'Eve Never Fades' made me join this great game...

Originally by: fuze The audio engineer who mixed it should be publicly flogged and then sacked from his job. Listening on high-end speakers in my professional mastering studio it clearly showed a total screwup of the sound. Actually I can get really angry at collegues like this when they are trying to give our craft a bad reputation.
You've obviously never heard any D&B.... The distortion is meant to be.
Expand your musical reperoire before complaining about it :P
Try and find some edIT for easy listening - that's rpetty much the pinnacle of distortion music, be it not D&B.

The fleetness of this really reminds me of the original "Homeworld." Anyone else?

And people wonder why the quality of new players is degenerating at an apocalyptic pace? What else can you expect with promotional material like this?
Standard industry fare.
Part 1: Have an elf babble mindless drivel. Truely, utterly mindless drivel. People like that. It makes them feel smart for listening. And people hate orcs. Well, most people do. Elves ftw.
Part 2: Go ZOOOOOOM to suggest VROOOOOOM. Makes look everything fast. Even those battleships. Ah, the energy. The speed. Mind-blowing. (Got to use that trick in game...)
Part 3: Go BOOOOOOM. fr4gf357!!! Preferably with a lot of really really trashy music. "Distortion music"? Yeah, we call it noise.

I thought it was pretty sweet. Nice footage in there. I still can't help but feel that Minmatars are still not getting the love in regards to ships. Then again the fleet of Cyclones brought a tear of pride to my eye...

Hell no, I've got super super super high-end custom made hand crafted speakers. Prolly worth a nice car. But the music is just way too bad. Besides D&B isn't supposed to distort and clip this badly. Pherhaps hardcore is but there are still plenty ways to avoid sonic mayhem and destruction. |

Edited by: Aion Amarra on 11/05/2006 06:20:12 I don't get what the fuss with the sound is about. I know that not everyone likes that kind of music, but I didn't notice any problems with it.
Dunno if it's just my headset. Using one of em Speed-Link Medusa 5.1 headsets.
---
That said, I liked it.
Even though the introduction was too long, the vid was too short, and some of the scenes didn't seem that purposeful. The bunch of cyclones (or was that a set of Command ships? They did seem to use Absolutions instead of Prophs) looked pretty nice, but the other BC scenes were a bit meh.
As for the sense of scale, I think it was conveyed pretty well. In the Moros scene, there's another 2 thoraxes flying behind the Moros, and the aft shot of the Minmatar... mothership? has three small ships next to it as well.
That said, the camerawork on the Erebus shot was a bit meh, the camera suddenly surges forward quite a bit, breaking the flow of the scene.
Also, that Scorpion looks mirrored to me as well, wth? ________ Capship Overhaul |

Not as atmospheric and goosepimply as the EVENeverFades one, but still an awesome job.
The superweapon and Titan shots look cool on camera.

How much of that is CG? ( hoping the answer is none and that is footage of the upgraded trinity engine...............
Also near the end is what looks like a frigate that kinda rocked back and forth a bit any idea what ship that was :)?

You would think they could take a hint from their own videos.
Similar ships flying together is a good thing. It is cool. It looks awesome. Add some incentive for people to fly like that instead of giant stupid groups of ships that dont look to be organized thought out or planned whatsoever.
I am not saying make it hard for people who have specialized in certain ships to fly together...just add incentives for people to fly racial ships together, or something of that sort. Give bonuses, perhaps small ones, but bonuses. Eve will never look like this or have this feeling unless something is done in this respect.
And to make videos that look like this is pretty much just a lie. Because this is not how the game works.

As far as i can tell the only CG i spotted was the close up of the merlin (or other ship of that model) that foated towards the camera and away again. Hands down that was a great video, sound suited the insane action, but showing 99% of eve in the last 2 seconds was a bit off

I didn't like it because it wasn't much like the game. Ships don't move that fast, nearly impposible to get turns like that and such. _____________________________________

When you are in game hold right click and move the camera around. And then while still holding right click, hold left click and zoom in and out.

Mind-bogglingly fast paced awesome video of uberness! Makes me really, really appreciate my twin 14 inch subs, I had about a dozen DVD's falling of the shelf the second time I ran that, and I broke my coffee mug
Excellent camera work, pity the video ended so soon. Loved the fleet of Sleipnir's (Cyclone's have reddish orange lights, not green), but why didn't they have any guns fitted?
Also, I want access to the dev server that they test the Abaddon on

I don't think I could pick a favorite between Never Fades and No Other Destiny. They were both awesome videos. I guess the only grip I have about No Other Destiny was that it was too short.
I don't know what you guys are talking about with the sound, the bass sounded great, rattled the walls, and made the lady next door pound on the wall because she was trying to sleep.

Originally by: DigitalCommunist Okay watched it a few times, time for some constructive criticism. First off, give us the damn camera scripting already! Second, I prefer female voices over heavy smoker male voices. When I first heard it, it reminded me of the warcraft III trailer. It doesn't work here because nothing in the trailer was what i'd consider "epic". Another point, as someone who plays the game, it was kind of difficult to see what ships were being used.. could be because of the obscure camera angles but I think there was too little contrast with the background. Having a squad of ravens and cyclones mwding around = nonsensical.
Choice of "widescreen" format = win. Keep doing it. Choice of music was okay, I didn't mind it because the video was timed so well. But "beaty never fades" for example is something I would listen to even without the visuals, but not this track.
Major beef:
If you're going to show 40-50km long ships like the Titans, can you please for the love of god put a LOT of smaller ships next to them to show off the scale. Anyone looking at this in E3 would never guess that one of those is roughly ten times bigger than Babylon 5 :|
Also, visually, the doomsday and cynosural effects were probably the best part of the trailer.
What Digi said. Kind of ruined by daft angles. The Titans should have had all the ships from there race. ie Caldari should of had 20 Frigs orbiting and being escourted by MOA's/BBs/Caracals and the BS's
Would of made a bigger impression and shown the scale of the Titans -----------------------------------------------

Added to that it's all ingame footage and it looks so cinematic!

It's a bit short imo (2.5mins?) for an e3 trailer.. i mean come on this is E3 it's once a year. I also agree with some more of the posts.. it didn't really seem that epic. I loved the music though and it had it's good points.. 7.5/10 from me. =========================

Bleh pretty sure I figured out almost the ENTIRE movie was CG, save the very last little end part where they flash through a few in-game scenes. The reason? Well no icons, specially when some small ships were in the distance no little + on them you could actually see the ship. I really hope they would ajust ingame scaling like that so youy would see ships more often instead of always icons :)
