Essentially its the same game, just upgraded, polished, and renamed. It's what Dust SHOULD have been. That's my understanding of it. |

Bags the question: How long will DUST be kept up and running after Legion hits... since the PS3 is an outdated console and the game wasn't really that successful.
I know, they said DUST will continue, but they did say many things before... "ginger forum goddess, space gypsy and stone nibbler extraordinaire!" Shalua Rui - CEO and founder of Rui Freelance Mining (RFLM) |

I agree. I believe they are using the names interchangeably on purpose because they are trying to draw the attention to legion so they can axe the travesty that is Dust. I thought that Project Legion was just the code name for the project because thats what CCP Rouge said. However, he is immediately contradicted by the other guy, it's subtle but they said it.
The thing is, consoles can not offer the power they need to make a successful shooter in THEIR vision. The second guy even said that only a few of the features from Legion would go to Dust.
Let's also keep in mind that he also said that Legion may not be a thing. He kept saying "If" we decide to make project legion a product. So, really it's all just a big flashy IRL money sink that is taking everyon'e attention off how bad Dust is and to provide substance to an otherwise uneventful Fanfest presentation. |

well it would be confusing if they become two different games with no cross compatibility, you would end up splitting a lets face it smaller community of players in two, which would cause confusion in the interlinked chat system, with two sets of dusters, making corp organisation difficult, not to mention confusion for new players coming across the games. they would have to eventually scrap dust to avoid this, or keep them two games merged |

I agree with this as well. I think they are just not ready to publicly admit they failed Dust. It would not be fair to either community to keep both games running. If they decide to deploy Legion they'll drop Dust.
We shall see. All we can do at the moment is speculate anyways. We won't know anymore information for probably another 6 months to a year, if even then giving CCP's track record for promising undeliverable material. They tend to only deploy about 60% of what they say they'll deploy. |

just prefix the pc dusties as "PC Master Race name" problem solved. This is my signature. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.-á Without me, my signature is useless. Without my signature, I am useless |

They haven't been clear on what exactly will happen to dust, probably because they haven't figured that out. That's CCP, and for them, that's normal.
What's clear: -Legion is the new thing on the PC. -Dust is the old thing on the PS3. -If they maintain dust at all, it will be skeleton crew. They don't want to abandon the dust players though, and still need to do the work to see what the best course of action will be, which may include porting dust players/characters over to legion. -The future of legion beyond "we want it on the PC" isn't clear either, but I wouldn't be even a little bit surprised if it was eventually ported over to PS4, because CCP has a total hard-on for awful companies. As said already, they are using the name interchangeably because they want to give the impresstion they will contenue to do both. Just in case legion fails to be finished. The problem is the keynote and the sesstion right after was pretty much the dagger in the heart of dust.
This was a stupid move by CCP. No not making legion, but how they went about it.
The keynote should have been 'ok so we are making this new game, EvE Legion, it will replace dust, but its not here yet and we think it won;t be here for xxx months. So here is a preview of that.. *demo* ok now this is what we are going to do in the meantime to help the dust transition/upgade, your next expansion is... and here is whats in it."
OR
"Yea, so dust is dead... sorry.. however, on XXX we will show you Dust v2.. eve Legion"
They are pretty much dragging it out. which is the crappy thing. The rest i am quite pleased with. And if they use the eve launcher to help link it together with valk and eve then i'm happy. |

They honestly might not be able to openly say that Dust is dead. Maybe they have some deal with Sony that they have to keep it running for X amount of time. Idk. Either way I agree, all one has to do is read between the lines and they'll see that Dust is on it's Death bed and CCP just injected an air bubble into the IV line. They also could have handled this better, the fact that they announced this new project with no more information, other than "None of this is coming to Dust and this is for PC," is just plain disrespectful to the ENTIRE community, not just Dust players.
I personally believe, (Myself included) that all Dust players should get a free migration to the new Legion platform. This is of course, assuming Legion does launch.
I'm excited for Legion, it looks just like the hopes and dreams I had for Dust. Im just fortunate that I had the foresight to not spend anymore than $70 on the game. |

There are a few things that stand out. Valkyrie is running unreal 4, DUST is running unreal 3, it looks like legion is running unreal 4 as well. Graphics are better (but then sorry console guys graphics are always better on PC). Additionally, games are far easier to design for PC than they are for consoles and PC's open many more possibilities than consoles do in programming terms.
DUST should have always been a PC game. I own consoles, but never touch them, my teenagers do but I can't stand them. CCP did a beta test run on console and lets face it it didn't work. Console players generally play a new game until the next "new" thing comes out, its always been that way. PC gamers tend to stick around, hell there are still COD 2 servers running, and red orchestra ostfront and darkest hour servers running.

This question popped into my head during the Twitch stream so I asked it
Quote: Freelancer117: Saberwing, will there be a situation where Dust514 on ps3 and LEgion on PC exist together ?
Ccp_saberwing: Freelancer: as of right now yes. They wont impact one another though and will function independently though
Eve rule no.1: The players will make a better version of the game, then CCP initially plans.

Eh, I say keep a positive attitude, Dust was not a failure (After all you can still derive some enjoyment from it). Let us just call it a learning experience. But I think we can all agree Legion is the best bet for making Dust the game it should be. |
