Like so many videos people produce this one was no different. NO STORY. FFS have we lost the art of story telling. The only people that would find this video remotly interesting are the eve player subscribers.

Originally by: Nanobotter Mk2 Bleh pretty sure I figured out almost the ENTIRE movie was CG, save the very last little end part where they flash through a few in-game scenes. The reason? Well no icons, specially when some small ships were in the distance no little + on them you could actually see the ship. I really hope they would ajust ingame scaling like that so youy would see ships more often instead of always icons :)
umm ctrl-tab hides the whole UI and lets you do movie mode. Plus in overview settings you can remove the icons from ships also. ----- Geotech is recruiting! |

Favourite part was the 'handcam' shot of the Hawks.. that was sweet
Really disliked the cyclones though... what kind of fleet is that? Just looked a bit stupid imo

I've never seen ships fly like that. I think they were just showing off the new graphics engine. Unless they're planning on introducing some form of advanced space flight, including those twists and turns.

I think we all know that 'fancy' camera work was involved. However the it doesn't matter to me. The overall feel of the vid sent shivers down my spine. Particularly catching sight of the new Amarr BS - WOW!

It's a good vid, but I liked EVE Never Fades more, partially because of the better music too
Still, gotta love those Brutix & Cyclone fleets in this one

Edited by: Crae Matreki on 12/05/2006 09:29:07 great vid. thought the spoken word stuff was a bit naff, but then the music kicked in and i almost fell out of my chair! Love the Minmatar fighter drones (don't ask me to spell their name!). I've never had the chance to see them in-game, and they look just as great as I imagined..
The track's Arrakis by Black Sun Empire, in case anyone cares. Did they intentionally choose the music based on its SF reference overload?

Originally by: Princess Aspire and is that a windows vista version scorp ?
Nah.
It's the updated scorp and executioner ship models they show. With some fancy DX9 stuff on top. Look at it. The only things that changed appear to be the fancier ship models. Everything else looks as before.
Same for all the screens here.
Pretty much the non-vista graphics update we're gonna get.
Technically, are there even working directx10 graphics cards yet? I didn't hear of any. If there aren't any, there currently can not be any real Vista footage. Since you obviously can't render it.
I'd also think that the Vista Engine likely isn't even near a presentable state right now? ________ Capship Overhaul |

I didn'lt care much for it. Half of it was some clown in a fakish Japanese accent (promoting the new bloodlines and going for the korean market I guess) waffling about some philosophy or other, then you yet to the action ( ravens flying like frigates??) and then theres a 10 second fadeout at the end. People are raving about 40% tops of the video. Sorry, not good enough for me. and as for the graphics, you could download some of the Homeworld 2 Point Defense systems' mod movies that could look more inpressive. Fancy effects will not pull in the punters anymore. You needed to show the good stuff in eve, and basicly saying "HEY, WE HAVE TITANS YOU CAN FLY(maybe a year and a half after subscribing...)!!!!" will not cut it.
Stick up 'Eve never Fades' and you will get more interest. That shows some real gameplay at least.

"I want ravens that fly just as fast".
Besides, their perfect formation has them look even cooler... and faster!

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 12/05/2006 12:30:45 Cool video, hope they release a game where the ships actually fly like that some time. (But that's the same with all game trailers)
The bits with the titans were obviously a homage to TheKiller8's 'you know you want it'.
Edit: For those of you concerned that the video was CG, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that this film was neither hand-animated nor shot in RL. Semantics FTW. ---------- Sorry but that link contains nawty language. -wystler "Discussing moderation is not allowed" - Ivan K "Ranting is prohibited" - Teblin

I didnĘt like this vid at all, first off, why use a crappy dnb track when there is so much nice atmospheric progressive house out there?
There was nothing epic about it at all, no sense of a storyline. False marketing, the ships donĘt fly in formations in eve, thatĘs more or less impossible, even though I think it would attract new players that think it would look cool (which it certainly does). There was no way of understanding the size of the ships or what they are used for. Overall I think they should start doing vids that really do show the game, the player driven economics and all other stuff that makes this game unique, not just big booms and flashy cynofields.

Um...actually, we can already do that. Check the "advanced camera menu" box in your options menu. Try "set as interest" from the right-click menu on a ship in space or in the overview. As the angle and velocity between you and your point of interest changes, the perspective of the camera will, too. -Wrayeth
