Im confused. Not that there isn't stuff for younger players coming out in Kali, but isn't stuff for experianced characters ALSO stuff for new characters....as new characters become experianced characters over time.
Stuff just for new characters isnt always stuff for experianced characters, so thats a very selfish demand to make.
Either way, the voices in my head tell me your just plain wrong ________________ What you do is you store up the rage, let it fester while you gain strength, then use it to gank those weaker than you... and so the circle of life is complete |

Strictly speaking, even the old content is new content to new players.

Originally by: Mearexx Im talking about the new space thats opening up that is in 0.0 where all the super powers are talking about going to. Thats not ment for new players.
Besides new players are not going to be jumping into tier 3 battleships either even if they are just tech 1.[/quote
You have been given several months warning that they are coming.
More than enough time for one motivated noob to gather a whole swarm of his frigate buddies and grab emselves a slice of the sky.
OH and to the OP: By the time Kali is released you wont be a new player anymore...cheer up.

If Kali deployment would go down smooth it would screw up tradition. Just expect months of whinage, ****ed up NPC and tons of bugs. Three times over since Kali comes in 3 easy(tm) upgrades.
Still in the end when the rabbling has settled its gonna be fun. Adapt, rinse and repeat.
Advantage for the vets? Of course! Because they are the ones with the dough and relevant skill to train up fast and get down to the cool new stuff. But if you plan ahead you'll be short behind from them.

True but since they scraped the planetary fights in Kali feature it all sounds alot more likly to actaully be ready before i die. But i quite enjoy all these reguarly patches changing things, not exactly great for the downtime but its nice to have a new aspect to the game every month.
I wish they would leak some stats about the ships really, i remember planning months in advance how pwnage a dual AB sacrilige was gonna be if not entirely invulnurble :P Shame then they took out dual propulsion modules.
On a note about the new regions just becoming new alliance zones... well anyone who thinks that every 0.0 entrance is camped 24/7 is very very wrong. Most of 0.0 is already empty once you get outa the chokepoint. Long before i joined BOB i was always npcing in their best system in delve.... the truth is if ure careful with local and scout then there is pretty much no risk with doing operations in enemy 0.0 . New players dont really understand the games entierty so its very easy to think of alliances as these super duper well organised groups. In reality there not its just corps bound together with a little organisation and a common goal. Mainline autopilot routes are generally camped but i have to say nowadays i feel alot happier about taking an indy through 30 0.0 jumps then through jita :p.
New regions should hopefully mean more bloody complex's and more hunting ground.

Originally by: Mearexx From what I hear the Kali expansion is all about some new 0.0 area opening up, Tier 2 battlecruisers, and Tier 3 Battleships. It really doesnt sound like new players will be getting New content.
Most of the Mega Uber super powered corps who control all of the good Eve space are going to fight for the new turf and to the victor will be the spoils.
For a new player all content is new content

So then in answer to the OP, and by definition apparently: yes, the new content is for older characters.

Why do new players need new content? they don't.
Deal with it and move on.

No, contracts (for instance) is for new players too.
New regions opening up. New players excluded? I think not.
And so on...

Originally by: Mearexx Come on lets face it all of the new areas opening up are designed for players who are not Newbies. some changes are made for all players but im talking about New Newbie Content something I can take over to my friends house and show him so he will get interested in the game and buy into it. Showing him New stuff that he wont be able to experience for months isnt going to cut it.

To throw some oil into fire:
By the time you get throught the current "newbie" content you'll already be a "veteran".
So, I ask you, why the lamentations?

Edited by: Athren Soulsteal on 10/07/2006 18:28:16 To answer the OP, this is what Kali will bring and some estimated requirements.
Contracts Will be available to everyone new or old but most likley not trial accounts.
Trinity Upgrades This is a graphics up grade to anyone that has the video card that can support it.
Hacking Improvements This is geared to vets because to train in hacking requires that you have trained up in other skills. Depending on your attributes you may be able to train in hacking in a month but realistically you need to train other survival skills first so a would estimate 4-6 months to get hacking.
Archeology Improvements Again the requirements of sub skills puts this to 4-6 months of training all the other survival skills. Modifications or Modding This one is being kicked around and may also be grouped by rigging, invention, prototyping and other keywords the Devs have used. In any case if it follows normal time sink patterns it will require at least Science lvl 5, engineering lvl 5, science lvl 5 and industry lvl 5 and perhaps metallurgy lvl 5 before you can start to train the modding skill. So 4-6 months, yup for vets.
Factional Warfare This little fun gem could actually be better for new players than for vets because new players have not managed to PO that many races (yet). Or if implemented badly will make whole regions no fly zones for new players because they have not managed to get a +rating.
Next-Gen Research & Development Reverse Engineering is the EVE version of DNF vaporware, well if you have not started maxing ALL the science skills from metallurgy, rocket science to starship command then you will not be able to train this baby till youÆre at least a 1-2 year vet. Actually if you were to train nothing but science skill and had a benefactor to give you all the skills and run the missions to get the special dropped skills (such as Amarr starship engineering) and you never trained any other skills then you could maybe train up in 8-12 months.
Salvaging - New Mini-Profession The sub skill requirements put this skill in the 5-8 month range.
Gas Cloud Harvesting - New Mini-Profession Look at how long it will take you to get to barge lvl 5 and add in time similar to training ice mining and hacking. So if you were to dedicate your skills to nothing but ôminingö skills then at first glance it would look like it could be done in a few months. The question is, are you going to be able to mine the gas clouds in empire space or only the ones in 0.0 cosmos? If the latter, then add in the time to train survival skills for 0.0 space.
Rookie - A COSMOS & NPE Project The name says it all.
Seamless Map - Combat Organization Project Eye candy, for all players.
Improved System Scanning - Combat Organization Project All players.
New Gang System - Combat Organization Project All players.
Combat Boosters - A COSMOS project In order to create these drugs you do have to have sub skills trained so I would estimate 4-6 months.
Exploration The sub skills required also push this to at least 4 months but there is not enough information on the required skill sets so I is possible that a new player could train Exploration after 2 months if the had a benefactor providing the skill books and ships.
Tier-3 Battleships To fly and to have the skills to survive are two different issues. Really new players would be wise to train all the fighting/starship command skills up first. 3-4 months.
Tier-2 Battlecruiser same as battleships, if you in to much of a hurry you would be ahead in isk if you just took 30mil and sent it to some random player than to try and jump into a T2BC too soon.
Keep in mind that CCP uses sub skills as time sinks to prevent players from getting to endgame too soon. If you look at the sub skill requirements of flying BC the look at the new skills, well you can expect to have to max out at least 5 sub skills which may require that 5 other subskill be maxed also.

I sure hope they do something to improve scanning. Allowing a couple resonably skilled players using scanners to break safe spots would really open up the game.

Actually probes do that now, well almost. They are fixing probes(according to the blogs) so that you only need 1 instead of 3.
Personally I was dissappointed the first time I used a probe. I expected something like a missle going out and sending back telementry (like in any good Scifi movie) instead of the jetcan anticlimax of current probes.
