My first character was a Brutor, with some extra points into charisma for a good "well rounded" feel. I decided missles are fun...and trained for caldari ships. Well I realized charisma was meh and decided I would reroll my character. I figured I would go caldari this time and go straight to missiles after I finished my learning skills. In the mean time I played around with my first character, mostly flying missions in a Kestrel or Caracal.
Well by the time I was done with learning skills I was damned well tired of flying around a slow ass Kestrel/Caracal and spamming missles all over the place. I wanted to fly something fast and fun, hell I had taken to ratting in 0.2 space in a rifter with my old character just to keep myself entertained. (Keep up that transversal and bring a lot of ammo.) Now I fly Rifters and, come Friday, a Jaguar. I have to say zooming around in a MWD/AC Stabber is SO much more fun than running away while spamming missiles.
Stick with Minmatar, at any rate, I will.

Minmatar are very good for pvp but you just need lots of skills.
Once you have guns t2, missiles t2, drones t2, armor/shield rep/hardeners t2
cap skills and such you can pwn most opponents even if they know you are in tempest and they prepare for you.
You can shield tank and gank/armor tank and ew stay at range with barrage, get close with hail, therm with phased and kill frigs with precisions.
You just need to wait till you are about 30-35m sp :P

I've wanted a 'phoon for some inexplicable reason ever since I first saw one.  However I never went any further than getting a Rupture (which I love for pvp btw  ).... until last night when i took the plunge and bought a Tyhpoon.... I wont beleive it sucks until i actually try it - At the least it's got to be more entertaining than the Fire and Forget Raven i've been flying for the past few months.

Im minmatar and I fly amarr,not because minmatar are bad at all...Just look bad.
Plus with amarr I see a cool lightshow and waste no ammo doing it =).

For me, the rifter is the best ship I've ever flown. Hopping into that scrapheap challenge pod-racer after chugging about in a Raven for a week always puts a smile on my face.
