What if you came from a TT like Traveler and your favorite profession was courier or smuggler? What if the point of those professions was to avoid conflict? People throw around sandbox as long as they can control the color of the sand. Everyone should be able to undock and play the game they want, if this is truly a sandbox. I second this.. you should be able to do what you want in a game you paying to play and not everyone wants to pvp all the time. But if you not happy with this sandbox.. go find another one, that is how people show dissatisfaction, with their feet and their wallets. I used to enjoy the occasional lazy day of mining, but thanks to CCP's support of bullying, griefing etc it is no longer possible, so to follow what I said earlier I have cancelled 5 subs to go and do it elsewhere. I still enjoy eve.. just a lot less as my choices are now restricted. I am not mad, angry or anything else.. I have just chosen to spend my cash on something I can enjoy when I don't want to be harassed and I am pretty sure I am not the only one.. but CCP have from me lost $75 pm for possibly ever for the sake of how they choose to run their sandbox.. its business.. its their business.. YOU have a choice.. make it and move on.
"What if the point of those professions was to avoid conflict? " Hey, guess what, we have professions like that. They're called mining or hauling or industry or trade. The point is to avoid pvp. That doesn't mean other players have to let you do so. There's a reason the ships used for these aren't strong combat ships. If you and to participate in anything in eve that involves avoiding pvp, then LEARN TO AVOID PVP. Don't come whine to us on the forums because its too hard to hit d-scan, work with others for scouts, or use the mwd-cloak trick.

There has been many a great point in this thread. I think everybody to their own way is correct. I think the OP is correct in thinking the PVE is crap and it hits a pretty bad dead end (not a secret). Those that tell him to explore other parts of the game are also correct.
Maybe by design the rest of the PVE is crap, to push PVP even more on pilots? |

Your CEO spent most of his time on NPC corps, which makes me think he is either someone's alt, or someone who hasn't played in a very long time. There is the off chance that he might be a legitimate NPC dweller, but still......
Furthermore, 6 of the toons in corp are all most likely the same person.
Also, PVE is boring as hell. WH PVE is boring as hell. It is very lucrative, don't get me wrong, but it is boring. Join Brave Newbies or RvB. I've personally had a few run ins with both groups, and I had fun. This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165 |

EvE is a PvP game. Player Vs Patience.
You need PATIENCE in every aspect, from skill learning to figuring out PI to sitting out war decs.
Obviously i'm posting on an alt, as these kinds of posts rile most of the griefers and Player vs Players..
But here's my take. Personally I don't play EVE for the Player Vs Player stuff. That is what other people do in the game. We have a corp of approx 6 people that play EvE loosely, meaning, we play when we want to play, and have several other games we equally enjoy.
Recently, we were wardecced just like the OP, and we had a corp meeting and decided to a) disband the corp and immediately recreate it, or, b) simply vanish for the duration of the DEC. We couldn't be assed to disband, too much cba involved. So we logged off our mains, and spied on the deccers. They knew us well, and there was approx 10 of them in our system at all times. To be fair we never heard of them before, or hadn't taken any notice of them.. anyway.. cut a long story short, we logged off for a week and played something else, and came back, and they had extended it, so we logged off for another week, and came back.. some had to log on to re queue skills, but we never gave them what they wanted. After the second week, they vanished and we came back. So really no skin off our nose, we just adapt. Also, we met up a few times during the weeks for beers and a laugh outside of the game, most likely when the deccers were still in pixel ships waiting for a non emergent corp to surface, whilst we enjoyed our steak and drinks in a beer garden.
Anyway I digress. Player Vs Patience. Patience is a virtue. EvE IS a PvP game after all... and dont be bullied in to Player Vs Player if that's not your game. Play the sandbox how you like, and have something on standby when EvE falls short of what you need. Everyone goes back to EvE, it has a charm, has it's flaws, but, has equal charm that makes it a great hobby.

I'm skipping ahead since its to hard to read right now.
The reason they are telling you to hide during the wardec is because you are outnumbered and they do not want you do die... wich you will in this case. The problem is that they should be trying to form a small fleet of people that either know what they are doing or know how to listen so you can attack smaller groups of the corp that wardecced you. and get some kills. There are always that small group of people that but themselves up as a target, the problem is that your corp is probably afriad that you are the same. At least that would be the case if they are worth a damn.
If you are going to be in a smaller corp, turning tail and regrouping during wardecs is just something you are going to have to learn to live with. The problem is that too many people decide to just hike and not regroup for strategic action.
As long as you play this game you have to come to terms with the fact someone that could kick your ass might want to fight you. The trick is that you need to learn how to deal damage where you can, some corps can do that while others cant. |

