Its one of those web browser, build your empire, attack others, turn based games :). Played it a couple months ago as part of the Five alliance and we ended up with a fairly large group in there which was fun for a while. Now the game has more alliance support so you can combine fleets which was something really missing from when I last played it.
A new universe (number 20) has just opened today so very good timing if we want to have a go as a Eve player alliance.
Anyone interested?

Quick starting guide is to build a few metal mines along with power plants to support them, you need metal more then crystal to start. Remeber when you have build your first mines and power stations to go into the resources section and put their production to 100%.
There is no chat unfortunatly and circular mails could get old quickly so I would use this thread for now. I'l see about getting a forum up for it.

Ok to chat use alliance section look under send circular.
To read messages to you go to Overview.
Also you seem to get an influx of resources once an hour [i think]. So i advise you read the tutorials first.
Start by getting the metal mine to level 3 and solar collector to 2 and a crystal mine to 1 to begine with.

I just worked out the resource thing it is per hour but its devided into 6 i think and you get each of the portions every 10 minuites.

You can play an arena for a few days for free--past then you'll be disadvantaged.
The whole point of being "unkeyed" is that you can figure out whether you'll have a chance or not. If you screwed up really badly early on, you can just quit.
To be honest, 5 euros is nothing for a game that good. Its worth paying for.

Commander is pretty good for management and organisation but thats about it.
You don't get less out of the game if you don't subscribe imo.

No the Commander is not worth the monthly fee. The added things are useful but if you know what your doing you don't really need them.
I play in Universe 1 and you can find me on plant 1:306:8. name: Exavier
If anyone else is there feel free to gimme a holler :P
BTW if you plan to attack ppl later i recommend finding a copy of SpeedSim. It will save you alot of trouble and losses :P
EDIT: btw score is calculated by 1 point for every 10,000 resorces you have in assets (buildings, research, ships)

Eh ok I might as well...
Will do that in about 6hrs when i get home from work. My job has Ogame blocked :(
EDIT: Though i have to say the newer universes are quite boring due to the lack of high level ppl trying to gank your planets resorces on a regular basis :P
That and it will really suck starting from scratch again :P

For everyone thats joining... Quick Start Guide (and yes i am doing this from memory)
Build Solar Plant - Generates Energy
Build 2 Metal Mines - Generates metal, Consumes energy
Build Solar Plant lvl 2 - Generates enough energy for 2 more mines
Build 1 metal mine
Build 1 Crystal Mine - Generates Crystal
Build another solar plant lvl 3
Repeat building metal, then crystal, then solar untill you get up to about lvl 5-6 solar.
Build extra solar.
Build 2 Deut Synths - you shouldn't need more then this early on
Build Labratorys untill "Impulse Engines" shows up in the research menu (or check Technologies tab for exact number needed)
Build 2 Robotics Factories to unlock Shipyard.
Proceed to upgrade mines while researching Impulse to 4 (think it was 4 needed)
Build shipyards until Colony Ship shows up under Shipyard Menu
Build Colony Ships
Claim more planets
Repeat process on new planets
EDIT: btw the prices on buildings go up for each level. I believe its 1.5x for mines and power gens and 2x for everything else and research. On my main account I have a lvl 28 Crystal Mine... lvl 29 will cost me 24mil metal, 12mil crystal... or something like that :P

I also sent a request for the allience.
hmmm this universe has the ACS on it (Advanced Combat System). Something thats not on Universe 1 lol
Basicly in universe 1 you cannot station fleets on allied worlds or do joint attacks because of this. Granted there are other ways of killing things. The top guys in Universe 1 prefer using fleets of 200-300 deathstars :P

If you have plenty of time to spend in the game you raid to get the resorces to build colony ships...
If your like me and too busy playing EVE, Working, and... hmmm... playing EVE. You learn how to turtle (ogame term) the resorce stockpile to keep yourself from being considered valuble enough to attack :P
My Univ 1 account is like this... 550k score and all of it is in undestroyable assets (Structures and Research) with the exeption of about 1500 cargo ships and 2 death stars :P

Oh, and thanks for the tip on the navigation bar TunaFish....I clicked there before and nuttin' happened. Cleared cache, and suddenly the nav bar is happy, and I'm registered.
Gotta say loxy's face reminds of me of the singing in the rain vid from awhile back...was that you lox?

