimatar -- Kraken/Rongoth/Thentus/Lokita/Loki/
Names might not fit in to the current naming scheme but who said it there had to be a patern as long as the name sounds good thats all i care about
