Perhaps CCP knew this was coming and that's what the 20 million dollar asset write off was, seeing as they're Zuckerberg's B**** now.

Seriously though, Valkyrie still has a fighting chance if Facebook integration is optional, because if there's anything that makes me hate a product more than being bombarded with adverts for it, it's having to spam my friends with said adverts myself. no facebook integration at all. anywhere. then again, if facebook is written anywhere on the rift itself, i dont think anyone would be able to take it seriously enough to play on in the first place. Why buy a product if your not going to use it for your profit.

I no longer plan to purchase one.
I wouldn't really want my information being sold to whomever offers Zuckerburg the most cash for it. Especially now that it could scan my eyes (biometric data), my face, and who knows what else?
It's also sad to see Valkyrie basically die in the womb thanks to this. Not posting on my main, and loving it.-á Because free speech.-á

I don't have a Facebook account, so I don't have any personal experience aside from what I have read in the media.
Unfortunately for me though, what I've read in the media is enough to make me pause on buying the Oculus when it's released.
I'm not going to write it off and assume that the sky will fall in because the company is owned by Facebook, but I think I'll wait and see for a while. eve-bazaar - Discount prices on ships and PLEX. Real savings to drive your ISK further. |

I originally though that but soon worked out the real reason people got upset if I suspended or mentioned deleting is all their tagged pics uploaded to my account would disappear. |

This is the argument socialists have perpetuated for nearly a century. That the incentive of the business man is to ruin his business, not to grow and profit from it.

And closed a whole bunch of them, because a great deal of the potential customer base that Oculus Rift previous appealed to, absolutely despises Facebook in general, and Zuckerburg in particular.
Myself, as an example. I hate Facebook. I hate their dishonesty, I hate their utter determination to sell out as hard and as quickly as possible, and I hate the entire concept of putting your life in a fishbowl in exchange for fake internet points from other morons who put their own lives in fishbowls.