If anyone needs help or advice, these guys TPR have been ingame since the start in uni 2 and have a pretty good alliance that could be very friendly to you

A quick overview so far to help you decide if you want to join or not.
First of all its free, the features that you have to pay fore are unnessasary.
Its a long term web game where you can play successfully by spending as little as 5 minuites a day playing. So far ive enjoyed this web browser game and i am making progress it seems.
Well if you decide to join to start with build metal mine to 5 crystal mine to 1 and solar plant to 5. For the secret to this game in the first month or so it seems is to have a LOT of metal and crystalls. In the begining ignor Deuterium till you are ready to begine reserch And defence and ship production.

Yeah, I second what St said- it's great fun with not much time input needed. With a forum that Loxy setup for noob questions (and god knows we are mainly noobs), it makes the game more playable. Sign up and try it!

I've posted here, and been accepted to the Alliance in-game, but I can't figure out how to get registered at the loxyrider forums.
I try to post in the thread that says "post here for access", but it wants me to login first, and since I don't have an account yet...and there's no "register" button,

That little label on the left hand side of the screen that says "navigation".....hold yer mouse over it. It'll pop up...and from there, get registered!

Dont forget to use Espionage probes to scout out raiding targets first eris.

i've registered for the game and due to being on aol every time i try to log in it says it cant due to the ip being different it then tells you to go to the options section to change a setting to fix this but i believe you cant do this till you have logged in and i cant post on their forums to ask a question due to not being able to log in again, any ideas?

Use a different browser, the game doesnt allow AOL it seems, from what i was reading of someone's forum post there, just use IE/mozilla/firefox/opera, whicherver takes your fancy (go team mozilla!)

As a avid Ogame player on universe 13 with 8 planets, blobbing does not work as the home planet has to have the detriu,, so even with 108 members, if they hom eplanet who controls the entire fleet doesnt have a detrium mine @ about 29, which wont happen for around 8 months.
So this lets blob em

And as for your expert leaders on 20, its been open maybe a month so yes, there much mroe expert than me who has been playing for a hell of alot longer. Shut up

Whoever posted the guide earlier recommending getting up to "level 6 or 7 solar" at most while going for impulse drives level 3 is insane: you need on the order of 28000 crystal for the 3 levels of that research, and that'll take weeks with such a low solar.
I've got a level 3 fusion plant and level 12 solar (fully used by mines) and its still not enough it seems... I'll be upgrading to a level 13 soon, and then will have colony ships by tomorrow.

Fusion consumes Det, which is a important factor as your tech goes on, Satellite works best if you are close to the sun:)

Not enough... on my planet (pretty far from the sun) they give a mere 22 each. Considering their vulnerability and vast crystal cost, I wouldn't recommend them unless you're really out of options.
Fusion Reactors, on the other hand, are uber.
P.S. Build a fleet of a single light fighter and a bunch of cargo ships first thing you can. Espionage everyone within a few solar systems who appears weak or AFK, and steal everything they have.
Doing so now and smashing my head on the table for not discovering it sooner :) Got enough minerals for most of the stuff i need finally :)

By the way, whats a good number of planet slots for a planet?
Oh, and also, I notice that the mining in general becomes a diminishing return very quickly. Its gotten to the point where I get 5-10 times more resources from raiding than I do from mining (and I have two planets with level 14-16 mines). It takes me three to four days' worth of mining to afford a mine and the energy infrastructure to support it, while in the past it used to take mere hours. It seems to me that it would be vastly more efficient to simply spend more on fleets to raid more: why would anyone want mines above level 15-20?

UNI 2 veteran since last year and EVE player since last year has now started uni 20 to join his brothers and sisters of EVE
in UNI 2 of ogame, i managed an alliance, it still exists to this day but was renamed and a leader change, i am now a strong member of SHO in uni 2, though i spend more time now a days playing eve i still pop in to lvl up something or add to my 14k missles and 15 k small lasers

Hello ogamers, i just started with ogame, and i have some basic stuff built up, like metal mine at lvl14, crystal mine at lvl12, deterium at 10 etc.

For the folks who are starting Ogame, lets hope you read this. :)
The EVE Alliance has been dead for some months. For about two months I searched long and hard through Eve Online for players who still played Ogame, and only came up with a handful. I was unimpressed overall.
The Enslaver was the only pilot with a rank worth mentioning, and he's quit as far as I can tell. Probably something to do with his status as a dev with LV that got called out, and his priorities in life getting shaken up.
Regardless, I've been playing since February, and I'm ranked higher now than anyone who started last year. If you join Ogame, look me up in game (Uni20) and I'll get you pointed in the right direction. :)

get the metal mine to 5 and powerplant to 4 and crystal mine to 1 first.

I will say that we wil probably need a private chat system for this like say a forum or a chat channel as it wnt be suported in here one idea is to create a private channel in eve for Ogame alliance members.
