To be honest i think to many people get carried away with the uber most up to date must have ships.... the best fun in pvp I get is still tech 1 cruisers if you fit them right and fly with a few corp mates you can have as much fun as someone in a tech 2 high skilled monster.

Quite possibly +40% to +50% of tier 2. It depends on what race, etc. New sig coming soonÖ By "soon" I do not necessarily mean "this year" |

Originally by: Contralto a bit off topic, but any thoughts on Tier 3 ship and bpo prices?
Looking at the price progression for ALL other Tech 1 Blue Prints and ships in game, it is likely that the Tier 3 Battleship BPO will cost about 1,500,000,000 and that to build a Tier 3 Battleship will cost about 125,000,000 (not including what is added by the seller for profit).
However, I would not be even slightly surprised if the above prices are inflated a little by CCP. I fully expect the first tier 3 Battleships that hit the market to be VASTLY inflated on price.

Im talking about the new space thats opening up that is in 0.0 where all the super powers are talking about going to. Thats not ment for new players.
Besides new players are not going to be jumping into tier 3 battleships either even if they are just tech 1.
Says who? The only thing stopping a new player from venturing into 0.0 is cowardice, and/or not being willing to join a group out there.
And I've seen 3 month old chars flying Battleships before. They don't use them very well, but they're still flying them.
After learning skills are dont you could be in a tier 3 battleship in maybe 2 weeks, provided you took frig IV at creation.

New players shouldn't fret about new content. I've been playing for nearly a year and there's still tons of "old" content I haven't taken advantage of yet. Heck, I just made my first jump clone last night!

Truly new players don't need new content because everything is new to them. Mature players (by my definiion 6 months+) have as much chance and ability to make use of the new areas as anyone else.
Eve is already complicated enough without giving noobs even more to worry about. What CCP need is to keep the vets interested and I think opening new areas is a good move. -- (Battle hardened miner)

I was thinking Tier III Bs's might take Advanced Spaceship Command myself, simply because they may be intended to be the stepping stone between BS's and Capitals. Much the same way BS is meant to be a stepping stone between Cruiser and BS.
Of course there isn't really much about a BC that is really part of flying a BS... It's more like just a bigger more complicated cruiser.
So I humbly submit that my speculation about Tier III BS's needing advanced starship command could be totaly wrong.

I fail to see the concerns about newbies. You're only new to the game for a short amount of time, in my opinion Eve is end-game after 1,5 months. From there on, it is all about what YOU want to do, you're not limited by newbieness. Going to 0.0 after the tutorial might be tough, but a month or two into the game you're definately ready characterwise to LIVE and FEED off of 0.0 in an alliance corp. Experience wise you might not be ready, but experience is easy to get: Just ask and try. Many avoid 0.0 until they are almost a year into the game because they are scared, even though there's nothing to be scared of.
Eve doesn't hold hands, and it doesn't serve things for free, but what is more important is that Eve almost never limits you. You can do whatever the heck you want in this game, all you have to do is try. While other games says "You need to be level 40 to access this content", Eve says "This is gonna be rough, but sure =) ".
There's enough content for new players. There's many frigates and cruisers that you probably won't use after 2 months, and you'll probably never go back to level 1 and 2 agents once you have a battlecruiser or battleship.
Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not. |

To the OP:
The new ships are Tech 1 ships, so for as long as it takes to get into the existing battlecruisers and battleships now, it's probably an extra day or two of training. Certainly not a big deal for newbies.
The new 0.0 regions, again there's a fallacy here. Newbies can get into 0.0 space providing they really want to. All it takes is finding a newbie friendly corp that's already in 0.0. Take for example, EVE University corp. They specialize in exposing new players to the real meat of EVE. They only take players that are younger than 6 weeks, and teach them 0.0 and combat and whatever else they have in their curriculum. They even have a nice station out in 0.0 land, in a region that's protected (insofar as 0.0 is protected). So, definitely not a big deal here either.
The new salvaging etc. changes? Guess what? Those are gonna be new skills that no one has right now, so extremely level playing ground for all players, new and old.

