Hello,
I was in Oursulaert enjoying talking to some newer players in EVE and I had an idea (maybe its been done before I have not really looked).
I would like to do an easter egg hunt for new players only (I'm thinking no older than 3 months) with the prize being a Battleship of choice plus (T1) fittings and money for insurance.
I am wondering if anyone would like to sponsor this effort with me. Your corp could potentially use it as a recruitment drive or something. Anyway, feel free to post or eve-mail me if your interested. It shouldn't cost all that much so even a little may go a long way.

Make a lot of smaller prices, cruisers or so, it'll end up helping more people.

Yes, cruisers or maybe BCs are a much better idea. Giving new players a BS that they may not even be able properly to insure is just asking for trouble later on when they start complaining how they lost it to NPCs in 0.6 space.
Give them something they can really take advantage of and have fun with, not something that should sit in their hangars for a few months gathering dust while they train the skills to use it.
Note - I'm not saying no one will be able to use a BS at 3 months, though it's a bit young, but if you were a week old, what would you do with a BS you couldn't even transport to a station?

Fair comments for sure. So the suggestion is a Battlecruiser of choice and have several prizes. |

a set of level 2 imps would be nice too maybe.

Love the idea just make sure theres a minimum age so no unscrupulous types take adavtage. Full set of +2's (5) to add if you get it all running and happy to help at the event if needed.

i could donate a few cruisers here and there...
as i can see there are enough willing ppl for this, now an outline plan should me made on how the egg hunt would be? i am sure there are plenty of ppl willing to sponsor such thing
now just gota find a way on what the event would actually be about

A donation of 10mil will be made from TRA (we're too small for more than that unfrotunately)

Actually could ask the events team to let you lose in jove space for it. Whatever you do youll want to keep the arse hats away as I believe theres now even special rules regarding events as theres always some who would like to spoil it.
Regarding the event itself would be really nice if the community could dream up the idea and plan it though. CCP do theyre own events this ones been started by a player and it would be unique and extra special if it could be from the eve community to the eve community.

1)have judges placed at/in certain key systems, systems that are worth visiting, like Nakugard near heck that has those station like in "deadspace". Make a race and follow them as they go. Those with faster ships, better ABs, a bit of skill more will make haste adn from those you will have 1 winner.
2)have another competition the next day and so on untill you reach 4 days. (maybe do not allow the previous winner to win again) and in the 5th day something to determine an overall winner.
Or just a 2day competition, sat and sun...
Once you have a complete plan and everything am sure you could get an eve-radio dj to advertise for free (at least I hope so).

Perhaps next year or in the future alliances could shake hands and put somethin together for XMass or something.

Valiant Logistics Inc. will sponsor this event as well bro. Just let me know what you need and we will hook it up. As it stands we can donate any cruisers, battle cruisers or even a battleship if you need. We might also be to donate an assault frig or two.
Mods can you make this a sticky so it stays on the front page for all to see...I think this is an outstanding idea for newer players in the game to have some fun and for the older players to show that we are about helping the community out.

one of doing it would be to litter a area with small cans the cans can hold things such as +1 implants and other nice mods for new players and contain BPCs for ships that can be turned into the promotors of the egg hunt for a that ship.
The cans should be setup in a safe spot in that system spread all over the grid and maybe put a few real nice mods or something just off grid so they really have to look for them.
oh and just to make it "challanging" make it in .4 and allow only ibis's with a rule of anything goes. should make for an entertaining video

Wow I never expected it to generate this much interest. I am quite amazed.
I would certainly welcome ANY help I can get in setting up the event in addition to the generous offers for prizes. You do not need to be a sponsor to help out.
Please do not send any more money until we have figured out exactly how the contest will run. Those who have sent money, I have written you down, so if for some reason this thing doesn't get off the ground, it will be returned.
Here are some thoughts on some rules and prizes, please feel free to make some suggestions:
 No characters older than 3 months can compete
There would be one grand prize of a ship (probably a battlecruiser) or perhaps several ships, the +2 implants set, and some cash.
There would be numerous "runner up" prizes to include Battlecruisers and some smaller amounts of money
Some "Bronze" prizes of Cruisers, Frigates, or Gear as available.
Two primary suggestions so far:
Easter Egg Hunt:
Advantage: Can be done in Empire space and the contestants will be safe.
Disadvantage: Not as fun as hunting something down, and a lot of flying and a little more logistical work (can emplacement and development of the clues)
Rabbit Hunt:
Advantage: More fun, and would go quickly and can be spectated.
Disadvantage: Unsecure space would be required and that brings the probability of unwanted "spectators". 
So let me talk to some of the folks who have offered to help out, and you guys can offer some ideas on how to implement one of the above. |

I tihnk their should be multiple cheap prizes, like cruisers.
I dont think its a good idea to rushcharacters under 3 months old into a battleship. They wont have enough skills to use it well (tanking, gunnery, ect..) and they will go into combat thinking they will pwn anything and end up dying.
Cruisers will be cheaper and you will be able to hand out multiple cruisers.

You are right, I think the consensus (sic?) thus far is that Battlecruisers will be the "biggest" ship for a prize. |
