Maybe it's just me, but if you are zoomed in close enough to see your ship, you are playing the game wrong.
Why would I even buy a skin? It ain't going to change my little red icon to blue (actually I'd definitely pay real money for that).

Alot of people enjoy customizing the look of what basically represents them in a videogame, for alot of people it adds a whole new dimension to the game and can actually be a deal maker or breaker for new players. It gives people something to work towards and to individualise themselves.

There's no direct evidence to indicate that sales aren't already good. This could very well be a planned part of the data collection looking at different pricing points within the trial period.
We don't really have any data to know whether early sales have met, exceeded or under performed against CCPs expectations.
Secondly, my new gank/awox/wardec alt wouldn't particularly care if the blueprints dropped or not. As long as the ship dies, so can the skin. Its not like that character would ever bother skinning a ship that will never be flown. At best it would be sold on the market, but more than likely would just be trashed.

I too think that a few paint jobs to select from for each ship is too weak to count - and the selection of ships for the pilot project is way too weak, I seriously hope CCP is looking into how many (few) players even fly ships of those types when checking how popular it is.
In my opinion the player need to be able to select the colour combinations, 2 -3 looks for each ship just isn't making a real difference.
Having the option for selecting different paint patterns (camouflage, speed stripes etc) as well would be great - and remove the only disadvantage I see being able to choose your own colours has vs complete paint jobs, which is that the pattern on the ship would stay the same when just choosing colour, but with a total paint job the artist is completely free in their choices. |

Not buying any, they aren't the skins I'm looking for.
Content to wait for a real ingame util that allows the pilot to do custom skins.

I recall that the plan, if this test was successful, was for skins to be dropped in via the fitting window...
My youngest watches me roam on my PvP alt. she has requested MY Little Pony skins.
Personally, I think they should add some solid colors to the test. Several here have asked for black, white, ect. Blood red would also look good. I think that would provide a better test result. I have a feeling there are lots of people who would buy skins, just don't care for THESE test skins. (like myself) |

A) All ships could be re-skinned
B) You had cool skins (hello kitty, Nuka-cola, etc etc etc)
