When will the FanFest 2006 take place?
We got the info that it might be planned to take place a week or two after the Airwaves Festival in a side note on a different topic. There is a Jazz Festival in Rekjavik too among other cultural highlights, so the date isn't easy to guess.
Some people have to plan their holidays pretty early. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

We have some logistics to work out, so these dates are subject to change. However, we are targeting the 10th and 11th of November for FanFest 06.
The FanFest planning group will be meeting early next week and an official announcement should be forthcoming later next week.

I went to the first one but last year the price from the UK was almost double so didn't go.
I hope prices are better this year as it does not clash with the music festival.
If its a fair price I will try and go, if they try and rip me off, then they can sod off.

Anyone knows how much kroner (no not isk) it will cost from Norway to iceland to attend this pilgrim travel. ???
Just curioius as I know I WANT to go but if I knew how much it would cost (or a figure around how much) then I could start saving up some NKR's as I have always wanted to visit Iceland maybe even diving in tingvellur (I know I know it is wrong spelled).

Prices vary depending on the exact time. When the Fanfest is parallel to the Airwaves Festival or the Jazz Festival, housing and flight will cost more. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

Ive wanted to go for the past two years! But something always came up. THis sounds like a lot of fun. I went to the first fan fest for SWG back in the day (3 years ago) and had a blast. Suprisingly, SOE was not as uptight as I expected.
Im going to try to go this year. Question for anyone who has gone before, Dont know how much $ to bring. Whats a good amount for hotel and food....what did you end up spending? I know the flight will be most expensive but, about maybe $800, but im not sure about the rest.

Yea I know all about it at well. In a few weeks I have to have my time off request for the next 6 months turned in so I am eagerly awaiting an exact date as well. However me getting worked up over it isn't going to make that information available any sooner.
As far as cheap offer any time in November should be ideal. The last two trips I have made to Europe were both in and around November and they were both over 7 days long including multi-destination trips. Both were under $1500 airfare and hotel.

Flying from the U.S., Icelandair has had a "Fanfest" package since the middle of May. The deal for $100 off per person goes until either the 30th of June (on one part of their website) or June 20th (on a different part of the website).
That is why I keep prodding Kieron in this thread to announce it. $100 off for two of us means more drinking money in Iceland.

I am thinking of making my stay at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum. But since I hate long walks when drunk, I want to stay close to the beerpalace. or should I get a room at CCP HQ..? So if anyone can reccomend a/some hotel/s I would be happy!

I am thinking of making my stay at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum. But since I hate long walks when drunk, I want to stay close to the beerpalace. or should I get a room at CCP HQ..? So if anyone can reccomend a/some hotel/s I would be happy!
You will have about 10-15 minutes walking time from there. Iif you look at the location map on their website, look right to the top left and that is roughly where the Loftkastalinn is. ------

Do you think it lets a community manager look good when such a thread is called back to the first page over and over and over? I don't think it would make the community manager look better to have this thread locked neither.
We have word of the FanFest probably not taking place at the same time as the Airwaves Festival early in febuary '06 and it is a month now since we heard for the second time about 'More info will be announced by the end of the week'. Hello? Anyone working in the event management team? --*=*=*--

Just a warning: Most Icelanders I met in Stattgart over the weekend are a bit miffed atm because a certain football team lost a game on saturday. Don't poke them to hard. --*=*=*--

There have been some communication issues preventing us from a formal announcement, and for that I apologize. We are still looking at the second weekend in November for the FanFest, and hope to make an announcement in the very near future.
If you are trying to clear vacation time, please consider the second weekend of November an 'almost certainty'.

Haha, if they moved the date and the prices for the hotel and stuff are still the same, that sucks indeed ^^ Would have been cool to be able to attend the festival, too.
What's the price for the fanfest ticket? (or what was it last year) And is it much of a problem to get the ticket without booking the icelandair special bundle? I thought about visiting Reykjavik for a whole week so the special bundle is not that suitable.

