warm beer is gross, and no it dosn't taste like warm watered down urine.
end of story \\
1) British beer stronger than US beer 2) You compare larger to what would appear to be some diluted form of bitter or ale instead of another larger 3) You can chose temprature of your beer 4) I have never drank urine so I bow to your superior knowledge upon that subject 5) 99.9% of all Americans prefer foreign beers
As for story - very very funny as for fact, very very funny.

To further reinforce my point all of the following beers are better than any of that limp wristed muck that is turned out of American breweries..
Stella Artois Becks Kronenburg Hoegarden Heineken Carlsberg Staropramen Warsteiner Grolsh Guiness Caffrey's Duvel Peroni Urquell Nastro Azzuro Asahi Dry
etc... and that's just off the top of my head inside 30 seconds.
Damn I would rather drink San Miguel than anything brewed in the states.

What "beer" you talking about - Real Ale, lager, draught or bottle conditoned, or that fizzy, pasteurised semi-flavoured semi-alcoholic flavoured water you get in cans?
Cask-conditioned and dispensed Real ale is notoriously hard to transport and often does not travel well. That means, in my experience, to be sure you are getting a truly representative pint of the stuff, you ought to travel to the area its made not vice versa - you get the added pleasure of seeing what the part of the country it comes from, is like I hear there is some terrific real ale being made by the US micro-breweries now.
There is a big difference between "proper" bottle conditioned bitter (where it continues to ferment in the bottle) and some of the stuff you find in bottles in supermarkets, which just has the same name as a draught. With a few notable exceptions, if I want bottled beer I much prefer the classic "trappist" type beers, although as I live in the UK I do have to travel miles to get it (like, years ago, I had to travel miles to find a pub serving real ale). I like that quaint and charming Belgian idea you have a different kind of glass for each kind of beer.
And we Brits don't drink warm beer. Its just that there is no need to freeze quality beer to make it drinkable.

I suppose I should get to listing all the British Beers that don't have to be warm and made out of mud that clearly pwn any American beer in the face with extreme force but I can't be bothered and it would take me all day to remember them there are so many.
I will just settle for two UK masterpieces that make American beer look like a complete joke..

Edited by: Big Muthatrucker on 30/04/2006 12:59:03 I'm sorry but this should be considered blasphemy. The only beer I wouldn't rather drink over bud light is pabst. Bud light is crap. More and more small breweries are popping up all over in America get out and enjoy some, they have taste.
As far as sam adams goes...."voted worlds greatest beer" what world is that. I distinctly remember spending 1 year in Weisbaden (sp?) germany and drank a different beer every day and dont think I scratched 10% of them and not one was even close to being as repulsive as sam adams.
But if money is tight I buy MGD in the can...after the first 12 you stop carring about taste.
Been trying to brew my own the last 18 months. Have yet to make anything paletable yet but I'm getting better.
Regardless of what you drink we must all agree that beer is beautifull. Inappropriate content - Laqum |

American beer is all from the same vat, and it all tastes bland and samey tbh.
No-one drinks warm lager in the uk, its ale thats sometimes at room temp. And british ale > any american lager.

Yeah any of the big American beers are poor to say the least, the micro breweries do produce some better stuff, not on a par with the stuff that comes out of Europe, but its a start!
The one thing the did annoy me - was why in christ's sake did every bar put gas in beer. I mean Bass - its meant to be brown and flat, but oh no very place i visited decided they have to put gas in it and the same was true for places that served other ales and bitters! Not in the same amounts that go into a lager, but still gas
I do think Guinness escpaed this most terrible crime tho...
