I started playing MMO's with EQ and have probably played 75% of them. As a rule I never ever ever PVP...except one time.
I really liked Warsong Gulch in WoW. Why is that? I hate open world PVP, I despise ganking, I'm the biggest carebear in like ever but for some reason I couldn't tear myself away from Warsong.
Why? I'm not sure. But for me, that REALLY worked. |

I'd think the angle is obvious: if a large chunk of Eve's players aren't PVPing, why not? What can you do to get them to do so?
What was it about Warsong that successfully GOT me to PVP and how can that be applied here? |

But you had to try WSG to know you liked it. So why not try PvP in other games too?

I liked the PvP battlegrounds too, but I liked PvP servers as well, people like to knock WoW and I would never play it now, but back in the day, it was the perfect game at the perfect time, which is why it was so hugely popular, and I made friends on that game that I actually still talk to, for now, for me- I appreciate the emergent gameplay of a game like EvE, but i'm not one of these people who refuses to acknowledge the hundreds of hours of enjoyment from a game just because it's old hat and tired now. But for the OP, I urge you to try some spaceship PvP, it. is. fun.
I've always liked games where you just bash people, tekken, goldeneye, a game has to be super memorable like FF7 or metal gear solid or fallout to be a game I'll play by myself because games have always been about establishing superiority in my mind, if there's no one around to bash, i just feel lonely. People are afriad of nothing, what is so terrible about losing ISK? It won't exist in the future, everything you have on the game will be gone then anyway, you should treat yourself to some fun while you can OP. |

Trying to avoid PvP in Eve is already PvP'ing. And it's, imo, a perfectly valid form of PvP and playing. Nothing has to be done to make people like that do different forms of PvP on their own, if they don't want to. |

I dont...
Why do you want to convince people to do something they dont want to do?

How would it be different from being owned going into WSG because you don't know what's going on yet?

Because in WSG all players were around my level, all had similar gear, and no player vastly outclassed or out geared anyone else. You had a chance. I feel if I stick my head into lowsec or 0.0, I will have no chance. |

I dont know which you are more wrong about;
That WoW had some sort of balance
Or that in EvE, your items and SP are more important that what you know (and by extension can quickly learn). It can't be applied here. PvP in WoW revolves around dying and respawning over and over until you start getting better gear and learn strategies to counter every class. Oh god. |

This is very different from the WoW PvP I remember. Getting into WSG to come across players who you almost couldn't hurt, while they killed you within a few seconds, due to their superior gear, and only after long and tedious grind you could slowly catch up getting your own pvp gear.
In Eve, I as newbie am clearly at a disadvantage when I meet someone with better skills and maybe more expensive modules if they are in a similar ship than me. When I go up against a Daredevil in my blaster Merlin or something like that. But in Eve, if I am smart and pay attention, I most of the time don't have to take those fights. It's a game of cat and mouse, and the short time I've spent in low sec before joining my current corp I didn't kill anything and was killed a few times, but I had tons of fun getting away from people who wanted to kill me. And the fights I lost weren't that one-sided, despite my opponents, if I remember right, having years older characters than I had. |

The PVP in EVE blows other games out of the water because of this. It's a great blend of cunning, strategy and an understanding of the mechanics in play.
I don't know about this WoW server but I've found nearly all other PVP experiences are too reliant on understanding game mechanics and don't really enough on player ingenuity. EVE does and that is why it's the best game ever despite barely being an actual good game. |

You can also outsmart people in WoW and kill them while having inferior gear or, in world/open pvp, get away from them. Difference may be, that when you go into Warsiong Gulch (or any Battleground) in WoW you go there with the mindset to participate in PVP. In EVE it may be smart to always expect PVP but we all know that most people don't or don't want to PVP at all. I can see what you see not - vision milky then eyes rot. When you turn they will be gone - whispering their hidden song. |

Well it was, when it was a 12 hour back and forth, not running up to the end and whoever gets to the last boss first wins as its been for years. The death of proper pvp in wow is one of the many reasons I stopped playing it as my fantasy mmo
