Edited by: Kollgorholl on 18/05/2006 18:14:48 I personally would not go with blasters, if you're locking down someones locking range it would be best to keep a bit of distance from them once you have them dampened and webbed.
Also i would ditch the cloak and the armor tank stuff, Dampeners aren't chance based like ECM, with good combat tactics you shouldn't need the tank, and in a fleet battle it won't help you anyway, nor will the cloak if you're locked. try 2 WCS (more useful than the cloak for surviving in a fleet battle or if you're against multiple targets) and 1 repper in lows, or 1 repper a mag field stab II and a BCU II (in both cases the repper is just in case you're taking damage and need extra time to align if you need to escape). And 3 missile launchers and 3 medium rails in highs.
As a final point don't forget the drones. 4 medium damage or EW drones can be very useful, if your damage output is already high enough try 4 medium webber drones, coupled with your ships webber you could keep a target slowed down even if they're more than 10km away and it can also be useful for keeping faster targets with blasters and mwd out of the 1 or 2 km they'd need to be in to lock you. Although you've got an AB you could be webbed as well, so anything to keep them at distance helps. Inside my mind.

No, but i fly a Celestis. that's the only thing i can draw experience from on this topic. but i stand by my point of not fitting blasters withs sensor dampeners. I also don't see the use of the armor tank, particularly in a fleet battle in which case you'll be targetted pretty swiftly if you're locking down enemy snipers.
In terms of my critique of the cloak i also stand by that, i can't see how it would be that effective, if you want to cloak a recon then why not go with the Arazu that gets a bonus to the mod.
Whilst i have thus far only flown the tech I version of this ship (i'm staying out of my Lachesis till i have Signal Suppression to level 5 in a few days) I think i justified each of my points, if you want to argue any specific one i think it would be more polite of you to mention it rather than to just laugh at me... Inside my mind.

well i bought 3 for 55 mil each and i allready have a arazu, but arazu sucks iskwise, 45!! freacking mill for a covert ops cloack Here i am whining about hacs while this baby costs the same if you do ship+cloack
@koll
you do realise that there is no neutronblaster on the fleet setup and that the neutron blaster has 10 k range optimal+falloff..Also placing a magnetic field stab @ a ship thats intended as ew fleet support and not dmgoutput gets you killed very fast.
First off all i dont believe in the power of stabs, if some inty tackles me ill ram 5X damp on his ass and warp out... I will also be checking what is locking me and if i see a bit to much bs trying to get a lock i dont warp out, i damp the targets that allready had a lock and than ill cloack.
i stay cloacked for lets say 30 sec, the enemy fleet forgets about me and i decloack and start doing my damp stuff again.
i also REFUSE to fit jammers on a ship with a dampbonus...
I hear a lot of talking but not much other setups? is my setup that good _________________________________________________

Ok, Id say stick a NOS in the somewhere. if your going to do that then if you have good skills you could swap to a 7.5km scan. There is nothing funnier than having someone think your easy pickings then finding themselves nosed, webbed, scrambled, and unable to target you. Eventually anythings tank will go down and as long as they don't have drones or mates nearby you could take on most things and come out tops.

5-7-3 slot layout, not bad for a gallente ship For solo work or small gang combat
Highs - 3x 250 II's 2x Heavy launchers (gallente tend to have better gunnery skills, so if you have more in missiles do it the other way around)
Mids - 1x 10mn ab (not sure if a mwd would fit, but if it would I'd say stick one on to keep that oh so important range) 2x 20 km scrams(take one off for a cap injector if you feel lucky and if pg allows), 2x sensor damps 2x multispecs
Lows 1x med(or small if pg is tight) rep 1x damage control (love the extra res to all 3 layers). 1x explosive hardner give you around 70 res in all armor
Drones: 1 x heavy webber (awesome for this setup) and 3x tracking disrupt drones or 3x warrior II's
Strategy, would be prefered to have a tackler, but without you will have to do Keep targets at your optimal range (should be around 25-30 depending on recon skill) and fire away keeping damps down the entire time. cycle the multispecs at 10 second intervals. A mwd would really help, but again not sure if it would fit. range is essential with this setup having no ability to sustain cap.
I look at this thing as a falcon but with actual Dps
(Did a rough guesstimation with pg/cpu but if anything doesnt fit, fit a cpu/rcu as needed