Yah, I looked at the sight and noticed that the prices were about the same as with airwaves last year too.
They also mention a 100 dollar discount but don't forget the fine print that mentions about 100 dollars or so in taxes and security fees that are not included in the price. So i guess it comes out about even.

The package isn't offered with discounts from Germany at all. As I wrote up there, you book and basically lost every Euro. No change in date possible, no cancellation, no nothing will bring back the money short of you getting an extra insurance and an attest from your doctor. And they do not offer extra days as they do for flights from the US.
We're gonna see what happens now. It will be interesting for sure. --*=*=*--

Some critical research done, and here is my contribution to the EVE fanfest:
Beer Nr. 1 Egills Pilsner Beer Nr. 2 Egils Gull Beer Nr. 3 Egils Premium Beer nr. 4 Lager Beer nr. 5 Little John Beer Nr. 6 Spegill Beer Nr. 7 Thule Beer Nr. 8 Viking Gold Beer nr. 9 Viking Lager Beer Nr. 10 Viking Lite Beer Nr. 11 Viking Strong
Well. Doubt this overview will tell you whats best, but at least it will give you some critical information on whats available of icelandic beers.
I guess they offer imports too, but I prefer the national beers on my travels. Gives you a better taste of the country u are visiting
Happy reading

I - REALLY - have to ask..
The hotel room which will be included in the package, is it a shared deal, so you have to share the room with other people? Or is to for you alone?
The reason why I ask is when checking the rates at the Hotel Nordica Reykjavik It gave a price like 230 euro for one night at the hotel in a single room and 256 for a double...

The 230 euro a night is an applied single occupancy rate I beleive. As in for only 1 person using the room it costs you more. Not quiet sure how they work that one out tbh, I presume it's somethig to do with only one person buying food than 2. ------------------------------------------------- AWMCorp is Recruiting

I dunno. But they do state that the price is per night and per room. Not as in how many people who lives there.

Unless the Nordica changed their rooms, you'll have a room for two all for yourself. At least that's what they did at the FanFest04. Their restaurant is very good, the rooms are ****, the view is nice too, either seaside or towards the inland. And they have Pizzahut right there too (If you need pizza ... but generally the quality of food in Reykjavik is very good, along with the prices) Downside: The ccp HQ is about 40-50 minutes away on foot. --*=*=*--

Im afraid you wont find me toying around in the snow a dark november evening, or taking a refreshing bath at the blue lagoon on Iceland! No! If you want to find me, locate the hotel Nordica Bar, and look for the guy with 10 empty beer glasses in front of him

Having done some research, flights from Glasgow & Heathrow seem to be around ú102 if you book now for the weekend of 10th Nov. Rooms at the Radisson (expedia.co.uk) are ú87 per night (Nordica are quoting ú99 & Hotel Bjork are ú52), If you are staying longer there also seems to be a 5th night free at the Radisson & Bjork
If the events are in the same place as last year (Kieron can you confirm?). the Radisson is closer.

I SHOULD NOW BE COMPLETELY BOOKED!
Yep. I have now booked Hotel room for 4 nights at Hotel Nordica in Reykjavik. From 8th november to 12 of november. Could not wait any longer for those packages
My airplane leaves Oslo at 14:05 norwegian time at the 8th, and I will be flying out of Keflavik on the 12th at 17:00 Iceland time. And my seat number is 19F both ways, so you all know that

I still need to confirm holiday though :/
No, that package along with others would be the part which should have been ready months ago and still hasn't materialized.

Your web-fu is better than mine. Many thanks, you may claim your pint at EVE fest :) (Assuming I do actually get that accursed holiday booking in )

It's a bit late to plan for this year's fest, but a few of us will be looking at attending next year... Just a pity none of us AUSTRALIANS are looked after package-wise... I'd hate to know how much it's going to cost us to fly over... so a) there better BE a fan-fest next year, and b) the beer better be worth it :P As for the climate... well it doesn't sound too much different from Tasmania...
