Quote:
Buy Your EVE ISK Safely!
For your account security, we highly recommend using " ESCROW" if you're buying ISK more than 500 million at a time from us.
procedure:
1. Put up an escrow for the amount you're buying with a low value item to all player. For example: if you have bought 600 million isk, then you will need to set a 1 day escrow with 1 unit Tirtanium for 600mil price. If you don't know how to use escrow, please read 4. 2. That way in case CCP asks the buyer, he can say that he was doing a scam on escrow, which is legal in game. 3.We will claim the escrow as soon as possible, so you get the ISK in 100% safe way. *4 How to set escrow? 1).get a cheap stuff in the station( usually 1 unit ore or material) 2).Choose "Missions" from station service menu, select "ESCROW" 3). Select "Enter items into escrow" 4).choose your current Station and item; and fill the options with following: Price = amount you orderd expire time = 1day, Pilot = None, you donĘt need to fill the option. 5.) click "Submit Contract"
And I hope the idiot who sent me the evemail gets ganked HARD!

Edited by: Nev Clavain on 13/06/2006 15:36:10 Blame CCP not the messenger.
They created the farcical escrow system. They were happy to allow it to degenerate into really nothing but a career path for brainless scammers (as opposed to intelligent scammers - who are far more interesting).
Blame CCP who did absolutely nothing but hand out waste of time responses to all their customers who got scammed because of laughable game mechanics they put in place.
Now CCP are getting bitten in the ass by their own lousy invention - GOOD, maybe there is such a thing as celestial justice after all. Maybe they'll finally sort out the utter ****pit that escrow is.
Now this might be going way too far aswell but...Maybe one day a CCP member will actually have to submit a petition themselves and endure the utter Bull**** response they get and something might happen there - like start by hiring someone who knows a first thing about customer care, or even general manners would be a start.
Other than that - nice game, thanks.

Yes, I bet 99% of all isk sellers did not knew this already and are using this very same technique. He just posted a until now not widespread at all trade secret. Really!

Contracts
Taking the current Escrow and Courier system to new heights. This replaces fully the Escrow and Courier system, adding more complex forms of contracts, with Reverse Escrow, Two-step Contracts, Auctions and so on. This opens up a whole new dimension for creating "missions" for your corp members, better manage outsourceing to trusted corporations and create alliance contracts - or missions, all of if leaving a nice paper trail which you can then measure performance from historically.
And maybe then all will be well. (Not likely, though)

the only thing to do is dro NPC corps altogether.
noob corp with a 2 week time limit.
if you leave a player cor or are fired, you go into a lone state, where you can be war-dec'd for a smaller fee. Then raise the war bill all around.
lone: 2mil ISK per week corp: 15mil per week alliance: 100mil per week

Simple filtering system for escrow would solve a lot of escrow problems (such as filter out names, items, search, etc), or perhaps allow us to sell more things on that REALLY GREAT market system that is used by practically nobody because you can't sell stuff like BPCs on it....

Read my post again, I criticise brainless scammers not all scammers. I've been scammed and I have also scammed people myself. Thing is, escrow system as it stands makes it far too easy to scam and get away with it. Brainless; risking absolutely nothing. 50% of escrow is just nonsense because of this. Escrow needs redesigning, and it is being redesigned.
Scamming should be what it is supposed to be - intelligent, tricky etc. Currently I don't think even 1% of escrow scams meet those criteria. At least put in some tools: like filters to enable the escrow-user to wade through the crap more effectively, cos I for one am bored of seeing page after page of the same person's dumb scam.

I'd suspect this sort of sale history is pretty traceable. If someone gets 'scammed' regularly for high amounts of isk then it's a good indication of what is going on.
Of course, if they use a different character/account each time they get 'scammed' it may be harder... but even then trial accounts shouldn't have 600 mil isk right off the bat to get 'scammed' with. Get your own set of jump clones for 15 million ISK! |

It's very very hard to weed out "smart" scams from "dumb" ones without a Human checking them, and it's an effort which shouldn't be made - it is, again, a matter of freedom.
And I first asked for escrow ignore what... 2 years ago? Long needed, but for other reasons too.

This just begs the question:
"If a legit player sets up the 'sells' for isk sellers, and manages to get isk sellers to give them the isk and not the actual buyer, is the scammer going to get a beatdown with the banstick?
I'd hope not since they aren't actually buying the isk, but at the same time, CCP can't be certain the person didnt buy it.

Quite frankly, you people are making me want to cancel my sub.
CCP should ban all of you from the forums for a day.
It is very simple, the Scam was NOT ingame.
Try scamming to sell a character in the forum and see if a GM will intervene and return the items to the victim.
You people are SICK. I mean, this fixation of scams is just plain weird. |

The rationale for THAT is that real life cash is involved in the transfer, etc. Which is...more understandable, and the action is by its nature OOC. The scam? IC.
And can I have your stuff?

Just because I choose to defend the GM instead of attack them like the rest of you, I should quit the game?

Because you're chosing to defend a GM descision which flys in the face of everything CCP promotes about Eve. And you're making unsupported inferences about pure-ISK scams being against the rules ANYWHERE, as previously known.
