Well, I won't pretend that this will change what CCP is going to call them in the end, but here are some ideas.
Amarr -- Well, if you want to stick with end-of-the-world imagery, you could pick Revelation (I don't think they have a ship named that already, do they?), Judgement, Doomsday, or Ragnarok (though that's not Christian theology, so I don't know if it really fits the theme).
Caldari -- I haven't seen any pictures, and the Caldari don't appear to have a consistent theme for their battleships, so I'm not sure what would be a good name, other than some sort of sinister animal associated with death. So you could go with the aforementioned Viper, or something like Widow, Recluse, or Black Cat.
Gallente -- The Gallente battleships don't appear to have any particular theme -- just weird, domineering sounding names. I don't really have any good ideas here, to be honest.
Minmatar -- I actually liked the Maelstrom idea, but you could also take Hurricane, Tornado (bonus -- it also starts with T!), or Whirlwind. I almost suggested Cyclone, and then I remembered that that's their battlecruiser (which I have two of, so I don't know why I forgot that). -- LCDR Svetlana Scarlet Deputy Quartermaster Captain, CNS Redball Express Caldari Independent Navy Reserve |

Something with 'T' for Minmatar would be nice, but please not 'Tornado'. Tornado reminds me of the european aircraft, the tactical bomber or what it is. It's rather small and if I think about flying a Tornado, I always have this RL picture of a 'little' starting Tornado in my head.

Caldari ships are (usually) named after birds, thus the Tier 3 battleship might follow the same route.
"Shrike" might be cool, but the name is derived from such a tiny bird, Viper would be a nice one though. ________________________________________________

Like the Overlord and Maelstrom suggestions, though something beginning with A would be nice for the third Amarr BS. Annihilation maybe?
That said, I was always pretty sure Maelstrom is pronounced mah-ehl-strohm. THen again I'm German and thus my sights might be skewed on that matter.

Amarr Tier 3 Battleship: Abbadon (this would make all 3 Amarr Battleships have apocalyptic names: Apocalypse, Armageddon, Abbadon)
Caldari Tier 3 Battleship: Is there a picture of it yet anywhere? The Raven kinda looks Raven-ish, the Scorpion definitely looks Scorpion-ish. Caldari names seem to be Birds of Prey or other Predator names. So, why not just call it the "Predator?" I'd have to see a picture, but how about:
Apex (ecology term referring to the top of the food chain.)
Gallente don't all use "mythological creatures," and then the Caldari would have stolen the Harpy from them if so I guess. And Cerberus. The other two Gallente Battleships seem to be made up latin-sounding words that imply overwhelming power (Dominix, Megathron.) So, some possible Gallente Tier 3 BS names (or, really, just good Gallente ship names for any future ships):
Impetus Conqueror Suppressor
Minmater Tier 3 -- I really like Maelstrom and can't come up with anything better.

Edited by: Wilfan Ret''nub on 17/04/2006 16:08:52 My two bits:
Amarr - Apotheosis Means "elevation to divine status". Keeps the "end of days" theme. Starts with an A like other two. Hard to pronounce, though.
Minmatar - Tornado Is a weather phenomena and as noted above starts with T like the other two. Is also more destructive than a typhoon or tempest. And to Plutonium: Typhoon is also an European fighter and a WWII British ground attack plane.
BTW: if Foxbat was good enough name for NATO (MiG-25 Foxbat to stick on the OMGWTFBBQ Soviet interceptor (which didn't turn out quite like they were expecting), it's good enough for Caldari.

LOL ya know every name we come up with, CCP won't be able to use because people would say it was named because they put it here...... Lets see If I can scratch a few names off the list....
Cladari- Has "Phenoix" (sp) been taken yet? or Albatross?
Gallente- "Atlas" since it flows in the Really Big sounding things catagory of Gallente Battleships
Ammar- I thought Overlord was pretty good. How about "Smite"? Hmmm no that stinks, "Retrabution" (sp again) Now thats a name!
Minmintar- "Duct Tape".... No, "Tundra" Mabey? not really sure of the Theme w/ Minmintar ships. W/ the force of nature, how about "Gail" (as in Gail force winds?)
Well those are the names I put forth to be striken from the list being written by CCP!
Can't wait to get the BPC for one though....

You're forgetting the fact that caldari ships are nothing like the OMGWTFBBQ Soviet interceptors, those are actually fast.
Unless of course the tier 3 caldari battleship is speedy ________________________________________________

Minmatar: Tornado (that euro bomber may be small, but its LOUD!)
Gallente: Myrmidon (greek warrior, sounds cool too)
Amarr: Plague (would work really well for a drone carrier)
Caldari: Raptor (missile spreading terminator of the skies) <<<< No Boundaries, No Fences, Fly Free Or Die Trying >>>>

Harpy is also the name of the largest type of eagle. It eats monkeys.

Meh, if it's a reference to male cats, then I don't like it, if it's a reference to the F-14 then I still don't like it.
Originally by: Jobie Thickburger Cladari- Has "Phenoix" (sp) been taken yet?
Yes, it's our Dreadnaught
Originally by: Jobie Thickburger or Albatross?
NO!
Originally by: schurem Caldari: Raptor (missile spreading terminator of the skies)
(A) The Caldari battleship will have 8 railguns. (B) Raptor has been one of the Caldari interceptors for a very, very long time. Wow, that was the worst suggestion in this whole thread.
I think the Caldari one should either be "Valkyrie" like Viktor said, or "Lynx". -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

Jeez people.
The Caldari BS is going to be big and nasty with railguns. It'll need a bird theme.
Haven't you people ever heard of a Roc?
Tornado gets my vote for the Minnies BTW, it'd complete the reference to an old competitor.
Apothesis would be awesome for the Amarr, and why do I have a feeling that the Gallente one will be "Victrix" or "Nike"? ---
