Just something random I was thinking of. I'm sure many remember how awesome and expansive the universe seemed the first time you fly near a planet. Then you clip right through one and the immersion breaks. But you eventually accept it and move on.
I'm against the idea of course redirects around planets. However, I'm reminded of a quote from Cowboy Bebop: "Objects in hyperspace can still be seen by the naked eye. Of course, they can never interact with anything on this plane of reality."
A small visual cue or animation of this phenomenon would be many times better than just clipping through it. |

I agree, perhaps the 3D scene should be completely black when inside a planet. |

this. I actually do. Didn't make it past my 3rd day playing before I up and got the urge to MWD for 20min into a planet. The resulting "wtf?.. aaww. lame" spontaneously caused me to rage for several days. |

eithery they need to make the warp tunnel to the point it makes it hard to see stuff outside of it,
or they turn all planets and moons into warp bubbles.

Just add sparkly, shiny effects when we're warping through a planet. If the game admits what is happening, a player will know there's an explanation. |

Pretty much this. It doesn't have to be explained, just acknowledged. |

I asked months ago on the old forums for CCP to relocate planets and moons on grid. Basically it's a low priority.
The planets and moons were dropped there when the systems were created, years and years ago... the dev had short insight into the future when placing random planets directly in common warp aligns. this was simply kind of lazy and slutty development.
They should have fixed it during Dominion, before Tyrannis rolled Custom Offices out; now CCP just added more time-consuming fixes.
I'm kind of a perfectionist so it bothers me even after playing EVE for years. its a common fixable bug and disregarded. |

I don't think it's perfectionism to expect that we don't blast through planets and see the inner edges of the model as we do. It looks tacky, unfinished, and unprofessional. I had that feeling the first time it happened to me on Eve and that hasn't changed since. Same with plowing through stations on warp. There are some smart people at CCP who I am pretty sure can write a bit of code to create a curve. |

You do realize that your brain doesn`t have the ability to perceive that kind of information (a black image when passing through a planet - also other objects moving with a relative speed greater than your ship) Think about when you are in a train, and another one passes in the opposing direction; how many faces can you recognize? Think now if you are traveling with enormous speeds. The angular speed is great when obj are closer, and small when they are far - as the sun.
This is the same thing as the 25 frame movie, your retina sense it, but your brain doesn`t receive it.
Also passing through matter is perfectly plausible. You have atm passing through you and Earth, thousands of particles with 0 electronic charge, thus not affecting you at all, and they aren`t obstructed or diverted (maybe except by the gravitational field) at all.
Thinking that when you reach warp speed, your mass drops near 0 and assuming that you are able to drop your electronic charge also, you are able to pass through planets, stars etc.

I don't see through the edges of their polygons when they pass through me so I don't care. |

Fine, but you're still in the middle of a planet, looking at ugly outlines for a couple of seconds (because you're always accelerating or decelerating when you pass through a celestial - never at full warp). Something, anything to make it look like you're passing through a solid, massive object, not a gigantic balloon of one way glass.
As for curving warp paths, that would be awesome. However, since NPCs don't even have the AI complexity to manoeuvre around asteroids, what hope have we of our ships computing warp paths around celestials? Even if it were possible, it would probably mess up your ability to align before warping. |

And you may give me a thumbs up now, cause your insomnia related to unanswered q " passing through planets is gone" .
And this without medication. Marvelous..

Well, as I said it before, physics, the structure of planets, mater, everything is there, but your brain perceives it like some residual frame in your peripheral field of vision. You have passed through the planet when you actually sense that in your brain as a visual, which combines with the current frame that is open space. There are tons of visual effects on the web, called visual illusions. Search it and you will be blown of how your eyes and brain work.

Think about, at the speed of 360 000km/h (100m/s - the speed of a bs) you would need a force = mass (of a BS) x acceleration (from 0 to 100m/s) at 90 degrees (a engine on the left or right side of the ship) to change you on a trajectory at 45 degrees. That is enormous. In non warp you are able to do that by increasing or decreasing the power of one of the rear engines. In warp, all the power in the rear engines capt. Try to unbalance that and you may hit a tree or smth.. No trees in space? How come. I want trees in space. Please CCP introduce trees in space. Who joins me in my dream for love and trees??

You math is off by a thousand. 100m/s is just 360km/h, not far from the top speed of a F1 car. |

This is the same thing as the 25 frame movie, your retina sense it, but your brain doesn`t receive it.
If I were you, I wouldn't be using pseudo-science to try and rationalise away an essentially 'emotional' issue - the two rarely mix well...
And as for your theory that the brain doesn't receive signals at speeds in excess of 25htz (or fps) - did you really think that through before you typed it?
Anyway, Winter is coming... So no thumbs up from me... |

I stand corrected, I was going to write m.
As for the frame/s part, I went there for a common knowledge example (see Refractory period on neurons).