Fleet setup:
Hi: whatever Med: 6 Phased muon damps, sensor booster II Low: MAR II, explosive hardner II, 1600mm tungsten plate
Just as good as a scorp in long range fleet battles. For small scale fights I'd prefer an azaru.

I don't really fly the Lachesis much prefer my Arazu but heres my setup.
High: 3x 200mm Railgun IIs 2x Heavy Arbalest launchers
Med: 10mn AB II Warp scrambler 4x Sensor dampeners IIs Cap recharger II
Low: MAR II Exp hardener II CPR
This setup for wells for me atm. I used to run a sensor booster but I find this ship to have a slight problem with cap when running most of this setup.

3xArbalest Heavy 2xDimishing NOS
1xAfterburner II 1xWebber 1x7.5km Scrambler 4xPhased Muon Damps
1xMAR II 2xBCS II
Medium T2 Drones
This ship has cap problems unless you have 5/5 skills and even then it's tight to sustain cap in long duals, hence the NOS. Any single ship not fitted with multiple sensor boosters it will own although against other recons you need to refit with 20km scramblers and rails as you will still be in their target range with the above.
Fleet setup (normally beyond my heavy missiles) i go for 250mm rails (Spike) and assault launchers, no scramblers, 1 afterburner and 6 phased muons. Bottom line don't fly the laechesis solo IMO, unless you know what you are up against.

Dont put reps on lachesis. You can barely support 3-4 dameners even with best skills. Go for plate + resistance in low. One 20% cap recharge is a must and even then your cap will suck in battles longer then 1 minute.
Viable tactics is to dampen and try to stay at range (18km +) as using 4x dampeners on bs with 2x sb t2 will reduce good pilot to about 16-18km.
Test your fits.

Hell yeh, i tested this thing and when running all my EW stuff i use around 200% of my max recharge, 12 recharge vs 24 capusage/s i thought.
Im gonna mess around with lachesis a bit more, passive stuff sound good though. That injector with 200 charges should be pretty evil aswell. Just keep on boosting with full hold of 200 and you can keep going for a looooong time.

For larger engagements:
3x 250mm II, 2x assualt launchers
1x sensor booster II, 6x sensor damp II
800mm plate, explosive hardener, mag stab/cpr/small rep.
Lets face it, sometimes you get knocked around a little, its nice to have a little tank to keep you in the fight. I havent really found a fitting I like for skmirishes yet.

Edited by: Troubadour on 28/06/2006 04:41:37 I've used the lachesis as a sniper support ship with incredible success. 7 mids and a bonus to damping with the large grid for rails with spike makes this ship very good at it. example setup is as follows:
3x 250mm rails II w/ Spike M 2x standard missle launchers
5x Dampers 1x sensor booster II 1x tracking computer II
2x WCS 1x CPR
use this setup alongside heavier sniper ships and you can take much larger numbers on from relative comfort at 80-140km. Just damp the EW or ranged ships of the enemy. At range also you don't need to stack on 4 damps to a target to disable it as that first damp will have maximum effect, killing 50%+ of the target's lock range. A Lach can usually take 3-4 ships out of the fight, putting 1 or 2 damps on each. With the mediumd guns it also works pretty well to hit the smaller targets that the bigger snipers can't hit like frigs and cruiser, although the damage isn't that great. It's a very effective role for the Lachesis.

