WOOT I have found another "23" or maybe 31 in this thread.
OP get 5-8 other people to gang with you. continue with your day. When he does that again everyone gang warps to that member he is stealing from. Problem solved.
All the rest of you...HOLY MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS Cant you read? MISSION LOOT not mining into jet can. This guy set the OP up, for PVP so OP is wrong and this Lamer is right? And he contiunes?
OP get a gang together...deal with him...and never use this alt again to post here...these guys have been looking for a new target.

That's all loot libertator flagging is about. That practice doesn't even come close to any loop hole. Noone forces you to attack someonewho's flagged for nicking stuff from 'your' cans. Miners and mission runners have been fighting two years to get something like that implemented so they have a chance to fight if they want to.
Was being diplomatic.
I know both mechanisms were the result of people whining for months. But I'm not entirely convinced the two were supposed to interact that way. Although CCP must've guessed they would.
I think I remember CCPs response being. Cause and effect.
If you steal you get shot.
If you shoot you get shot.
As far as GTCs go its not much different to ebayers and they've been banned before now. Just shows how principles slip when CCP get a cut of the money.

Get over it. True "vets" started in 2003 and had to bust their a$$ to make any money in this game. You can go out and replace your foolishly lost Raven in a week's play time....much less a day of play time given today's reward system. Suck it up and take it as a lesson learned. |

Well.
I agree that the can flagging rules are quite hard to learn. I'm not sure I know how they work myself.
BUT if you're rich enough to fly a faction fitted HAC worth 550M you should know enough to not lose it to concord.
Another thing, this isn't about vets or newbs. I could probably do the same thing with a 2 week old alt if I wanted to. It's all about experience. Afaik this game is all about pvp. Non-consensual pvp. You've just had a taste of it. Live with it.

I'm still quite new to EVE, but that guy in the HAC... rofl!
Don't risk what you don't want to lose... but I do sympathise with your position. It is a harsh lesson to learn, I learned it in a frigate because I couldn't afford a battlehip when I was still learning basic things like PVP flags.

Originally by: Varia Net I wonder why CCP does not treat newcomers with more care?
I wonder why newcomers, who pay as much per month as veterans, are not given some protection that allows them to grow.
There is such protection, I hear you say.
Lemme recall today's events.
/me was doing a mission (lvl 3, Blokkade) in a Raven.
A player Davlin Lot'ze shows up in a Kestrel, and starts shooting at my target. So, I target him, to show that I don't appreciate his intrusion. I also invite him to a personal convo, without response.
Then he loots a container, and is all red flashing.
/me, upset with this theft, launches missiles at him, to protect MY containers.
In short: if /me (noob) does not fire upon the thief (veteran), the thief will get away with his theft.
His ship gets destroyed, and he flies off in his pod. Justice done?
NO Because EVE says: you killed a thief, hence the thief may kill you. An eye for an eye...
The thief (veteran) comes back in a fully equiped Scorpion (for PVP) and starts warpscrambling, and attacking me with T2 drones and torps. I stand no chance, and see my shields, armor and hull go down with each new second.
A buddy of mine, Drako Krakin, whom I had ganged up with, comes to my rescue, but does not get any killrights. Having his warnings set off, he rushes to my location, to engage the veteran thief, only to get killed by CONCORD. He loses a HAC and precious stuff, worth in total: 550M ISK. No exaggeration.
In short: WHY are veterans treated to a win-win situation in highsec systems? ... Allowed to either loot containers unpunishedly, or get killrights to show up later with a hightech vessel, equiped for PVP, to kill the newbie defending his containers, and loot his ship's modules?
If you've been in a situation like this, contact me. If there's enough of us, we may acutally sue CCP, for not treating all customers alike, by giving the veterans unfair advantages.
Unless CCP takes care of this noob bashing. My suggestion would be: if the aggressor who loots containers, and gets attacked by the owner, changes ship, he should lose his kill rights. Then all the bashing will become impossible.
agree 100% he did it to me to i was only in a ferox luckily, hes done it hundreds of times and yes i think kill rights should stop if u change ship, my corp have him a -10 now and hes a 1 man corp so if u war deced him u could kill him whenever ur corp saw him ;-) Still its an old trick and i shouldnt have fallen for it and realy neither should u, imho.

Davlin's ben doing this for ages. If you bother to watch local you will see people whining about the use of what i consider an exploit for ages. However I although never dumb enough to fall for this myself. I found I can get petty revenge for the irritation caused to me by the local whines by accidently bumping him wherever possible. Either live with it or gather a large group of buddies to gang with you and Up the stakes a bit.
looking on the bright side davlin taught you somthing and aleviated the boring mission grind with somthing a little different

Your rights to /rant self-terminated themselves with this statement. You are flying in a raven = you are not a newcomer.
And your friend should learn how game mechanics work before running around in 550M ISK ships.
No simpathy for you, sorry.