I see where you are coming from OP and you are kinda right. If you are playing the game expecting the game to provide the depth, it's not gonna happen.
Think of it a book. You have the characters, the plot, and so you read the story and you either don't like the story or you are entertained by the story.
This is like most MMOs where there is a plot and your character makes up the characters in it. You play and follow along as a story unfolds before you. Slowly bringing you to the end game.
With EVE, it's different. You open this book and all you see are pages. Empty pages. There is no plot. The other characters are all other players. It's up to you to write your own story.
Think of the plot as being the depth that you speak of. Other games provide the depth but for EVE, the depth doesn't come from the game but rather from the players themselves.
Edit:

Chewytowel Haklar wrote:So I've done career agent missions, worked my way up to level 3 security missions, done distribution missions, improved my standings with Caldari State.... Let me ask you guys a question first off...what the heck is the point of doing a courier mission when millions are required in collateral and they only pay a couple hundred thousand? Why should I even waste my time with these lol. I ask this cause I figure I would try these types of objectives to see if it is interesting and nope...just boring. The corp I am in got wardec'd by some guy looking for easy kills and that just meant we had to play possum cause none of us had a chance to take the dude out. Is pvp really so scarce that people literally have to wardec or pvp roam just to find some action? I've been with players who can do security level 4 and make tons of isk off of these and yet I see no real point to these tedious and boring type of gameplay. I've tried to get into the pvp side a little bit but as a new player I get destroyed... I don't know...I was hoping this game had more depth, but all it seems to have is timers attached to skills that take weeks/months/years to train for just so you can hopefully have some fun in this game. I read that some chick online decided to become a pirate and managed to go out and see several big battles...yeah I haven't seen anything at all like that lol. Every single way I look in this game something is going to take me a ton of time to do, or perhaps I just lack imagination. But bounty hunting is pointless as you only get 20% of the worth of the ship and yeah that stinks... Living in WH space isn't possible as I have no idea how to survive sleepers or the onslaught of those who make billions hunting others down. Perhaps I just want pve content that guides me and I am too used to that... But where is the action in this game?
If it was just one dude, just use the CFC approach, it tends to work with low sp characters and lack of FCs. Just get in destroyers and keep coming at him. dont stop. you will eventually kill him and it will be fun. If you dont end up killing him, just start a threadnaught about how something on his ship was broke and ask CCP to change it. I am sure these will come in handy.

yea the op kinda does have a point in his title. where he has clearly not done EVERYTHING in EVE. I pretty much have after 10 years and yea the create your own content thing is kinda dull now. it's very repetitive even in the end game. And the biggest lie about EVE i find now is the "ok build your own empire and take space thing" its a myth. not the build your alliance part. but defiantly the unwriten part where your alliance has to be big enough and have enough political weight to do anything part.
Mainly because the truly powerful EVE alliances are actually NOT Eve alliance but rather multigame community's. That have resources far beyond what any EVE only alliance could dream off.
EVE is gret a but it's by no means anything like it's trailers. In fact it's barely and internet spaceship game. beyond the kinda token fact the things we control kinda look spaceship like and the background has stars and the odd nebula. If you actually think about it we are kinda actually just playing a game very similar to things like WOW or LOL. we have choke points. Dungeons, healers, tanks, damage dealers. remote buffers A fast travel system.
There is actually very little spacey about the game play. Personally my biggest grievance with the EVE game and the EVE trailers is that one shows fleets of all different ships brawling and in reality all we do is sit in giant gangs of 1 ship type and shoot a primary then another primary.
EVE is what it is but it's by no means what it claims to be in any of the trailers. You may disagree but Honestly your kidding yourself if you think I am wrong because A. you have just not played as much EVE as I have or will and B. SHUTUP. |

1. Define "spacey". 2. I have never seen a doctrine, ever, that consisted of one ship type. In fact, GSF's main fleet doctrine right now consists of more damned ship types than I have fingers. |

it takes almost no time, no upfront investment and no risk to steal, kill and wreak havoc. if you can't afford a single ship for this, then buy a plex and sell it, you'll have way more than enough isk to find your feet as a criminal. it's 15 bucks - eve is worth 15 bucks.

@OP
As i perceive it: In eve, pve exists to provide fuel for pvp and in its turn pvp as a result provides sources for pve. This happens primarily from player to player interaction. Its a basic circle and you can only be part of it if you can get outside your comfort zone.
I'll agree with you that scripted content in eve is pretty boring. Realizing this is the first step to getting out there and creating your own content
