Well, I just started level 4 missions, so can only really speak of 3 and under. I got some decent loot from time to time doing level 3 missions. Nothing faction. But, would get things worth maybe 300K or so. Every now and again get something worth a million.
What frustrated me is I would see all of these dread guristas ships, but not one of them would drop loot. The least they could do would be to drop some faction ammo once in a while...but no, nothing.
I was doing Guristas Extravaganza level 4 the other day and was trying to do the bonus area because eveinfo.com said there was faction loot there. What they didn't say is that they used warp scramblers...lol Ended up losing my Raven.

I got a +1 charisma implant from a can the other day, does that count?
Just kidding - I found arlabest launchers, modulated energy beams or scout artillery. Not the really valuable stuff like officer mods, but I have seen people writing they found such things. Generally I think missions can drop valuable stuff, but with a smaller frequency than non-mission ratting.

Have had some nice stuff
5% ice mining implant, Arbalest siege and cruise launchers, 27.44% cargo expanders all sorts of stuff. Trouble is I am getting lazy and dont loot as much as I used to just want to blast through them and get a navy Raven offer. -----------------------------------------------

Thypicaly I tend to get good loot when doing missions that involves killing navy ships. After Enemies abound I got a few moda and anode guns, one modal neutron and one modal ion iirc. Not to mention a dimishing nos. Seem to be more or less on pair with belt rats ________________________________________________

Edited by: Tryptic Photon on 30/05/2006 19:59:52 Off the top of my head I've gotten the best loot from level 2 missions. Don't know why but haven't really gotten anything great from level 3.
Level 2 "Gone Berserk" popped a low-grade Snake Gamma implant. My corp mate got the same thing on the same mission the other day, something about this mission... I've also gotten Type D Expander SS from "Silence the Informant", Arbalest launchers from "Human Cattle" and others, the occasional nice named railguns or hardeners.
So I still check every can. Bookmark the area, come back in an Exeq w/nanofibers, a/b, to scoop more efficiently.

Did a lvl 4 with a corp mate and got an extra spawn that wasn't listed on the mission site I used. It was a dread pith commander and another BS that wasn't all that great. The commander had a 4.5 mil bounty and dropped about 30-40 mil in faction loot. It was the first lvl 4 we did and the only one so far to drop that much awesome loot. Is this how some people get such large ammounts of isk/loot from lvl4's and are extra spawns like this at random?

Best loot i ever got from a regular mission was a Low Grade Slave Alpha implant. Best I ever got from a storyline was a Domination Invul Field. And that's it for faction loot.
Get good named items everyonce in awhile, arbalast launchers, fleeting props, stuff like that.
It's always good to check the market on stuff you aren't familiar with. I almost reprocessed some ECCM mod the other day, then checked the market. It was worth like 10 mil.

Not from lvl 3 missions, no. I did get about 3mil of loot from a storyline agent while running lvl 3 but I don't know if that counts or not. -- (Battle hardened miner)

I got about 30 million in loot from the second part of 'Illegal Drugs' (A level 2 Caldari mission chain). Granted, 26 million of that was from a "Local Hull Conversion Expanded Cargo I"... but yeah... that was nice to see after losing a Ferox to a pirate in 0.4 space.

Just a week ago I did 1 lvl 4 mission and got the uber-nice, semi-rare dread guristas spawn. I looted it afterwards and found a t2 implant called Crystal Epsillion worth roughly 300 million isk. Oh happy days....
Sold that sucker and got myself a new BS + t2 fittings to play with. Now that's awesome looting! But that is the exception to the rule. I'd say about 90% of what I loot gets melted down to minerals, which go to building my ammo for free. That way I avoid cutting into bounty profits with expenses of blowing up the ships.
Getting Amarr industrial skill and science IV was the best thing I ever did for looting, because now I can use a sigil with nanofibers, AB, and 2 tractor beams. You wouldn't believe how much time that saves. Looting is a snap.

While I have not done a lvl 3 in a while I can say my lvl 4 missions average from 25mil to 50mil in loot. Most of it is garbage (yes... I loot it ALL ) but I just refine that and build something useful out of it. I do remember once getting a +3 Perception Implant dropped from a non-named NPC in a lvl 3 mission too. You want loot? Get you faction up and do COSMOS and lvl 4 Storyline missions. As I see it good loot comes one in every 12 missions, all the rest are for mins and hull upgrades for my Iteron loot-can-gathering machine.

Mission loot = crap, although gather it all and after a day of running missions you have a nice few mill in minerals .

Gallente/Serpentis are the most prone to dropping good loot as they offer the occasional named expander. Other loot tends to be crap, with the exception of the rare implant or the even more rare commander spawn in gone Berserk/blockade etc.

like most lvl's you get a random chance of getting good loot but you get more chance on higher lvl's due to the amount of rats/npc's blowing up buildings help i am doing lvl4's and normally get over 10 mill in loot per mission but some mission's its the bounty over loot and other missions its loot over the bountys, as for the poeple that are not getting the good loot any more Do'h pick it up and there are more poeple doing lvl4's so your chance's of getting the good loot depends on how fast you kill the rats i been getting skill book worth 2+ mill each and some mods over 4 mill isk so stop reading forums and get on with the game

Well i am not really sure how much they would sell for but during one EASY lvl4 mission ( The Serpentis Spies i think) i got 2 Local Cargo expanders. U know the 27.44% cargo expander. Also i have gotten ALOT of other good stuff but mind u i do ***** mission and after 2 sort of mild weeks running missions i have 25k m3 of crap that needs to be reprocessed