No, wait, you did. It's unfortunate that you and your friend lost, but you've learnt an important lesson about how the game mechanics work. Don't worry too much about level 3 loot anyway, it's rarely worth much; if you want to grab it get a tractor beam and loot as you go. And as for suing, well, wouldn't it be cheaper for all concerned to for you to step back and get a sense of perspective on the situation? It's only bits, it's not like you lost real money or real property.
Nah,
Just a case of "Poor design on flagging".
The agressor got flagged and subsequently popped, which was his original intention. After the last shot fired, the defender was flagged for 15mins towards the aggressor. Now the aggressos just picked a new ship and popped the defender.
Easily solved by removing the flagging on any ship change. --- Sell orders Recruitment

I don't think this "varia Net" has a point, do you know how hard it was to crawl through the muck and filth to get a CRUISER when the game was released? You bought your isk, you didn't even earn it when these days it's so easy to get, it's everywhere. You forfeit any privilages to complain when you do what you did. You think you had it tough, don't make me laugh. Learn from this and do better next time.

Originally by: LUGAL MOP'N'GLO The only problem I have with the OP is that he continually blames the 'vet' in this situation when it was his own fault that he got popped. Right click, show info on the guy you are about to F-key and see how old he is. Might find something fishy about a 3yr old player flying a T1 frig messing with you, a n00b.
In this situation if I were a month old, I would have attacked him because I wasn't too sure of the game mechanics. I also... wouldn't have been in a Raven that young, but buying isk... that's your thing. I would have gone... Sh*t that sucks, now I know not to do it again. I wouldn't have come to the forums and made an eeeeehhhhaawww of myself.
The "Vet" in question flys a fully stabbed ECM scorp...A fitting type that more than one poster in this thread camplains about...
It takes a couple of ships to lock him down and he will run from any frig even when not aggressed and not in his scorp..bring enuff to lock him down he will complain that he is being blobed...
While yes I do think the OP is suffering from some plot loss the player that nailed him is pretty much the poster child for the "carebear pirate" pulls the crap on gate/station based missions with the occasional belt attempt on miners...
Imean come on he warped from me when he was trying his little trick on someone whihle i was orbiting him in a enyo and he was in his ferox.
His fitting seems to be seige in highs, ecm +1 scram in mids andfull rack of stabs... ========= "I am not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why can`t we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem fix its self |

Can/ore theifs shouldnt get killrights on people that protect their belongings, thats just wrong imho
Dont ask me why they do it, I never was into dumbing a game down and call it gamemechanics, heck I play Eve to have fun and part of that is the challenge, guess some people just care to just about the playmoney

Can I add my tuppence worth ...
1) Don't take that ****ty mission 100km off the gate 2) Don't come to the forums with any expectation of sympathy. Rightly or wrongly they are a more dangerous place than lowsec! 3) The most vocal regular people on these forums make up a tiny amount of the playerbase
Take off all trade, learning, science skillpoints and then:
1-3m SP - competent frig pilot 3-8m SP - beginnings of competent crusiser pilot 8m+ - beginning to be able to step into a battleship
Don't underestimate the skills needed to fly ships. I went into a Stabber cruiser way before I was ready and found it frustrating. Lacking in tracking skills etc. but never realise at the time.
Should have stuck with a Rifter for my first 3 months before even trying to step up to a cruiser.
I think the happiest people in Eve are those with say 5 mill skills who are flying frigs with excellent supporting skills and then move up to AFs next. Don't run to a BS.

Edited by: Plutoinum on 25/08/2006 13:03:20 I agree that the vet wasn't nice, but you lack the understanding of the purpose of can flagging. Some time ago there was no flagging. Everyone could steal from cans and noone could do anything about it in high sec. This has been for years.
People weren't happy, that they couldn't attack the thief without Concorde intervention. And so we got can flagging. It hasn't the purpose to make it easy to get revenge or to ensure that the thief gets some punishment. Can flagging means only that you can attack someone, who stole from you, at your own risk in empire without Concord intervention. It doesn't mean that Concord helps you in any way, it means that Concord doesn't help the thief anymore, if you try to take revenge, which made revenge impossible in the past. Big difference.
But like I said, it wasn't nice, but CCP doesn't enforce some medieval honor rules or something like that in this universe, because it doesn't fit. So accept it and learn ... and don't sell gtcs for isk, if you can't stand the loss later.

Empire = Griefers home, with attackers advantage 0.0 = real risk vs reward, fun fun fun pvp
My suggestion to any newbie I come across is to go join a 0.0 corp and live out there. Better resources and more experienced voices to help you out in your desicions. The first few weeks will be tough but thats cause of EVE's steep learning curve (lots of things to learn at once).