Most of the Mega Uber super powered corps who control all of the good Eve space are going to fight for the new turf and to the victor will be the spoils.
Unless there is some very cool stuff in these new regions i cant see any established 0.0 corps claiming it, no stations, no market, no escrow, only pos fitting and refining, drone rats only?
I recon it will fill up with loads of small corps and pirates |

Why do new players ***** and moan every time a content patch comes around that there isn't any new content for them.
Here's news for you: You're new. EVERYTHING IN THE GAME IS NEW CONTENT FOR YOU!!!! (sorry about that)
Just think of it as something to work towards after you've been in the game a while. The devs don't need to release 20 new T1 frigs that do the same things as the rest of them every major patch in order for new players to have new things to do.
It'll take you a couple months just to make a scratch in all the things the game has to offer and to learn how to play it well. Then, thanks to all these content updates, you'll still have plenty of new things to look forward to.
PS - New missions do not equal stuff for new players either.

One thing ive always wondered, when WoW and stuff bring out new content (that they charge for) is it going to be a/ stuff for the level 1-10's to play with or b/ something to keep the level 60's busy.
I can guess, and my guess is not option A :P __________________________________

Originally by: Mearexx whine whine, oh noes this game is so unfair for new players more whining ...
Of course CCP will only release content that will benefit us older players. Why would they release new stuff for newer, lesser skilled players? What incentive could they possibly have to make sure more new players join this game? </sarcasm>
In all seriousness tho, there is SO MUCH to do in this game, that worrying about what us older guys fly/will fly is a bit premature ... Go out there, explore, be amazed by the extra things you can do with every new and larger ship you buy/get. And I would think it VERY likely that CCP will be doing stuff for all the newer guys as well. Already there are a crapload of ships out there that us older guys couldn't even imagine when we started. For us it was only shuttles, frigs, cruisers, battleships and industrials (those where the days). Now you have destroyers, assault frigs, interceptors, battlecruisers, heavy assault ships, covert ops ships, command ships, recon ships, 6 kinds of mining ships, dreads, carriers, motherships, logistics, interdictors ... must I go on to show you that there is so much more out now for older AND newer players alike? Besides the obviously large ones here, most new guys should be able to fly most of the above in 6/7 months tops. And once you do, you'll be flying the same stuff we are flying.
Another thing about content, what about all the missions and stuff? We only had missions without any Loyalty Points involved, we just got a bonus for finishing within the allocated time. Deadspace was an unknown (I remember the cool news item about the 'discovery' of the first deadspace pocket, it was about some young girl prodigy that found out about them), ice belts unheard of. Of every ore type there was only one, ie. you only had Veldspar, Scordite, you name it. Not the 3 variations per type you have today.
Now imagine yourself in one year, and there's all this new content coming out again, like planetary flight, more systems, whatever. How are you going to feel when the really new players start whining about the fact that all the new content is only geared towards the older players when you know how easy the new players have it by comparison?
So stop whining, get out there, play the game, get skilled. Without all that much training (relatively speaking of course, EVE is not a short term game) you can kick the ass of any older player if that's what you're concerned about.
PS. this is not meant for you personally, mr/mrs/whatever Mearexx. I hope more of the newer guys read this and understand what I said above... |

Aside from the new 0.0 regions and the creation of combat boosters, pretty much all of Kali's stuff will be for everyone. Salvaging, ship modding, the USE of combat boosters, tech 2 invention, contracts, corp improvements, gang improvements, seamless map, VOIP, new tech 1 ships, etc. It's not new player content but it's not old player content either. You can get into all that stuff either immediately or with a little skill training.
And anyway it's still possible for new players to be involved in the 0.0 stuff. It's not like when they added carriers and titans in RMR. THAT was high level content.

i'm a newbie and i can't care less, actually. there is enough material to keep me busy long enough, enough ships enough skills. if there is an update i'll be happy only because it will show me the continuity of the eve universe.

I always laugh when I see things like this.
I've spent most of my 8+ months in eve in 0.0 space. And you know what I see most often? Empty local channel. In the countless number of times I've run from empire to 0.0 I've only seen camps a handfull of times. And mostly in .4 slumpire, not 0.0 gateway systems.
Has anyone here ever seen a gate camp in G-M? Because that is one of the most used 0.0 gateways. It covers multiple routes and everyone in the north goes thru there any time they come down to empire. But I've never seen a camp there.
If you think 0.0 is all locked up, you aren't even looking. Sure, there are areas that are actually locked up, and there are gate camps on gateway systems often. But all it takes to get thru is an eve-mail and a couple million isk and you can buy yourself a pass from most of the major alliances.
Or, you could get a few buddies, and fly around a bit, you'll find an opening somewhere, and if it's near an NPC region, you can even dock and begin ops.
Despite what some empire carebears may think, most of 0.0 is totally empty. Most as in like 85%.

What's stopping you, anyways?