I'll test this setup later this evening :
H : 2x 250mm Railgun II, 3x Heavy Missile (named, will see what fits) M : 1x AB II, 5x Damp, 1x Sensor Booster II L : 1x BCU, 1x WCS, 1x Med Rep II
Drones : T2 damage drones, light and medium.
I will confirm this later if it fits
/tested on Quickfit and it goes perfectly

I fit up a Lachesis with 200mm Railguns, AB, Sensor Booster, 2x RSDII, 3xWarp Disruptor, light armor tank. It felt much more like a support ship than anything else, and had issues sustaining all the EWar for prolonged (45s) engagements. Use it to scramble or dampen, but have someone else kill the target. *Not* a solo PvP ship. ----------------------------------
Industrialist. I build it. You buy it. You break it and buy another one. Market domination through ingue ferrogue. (I did this and could have stopped it.) |

I use mine as a pure support ship in small gangs.
High: 3x heavy missile launhcer 2x 250mm rails
Med: 1x sensor booster II 3x Phased Muon damps 3x Warp Disruptors
Low: 3x WCS (Yes, WCS. Using anything else on a ship that is basically a glorified 60 million isk tackler is silly. Your DPS will suck anyway, your cap can keep the EW going, and I'd rather warp out than tank something like the Lach).

In my experiance, everyone ignores the Lachesis. At least until all the Scorpions and Rooks have been popped, lots of people just don't realise how good an EWAR platform they are until they have fought them a few times :P
I usually base my setup around the med and low slots, weaponry is mearly an afterthought when I fit it. Usually I go for an MWD, 20km Disrupter, 4x Sensor Dampener II's, Large Peroxide Cap Battery, Med Rep, a 400mm Plate and a Cap relay. Usually you have enough fitting left for a couple of small railguns and 3 assault launchers. It truely is a ship that needs to fly with a gang though, I wouldn't even bother undocking with it solo.
For a fleet setup, just switch out the 20km Disrupter for a Sensor Booster II, just 1 will take you to 250km locking range -----

Ok just curious, but do dampners not significantly increase lock time anymore (or is the lock time on T2 ships to good?)? Or else why is it noones suggested anythign like,:
1x warp scrambler 4x Good damps 2x ECM burst, or hypnos...
Evan if ECM isnt garentied, it should still only take a single break in lock to put him out for a bit (hence use brust), unless (perhapse do to stacking penalty?) the increase in lock time isnt significant enough....
((I'm sure its for a stupid reason I've overlooked))

Im not sure why everyone here is saying that the Lachesis is not a good pvp solo ship. They obviously have not ever put a serious effort into using it effectively. First off, you have a HUGE bonus to dampeners and warp disruptors, so you want to keep you engagements between 35-40 km. So with this in mind. Try this setup, as i have had alot of success with it in solo ganking of select targets (you are not going to kill a hac, or a bs at a gate due to lack of dps, but most else will die in short order)
Hi Slots: 3 Heavy Launcher II 2 200mm Rail II
Mid Slots: 5 Dampner II 1 Warp Disruptor II (Dark Blood is nice too) 1 SB II (to ensure first and fast lock)
Low Slots: 2 WCS 1 Small armor rep II (You should not take any dmg other than possiblly drones or fofs if you are unlucky so this is mostly an after fight repair method)
This setup is very effective in npcer killing. As you warp to a belt at 15 you will almost certainly be in range of scrambling them.
This also works well in sitting off of a gate like 25-30
For getting through minor camps this ship should have no problem as drones and precision missles will make short work of tacklers while the heavy hitters are dampened into the stone age allowing you to get out with your stabs and come back in at range.
Note that with this setup Max skillz are necessary or at least extreamly helpful as this is a very specialized ship to fly. Try this setup and enjoy the kills you will get.

Actually - your "fleet setup" is a waste of a good ship. You would as well use a normal Celestis for that sice they have the same bonuses to Remote Sensor Dampers. What you are paying about 40mil or so for in that case is a ROF bonus to the three missile launchers...
