From what I hear the Kali expansion is all about some new 0.0 area opening up, Tier 2 battlecruisers, and Tier 3 Battleships. It really doesnt sound like new players will be getting New content.
Most of the Mega Uber super powered corps who control all of the good Eve space are going to fight for the new turf and to the victor will be the spoils.

Tier 3 <> tech 2
Those ships will just be another tech1 ship, and so hopefully will be seeded in the same way (ie - npc available blueprints)

Don't read it wrong. Those new tiers of ships are actually technology level 1 and as such rather friendly on both wallet and SP requirement. Granted EVE is a long term game, of course.
A lot of the Kali content is made to create incentive to explore EVE, as well as new functionality. Additionally, the invention system makes up the gap between the T2 BPO rich versus the rest a bit more.
CCP is doing the balance between introducing more content for those who've already done it all, as well as content for those who are just new to the game - however, those new to the game has everything new, do they not? New sig coming soonÖ By "soon" I do not necessarily mean "this year" |

Im talking about the new space thats opening up that is in 0.0 where all the super powers are talking about going to. Thats not ment for new players.
Besides new players are not going to be jumping into tier 3 battleships either even if they are just tech 1.

When has 0.0 ever been meant for new players anyway?
The way I see it, Kali is geared toward the average player, i.e. most of the population of the game. Not vets, not total newbies, just that really large percentage of people in the middle. --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!

Well, you can't really expect the whole thing to be made specifically for new players, can you? Ok, so some of the new features aren't going to be immediately accessible for new players, but others will be. for example (from Pesadel0's link):
"Rookie - A COSMOS & NPE Project
A number of COSMOS constellations in Empire which focus on the first steps of a players life, preparing him for the open-ended EVE universe."
------------
"Seamless Map - Combat Organization Project
We want to intergrate the full map with the pilots view and zoomed out tactical view, adding the 3-d solar-system view, up to the new map view, all in one seamless zoom. We then tie into this the Activity map, the new Exploration and improved System scanning which is then fully 3-d."
------------
"Exploration
Utilizing the Improved System Scanning and Seamless Map to enable exploration for various hidden locations in the EVE universe such as normal encounters, Deadspace and Gas Clouds. Includes "Escalating Paths" which allows you to find further bookmarks to hidden locations, where the encounters and rewards escalate. Features locations for Archeology, Hacking, Gas Cloud Harvesting and Salvaging in addition to general encounters."
-----------
There's plenty of stuff aimed at either new players or all players, and I'm sure before long we will see month old players with tier 3 battleships as well. ---------------------------

Those new areas are located in the east of EVE. That region has been a traditional CF area for EVE for as long as EVE has existed. How it will change now that there's going to be more than just one hot-spot region will be interesting. What is certain, however, is that it's going to allow for more people to get out into 0.0, and that always stir up trouble. No, it's not for the new people. It's for the consolidated people. You need to be a group, whether you are new or not does not matter. This is high-level content of EVE - which is distinct from the old "new versus old player". High-level content means that it more or less requires you to be on edge and cooperating with other people. It takes cunning and more than just yourself.
As for the tier 3 battleships and not for new players. Do you truely wish that all of EVE's content should be readily available for characters of less than 3 months? Explore EVE first. Take the steps. It's not new and novel to be in a destroyer for anyone but you. Someone's done it before you. But then again, if you were able to be in one of those new battleships immidiatly, that would also mean that everyone else would, would it not?
No, this isn't content for the "old guys". This is content for you. I hope you stick around long enough that you can use these new features to their fullest. New sig coming soonÖ By "soon" I do not necessarily mean "this year" |

It amazes me that you think new players are getting the shaft on content in KALI.
But then again, this unfounded fear comes up right before every major content update.
I say sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. No point in worrying about it now.
It's still way too early to start casting stones at Kali.

Seeing as you should ahve the isk and SP easily withing a month or two to fly a tier 2 battlecruiser, I don't see whats wrong. Unless you consider 2 month old players old? And dont you hate it when people make their signature look like part of their post? |

Come on lets face it all of the new areas opening up are designed for players who are not Newbies. some changes are made for all players but im talking about New Newbie Content something I can take over to my friends house and show him so he will get interested in the game and buy into it. Showing him New stuff that he wont be able to experience for months isnt going to cut it.

for someone who doesn't play, how does the age of the content matter?
fun stuff you can have acess to in a week is such wether the stuff has been around for 3 years or 3 days.
theres only a difference once you have been around a while.

as a new player how you have enough to skill/learn/grind before you can use advanced stuff anyways. There is soooo much newbie stuff in eve, I think it should make all newbies busy for a year

meh, if a player is not skilled enough to fly a tier 3 BS or tier 2 BC, then honestly, thereis already enough content for them to look frward too that they don;t need anymore.

You can be certain it won't be anything special. Expect something like Battlecruisers 2-3 and racial battleship 3-4, nothing more. Those are tech 1 ships we're talking about.
Usually the number after "tier" denotes the skill level required (e.g. tier 3 cruisers = cruisers that require racial cruiser level 3) so following that logic I expect the tier 2 battlecruisers will require the Battlecruiser skill at level 2 and the tier 3 battleships will require racial battleship at level 3... --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!
