are you stupid? this has nothing to do with that! The amount of polys someone can show depends on their system, not how many people are in the grid....

Is gallente tier 3 bs design still looking like a buttplug? I mean, geez, yeah so gallente ship design is supposed to be organic, but looks like somebody has a fixation for certain organs.

one reason is thot MMOGs take much longer to develop. If you're writing an FPS, you go buy an engine from id or the unreal guys and figure that whatever hardware is 'top end' right now will be mainstream by the time you're done. Most MMOs are written with custom engines, and the hardware that is mainstream when they are launched was still on the drawing board when they entered development. Compare the system reqs of Wow or EQ2 with those of Oblivion. When they first announced the probable reqs for EQ2, they were astronomically high - now, almost all of us could run it. Plus consider that most MMOs don't really hit their stride until after a year or so.
This is why the first screens from next-gen MMOs like vanguard look so much better than current MMOs - sigil is probably getting those screens from top end computers at fairly low FPS.
Of course, that's dated because I haven't really looked at vanguard since about a year ago.
The exception to all that is Guild Wars, which spent a long time in development and yet looks like delicious.
