New fashion trend amongst pirates: Camping in empire space, systems under 0.5. But not at the gates, noooooooooo sir. Camping at system jump/entry points. Hmmm... lost a ship due to one while doing a mission. I have a question for you campers with huge negative rating: Don't you get shot by guns at the gates when you try to leave the system? Or do guns just react to violence acts?
Anyway, people watch out, don't go to toilet while passing trough 0.4 an lower with your autopilot on since the campers are back!!! (Sniff, I came back just in time to self destruct my scramled pod, snif)
Toiltepodded you may say ______

0.4 sec space was never considered save
camping at entry points is "in" for quite a while now. Example: tankCEO at Sarum prime
goin to toilet while warping in/trough 0.4 is .. well ... sh*t happens ***********************************************

I've been living in < 0.4 space for months, never had a problem.
Then again... the Campers would need to go through a lot of Empire Space first before they get to my corner of Metropolis.

Jumping into systems at the same point was the most stupid thing to have been added to this game yet.
It needs to be sorted out as soon as possible.

I fail to understand why blockading is getting mixed it up with camping? They aren't pitching tents and sitting around a camp fire? Thier just not allowing you to pass with out a fight or toll ,AND, its not just up to the NPC's to keep the trade lines open in Eve, it is also up to the players The lag though encountered when warping into such a situation does suck. __________________________________________

You do have an excellent point Hodokie. Unfortunately, it is camping. Player Killer camping to be precise. There is no negotiating, they sit and wait and start shooting when anyone shows up. Although, once I was asked to disclose my cargo, or be destroyed. I told them, even offered to jettison it. But I was killed anyway. AND in an INDY.
But like Serge said "Sh*t happens"

CCP definitely needs to change the fact that people always jump into the same location. I wouldn't be opposed to it except that becuase of the time it takes to load the system you will most likely be dead before you can do anything. I don't blame the pirates for taking advantage of this game flaw, but CCP needs to do something about it ASAP because under certain conditions there is absolutely nothing you can do. People complained a lot about gate campers in the past, but as far as lag is concerned, camping the jump in location is much worse.
It is also very lame that the Police will sit at the jump in point. This makes it so that players with negative security ratings cannot get through Empire space even with a MWD. It's fine if they make it impossible for neg sec players to do anything in empire space, but if your moving fast, you should atleast be able to fly through.

Don't worry guys and gals it will all be fixed soon. The gate to gate jumping will most likely make the next major patch, at least thats what I understood from the CSM log, so no more hitting at jump in points.
Im not saying people are wrong to do it, heck if I was a pirate I would do it myself, but the fact remains that CCP never intended it to happen. The jump in locations has never worked the way they have wanted.
The way CCP wants it, always has wanted this just couldn't do it for some reason, is to jump in at the gate leading back to where you jumped from. Hence the term, gate to gate jumping. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

i dont know about the rest of you but i am getting alittle tired of paying to beta test a game...with all the CCP didnt intend for this to happen or CCP still does not have it the way they wanted. First thing you all might not be thinking about. Is that if you make the jump in random, people that use bookmarks at gates for speedy travel will be screwed. I think this is a large number of people since pirates hate the tactic so much. So it might help in empire space but will ruin your day in 0.0 space. And lastly I actually feel sorry for pvpers because they had to resort to such a lame tactic. Not only does it suck for the person they kill but for them as well. You cant tell me its fun to kill someone that cant even see you much less fight back. Well maybe it would be fun the first few times but not if you play pvper for the challenge.

Oooooooh how wrong you are! It's not about PVP for them, it's about killing. Why else would they attack frigates and indys with battleships? Lame, camping, exploiting killers, that is what they are. And every time as some of them start talking about about roleplaying it makes me sick. ______

MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer Online ROLE PLAYING Game
I dislike these gate blockers as well, I mean being shot in a shuttle by a cruiser for sport is not fun, BUT, it is a factor in the game. Uber Bad Guys/Gals exist, there for, Uber Good Guys/Gals need to show up to protect the law obiding citizens of Eve, and if you don't like the Role Playing, go play BF1942.

Unless you can prove they are seriouly exploiting, STFU. PVP is part of the game, killing the innocent is just something that happens. Deal with it.

STFU? Why? Becouse I don't think that PVP is killing unarmed traders? If that is PVP for you then you have a serious problem mate. You pirates have found about 1000 lame excuses for your urge to kill weaker. And you are chicken too. I just passed trough a system where two pirates in BS fled from few cruisers and one BS. PVP? Chicken lame lazy yellow killer campers. ______

I've seen first-hand from both sides what kind of lag can be created when 20 players wait at a jumpin point, all with drones out - and I have cable too.

Quite honestly if you've ever read/watched any type of science fiction which includes "space pirates", you'll see that they don't go out engaging in honorable battles with fleets of anti-pirate forces, they attack unarmed traders
Sure, it's not pvp persay, but it is pirating.

In the place of pirates I wouldn't worryabout not being able to blockade gates for loot or extorting money. There will be much more to do for them when mining and production platforms come out, that will be placed in or in the close vincinity of belts. With those they will have the possibility to good pvp-fights and intertesting loot too. Sure there will be sentries but those are player owned, can be destroyed and don't respawn. I think we will see a lot more group battles and interesting strategies with these elements.
So everybody chill out. Battles might become a bit more interesting :)

Well said Ivano
this is just another typical Carebear thread about PvP.
Pirates do not go around looking to kill ppl, they will take the easy quick buck over hours of working, what ppl need to do, is actualy form an active PKK corp and actually shut us down, but then that actually takes abit of thinking.

no my friend, dont we all play the game on the same type of connection .
Doesnt matter if you have 8mb adsl, you will still get lagged, like the peson using a 56k modem..
This works, because like most FPS games that are played online, its usually the person with the fastest connection that wins.
This way, players dont have an advantage because of how quick their connection is.

Edited by: TIvian on 29/09/2003 18:00:55 Didn't matter what connection you had in Asheron's Call. The server side connection was ALWAYS 28.8kb. yep thats right! 28.8kb the lag came from machine or graphics on client side although there was a hack or exploit that PKers used for a while that caused major bandwidth suck in the area that they ran in. most server side connections are low in MMORPGs its not like first person shooters
The only reason you would want a dedicated connection like cable or dsl is to avoid disconnects like you get with phone Modems.
