The phoon wins, hand down. Well, the stupidly overpowred ECM might save the dominix (chance based).

The Domi wins 9/10 times.

When you post your setups why do you not include implant supports? Have you considered adding a non-standard weapon setup with the phoon? What is the best way to setup up your low slots to tank against gate campers?
Thankyou Brechan Skene

Define 'win'.
If it was a 'non-ECM' fight the phoon would win 10/10 times. In a real fight with the stupidly overpowered ECM, a phoon would easily get out of scrambling range and warp away due to the higher base speed. If the domi would 'sacrifice' one med to keep the phoon in range, then we're equal on EW and the phoon would once again win.

Edited by: Ninjja on 06/05/2006 01:00:10 I personally love the phoon. Ive flown both Minnie BSes and i prefer the phoon, mainly because of the range and drones. Granted, the range is gunna take a sidestep to the upcoming missile bonuses. Unfortunately, with this particular setup, you would have a hard time hitting much of anything smaller than a battlecruiser. Ogres and Seige missiles wont help much agains a good cruiser pilot.
However, i have always beleived that, like the Scorpion is to the Caldari, the Typhoon is best as a support ship. It has a massive versatility and capability to really turn the tables on any multi ship engagement. Yes, i do use it for pvp sometimes too. Pertsonally i find that a TP, t2 Valkyries, and heavy missiles with a just about any guns will make the phoon a definate bear to take down.

Well yeah. LOL. I always stock 5 heavies and 5 t2 mediums. The heavies are much more expendable in price. But i dont use more than one or two ogres unless im fighting only big ships. Berserkers 4tw.

Maybe, the problem is that a 5% rate of fire bonus, while nice, can't transform a "pathetic pile of crap" into an uber pwnmobile. (at level 5, that bonus contributes less than the 10% of the total damage output)
So, either the ship wasn't as crap as seemingly everyone says it to be, or it won't pwn as much as all the hype around could lead you to believe. ---------------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

The answer is that the phoon is already a good ship for 1vs1.

This is a quality troll post. Grats.
If people have the skills for t2 siege, t2 heavy drones, minnie BS V and t2 large autocannons then they deserve to cause some pain.

Edited by: Kashre on 06/05/2006 20:21:20 The phoon is already a decently useable ship. This is just a little icing, and really it isnt comesurate with other ships bonuses if it's only getting 5% on the missiles anyways.
Not that Im complaining. With the current phoon I have beat apocs, geddeons, tempests, domis, HACs and frigate swarms. Course, Ive been slaughtered by geddeons, tempests megathrons, domis and frigate swarms in a phoon too...
I have been in a couple of situations in a phoon where 5% missile ROF would have *maybe* let me live when I otherwise ended up in a pod... but not many. So TBH I dont see that this is changing things all that much. +++
It's called "low security space" for a reason. |
