Yes, that 800dps is very skewed. Better off fitting Barrage ammo or EMP. Barrage has no penalties (shhhh dont tell anyone!).

with t1 ammo / missiles and t2 hvy drones we are looking at 784 dps.
however dont forget the drawbacks, lack of tank (in the dual med repper variant), lack of speed (with the plates) and lack of solopwnmobilness against smaller targets and hacs (since we lack the nos and use only t1 missiles).
I dont see how 784 dps is much worse then what a tempest can field with a 6 gun 2 launcher + 3 hvy or 5 medium t2 drones (5 mediums actually do more dps i think) setup.
Tho somoene may crouch the numbers and surprise me there.

A tempest can jam (if fitted to), while doing almost as much dps as that phoon. Being about just as fast (with the plated setup). Having 2 Heavy NOS (a must to kill many a HAC).

well barrage or emp doesnt matter, they both do 44 raw dmg, so it wouldnt influence the dps.
barrage has as far as i know a malus to capacitor recharge and tracking if im not mistaken. tho they are neglectable.
missiles however have significant mali (sp?) while providing the same raw dmg in the t2 variant.

Barrage have no penalty. 50% falloff, no other changes.
By 'malus' you mean 'minus'. Mali is not a word. Neither is Boni. I only mentioned that as you did (sp?) it :)

you can, the new bonus brings roughly 70 dps all whine or moaning aside. So i guess the typhoon will stay the same as it is now and if it actually is alot better and gets alot of love, yay for the typhoon. it deserves a moment in the spotlight anyways.

Umm...the variant I posted doesn't have those drawbacks. It can't use nos, but 4 launchers with javelin torpedos (just keep some in the cargo hold and switch to them as needed) combined with 5 heavy drones will do a number on a HAC, regardless of nos (not to mention what the dual 425 II's can do to a webbed cruiser). It also has enough dronebay space to carry a rack of light or medium drones, as well, to deal with frigs.
Reposted, since a lot of people seem to have missed it:
4 dual 425 II 4 siege II
1 100MN AB II 1 faint 20km scrambler 1 fleeting web 1 heavy electrochemical cap injector
2 large armor rep II (might need accoms - can't get onto SiSi to check which I had fitted) 3 n-type hardeners 1 RCU II 1 PDU II -Wrayeth

Originally by: Richard Secundus Yeah that setup is very limited in its usefullness. Try putting 4 Dual 650mm IIs and 4 cruise IIs. Then maybe you can fit a few damage mods and a light tank. Still very limited use in pvp. It just doesn't have the PG to fit all that and a good tank.
I don't see where you're coming from, I'm a newb and I can fit 4x dual 650s + 4x Siege + LAR tank with 4x hardeners. ----

Isn't it great to show the possible grandeur of one of the (historically) oldest and the most expensive Tier1 BS with full fitting, gunnery, missile and drone skills? Who has all of them maxxed? Who is even close to them?
Hail + mobile target = dead/useless Phoon. Barrage L has a 50% falloff malus. I'd call it a replacement for EMP L agaisnt Minmatar, Caldari and Gallente type targets.
(More than one malus is malus. More than one bonus is boni. Latin ftw!) --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

Edited by: Rexy on 05/05/2006 06:58:55 heu it's great, untill you start cramming in 3x different loadouts of missiles, and ammo, and then top it off with a few cap boosters. also including drone damage isnt fair, plenty of ships out there capeable of fielding 5 heavy drones also. so at 550 dps with maxed missile/gun skills i'd say it could do with 7,5% bonus/lvl do make it actually competative
since we're posting setups anyway
4xsiege t2, 4x dual 650's. 100mn t2 AB, web,scram,heavy electrochemical. large+medt2 repper,3xt2hardners+adaptive or t1/named with energised. +RCUII to fit it all.

Except it's not happening any time soon apparently.
Originally by: Tuxford Got some bad news. We can't update any effects. That means that we can't update the new Hawk and Typhoon bonuses. Also limiting the drone control unit to motherships and carriers isn't possible either. The simple attribute changes like the ones on turrets and missiles are good to go though.

Edited by: Faer Ceado on 05/05/2006 14:17:46 Doesn't Barrage Ammo give a 50% bonus to falloff??
At least with my small AC II's, it increased my falloff from 4400 meters to 6600 meters.

I gotta side with testy here, you guys are omitting a few points.
The first is fitting. Yes it can fit 4 425s and 4 seige. And then your 'uber' tank consists of 2 med reps and some plates. Wow, i'm drooling already.
Lets look at the typhoon's benifits too shall we? It's fast. Oh goody, i'll just load 4 acs with hail and 4 launchers with t2 torps. Hmm, i'm not moving any more...
Not only this, you forget that the typhoon is having to use up all 8 of its high slots to get this omgwtf damage (my sleipnir can reach 800dps, a gank bs should be somewhere between 1200 and 1500), thus leaving no room for the nos that is pretty essential on close range setups.
In summary, the phoon is going to get ripped apart by any close range bs. Ah well. At least i can justify fitting 4 launchers 4 nos to it now.

I armor tank all the time, don't dismiss me as a noob... And exactly why would i need a cap injector with 2 med reps running? They don't really destroy my cap, and the grid can go somewhere more useful. If you're going to make it that crap a tank might as well stick 4 plates and 3 hardners on it and have a mate with some remote rep drones about.
You appear to have adressed a very small part of my post while quoting the whole thing, in an attempt to dismiss it. Try again...

Thankyou...
Although don't forget plates no longer affect max speed, only agility and speedboosts. However the t2 ammo penalty across 8! turrets will happily reduce it to effectively 0 m/s, very useful when half your high slots have an optimal range of 3 ks...

Geez, Why isn't noone considering fitting Cruise launcher II on this upcoming 'popular' typhoon. The little underdog that noone dares to use is suddenly becoming the 'OMGWTFUBER' ship?
Shesh... I'm not going to be training torpedo 5 for this ship, and i hope i won't see idiots flying a typhoon in ganka mode with hail + javelin torps + 3BCU + 3 gyro, because... It would be so sad to pop such a GREAT looking ship...
Don't know why everyone is going whining about this. Minmatar getting a tier 1 that can gank, oh geez. It cost more in training to be as effective as most ships in the game to be able to gank properly... (well apart from the blasterthron which sucks balls).
I for one never bothered to train torpedo 5 to use the naglfar, or for any minmatar ships. Why use it? Why train it? If i wanted to use missile, i'd just use a raven, which i'd be doing if i ever trained torp 5.
Don't care about math, I'll still be using my typhoon as a big nos whoring machine. Just the highslot might be different.