Edited by: Arakasai on 31/05/2006 16:05:10 It is worth more to go run another mission rather than loot. The problem is that people cannot get the very rare expensive loot items off their minds and convince themselves that it is worth it to loot.
Save yourself the hassle, unless you enjoy looting just skip it and do another mission instead. Time is better spent that way.
Now, to short circuit all the folks that are going to come on here and tell me I am wrong because they "Believe" it rather than "Know" it.
I track my missions (I tracked them for a month, looting every mission to figure it out): 1. I track my mission reward 2. I track my bonus reward 3. I track my LP to isk numbers 4. I track my bounty numbers 5. I track my loot (Refine/Sell) numbers 6. I track the time it takes to complete a mission 7. I track the time it takes to loot a mission
I actually track the numbers, I don't just "feel" one way or the other is better. Track it yourself and I imagine you will agree with me.
NOTE: 1. There are a couple of missions worth looting, they are the exception to the rule. 2. I have a tractor beam on my Raven: I loot BattleShips and named NPCs if it is convinient. I never spend time looting just to loot anymore. 3. I have Negotiation IV and both pertinent book skills to IV as well.

Not your run of the mill mission.
But 'covering your tracks' the boss man droped me a dread cruise launcher and a named sheild amp the other night.
But general generics.. your best bet is top of the line t1 large guns.. and top expanders. ______ Long ago one gorgeous night, we let the stars grow free. We let Zhuge do that once, he came back carrying a traffic cone, a forsale sign and three empty bottles of dutch lager. He also lost his Zimmer Frame... - Imaran

My best drop has been a Hardwiring - Inherent Implants 'Highwall' HX-2 -- a +5% mining yield implant. This was on a Level 4 Revenge is Sweet mission and dropped from the named NPC Kyokan.
I'm not much of a miner, so it's currently on auction.
Apart from that not much in 120+ Gallente level 4s, though I've just been offered a +4 implant from a storyline mission.
Cheers, Arrs.

I've gotten decent loot with enough of a pattern now that I only check certain cans/missions.
L2 Silence the Informant, I always check the structures at the end. While they're normally terrible hardwires, I have gotten a couple 3-4mil hardwires.
Any mission with Caracal style NPCs, be it Mercs, Mordus, Pith, Guristas. Have gotten 6x XR-3200, 5x Arby Heavy, many many arby, limos, funny (xr, oe, sv, te) heavy, standard, assault launchers.
Any mission with Blackbird looking NPCs, got a bunch of named Hypnos Multi ECMs from them.
Any mission where you notice an NPC NOS'ing you. Have gotten 2x E50 med nos, 1x small diminishing, 1x med diminishing this way.
The Roden shipyard freighters in IA, got a few expanders from this.
L3 Angel Strike storyline series. Got +3 social, +3 willpower, +3 perc from this series.
Too many others to list.

On Rogue Slave Traders, I once saw that an 8 mill Rat spawned. When I killed him I got looted some Dark Blood T2 Laser Crystals and a Dark Blood Large Armour Repairer.
I'd call that pretty decent loot. BUt it's rare. DAMN rare. IMO, good loot should be a BIT more common for mission runners.

My best finds are Low-Grade Crystal Gamma implant on a L2 and a Domination Photon hardener. $140 million and $12 million each. I recycle about 95% of the junk they give me, but that weekly haul to Jita nets a hefty sum-junk adds up.

Well i use a domi for running missions, and ive got a tractor beam. It makes general looting quite easy. I sit in one spot most of the time, the npc's generally like to get within 20km most of the time so ill be looting while im killing. Right from the first ship to explode ill target the can and start hauling it in. The only problem comes when you run out of cargo space, so you just pop everything but your ammo out in a jetcan and BM it and continue hauling. The end result is you finish a mission with a maximum of 5% extra time spent looting, and it will take all of 5 minutes extra in a hauler to pick up the 1-2 full cans in space afterwards.

IMO, if its not worthwhile to loot, then your doing one of two things.
1) looting badly. that is, your doing something other than a cargo-heavy ship, with at least one or two tractor beams, and nanofibers and such. cases where you can do 99% of the looting as you kill, even in a slow ship, doesn't count.
2) pushing too hard. take your time, enjoy yourself, on most level 4 missions with more than 10 targets, (most) I find at least one or two things that made it worthwhile,
then again, maybe I'm just easy to please. if I find a few named launchers or guns or whatever, I deem it worthwhile. to sell? nah, but it all goes into my little packrat hoard. as a result, I can fit practically any ship I can fly, and some I can't, with at least SLIGHTLY better than standard modules, almost all around(still get very few BS-size weapons), without even thinking about it.
I still wish there was more BS-scale hardware dropped... but I find it greatly amusing when people say its not worthwhile to loot.
it really does add up.
oh, most memorable loots...
+5% mining yeild implant handful of named expanders, some of which being local hull's. buckets of second-place named, and top named(non-officer/faction) modules of all sorts, including webbers, a painter, guns, afterburners/mwd's, ECM, loads of sensor boosters, nos, neuts, ect....
personally I see value in being able to fit any ship I want, with at worst, standard type equipment, of nearly any variety I wish, without spending any money, or minerals, or anything, just a few minutes looting...
