I think the stream would be a really cool idea. However I can guarantee that I'd end up having to work at least half the live coverage. Some way to download the event footage afterwards would be totally awesome.

And can we please have capable commentators?
Not like in the last championship "And the ship in the left starts shoting at the frigate" or not even knowing the ship type. "The caracal does not have such a good traking does it".
Not to mention so many "There are some explosions there, somebody is taking fire".
I mean please, find somebody that actualy knows how to manuvre the camera and know the game.

I like the idea of being able to see the event. But why does it have to be live video?
Why don't CCP create a bunch of "event eyes" characters, and let people login into them to see the action? Have those characters be controlled by CCP people, but send all data to player as tho his character was there. Players could chat and control camera position/zoom as usual, but can't control movement of the "eye" ship.
If you do something like that, anyone could see what's going on at no extra cost of bandwidth

All the broadcasts so far I wasn't able to watch or listen to live  so I'm fairly certain I won't be able to watch the Tournament live this time either.
I did immensely enjoy listening to some of those very good commentators from EVE radio, really, trying to figure what's going on from a third person point of view, very good work.
Oh and some of those first-person point of view vids rocked.
So would I pay up for good quality live feeds? If I thought I could meet the schedule, probably yes, but since I doubt that's gonna happen, I'll have to vote "no".

You want us to pay for Voice Comms when there are free versions out there, and from the sound of it much better then what your offering.

Pay per view... this i'm 1/2 supporting, yes i'll pay to watch it BUT there has to be more to it then just higher detail in the video. free in game goodies or a discount in the EVE Store?

I was going to suggest the same thing but you beat me too it.
Stream it out in low quality and then upload a high quality bit-torrent for download later.
That solves all the timezone, bandwidth, and cost issues. :)

high quality and edited videos for download after the event would be best from my point of view. i donŠt want to pay money for live streams and it is anyway unlikely that my volume-limited internet connection could bear the additional traffic

I wouldn't pay $8-$12 for a high quality stream, seems alot. $3-$5 wold be my max.
Med quality free stream with some sponser links and high quality torrent downloads would be the perfect compromise imho.

Might be interested in paying if production qualities were good.
I.e. not just a dodgy cam trying to keeping up with the action, but well framed shots, presenting a variety of information and angles with informative and intelligent commentary.

1. I wouldn't pay for the high quality video stream, I've never found I got my money's worth for these kinds of things.

Is there no way to use the eve-client to view matches, (think HLTV), that way the quality would be perfect for all, and cheap!

I'd pay for it with ISK ... but CCP does not want these because they can make their own by clicking a button (how is THAT for unfair ...).
Hence, in no particular order:
- I second the "free stream" option.
- I second the "better quality by bittorrent, still free" option
- I second boobies.

Personally i'd watch the earlier rounds on the low quality stream. Then if the commentary,interviews,etc were good then I would pay to see the later rounds in high quality.
