quality here reflects boredom and the depth of the discussion - alliance sentry guns on complex in claimed systems for the win.

I think complexes should be removed all-in-all...
And yes I'm serious but I'll just shut up and sit in my corner again.
Oh and DS's idea is not new but it still gets my support. _______________________________

Well it looks to me like we have encountered a possible issue with these complexes in our space and unless we camp them ALL day with pilots then after 10 minutes these outside Alliance complexers have free run of Complexes in our space.
The OP came came up with an idea and it looks like certain folk are turning it into a personal issue with LV.
We encountered this issue and a possible idea was posted nothing more nothing less.
Do you by any chance have a personal interest in the isk making potentials of Complexes I ask myself?

Maybe, since its your complex it would be a good idea if you could package it.
This way if you cant protect it, just package it, put it in a freighter, transport it to jita and sell it on escrow

Oh WOE upon that... They can actually get isk from complexes too! And not just your alliance can milk it as much as you please.
That HAS to be changed. Indeed. I suggest that whenever single LV member arrives to any solarsystem every nonalliance player will lose control of their ship. They will undock and line up for killing. Hell, let's be generous, make it ACSN and BoB too, Huzzah could get that right as well so nobody can say there is some favouring going on towards LV!
Make stargates lockable by alliances too so that there is no risk of anyone getting through ganksquad to claimed space to try to reap some of those rewards too.
They get in, they use it... Tough luck. Try to adjust as people usually say.
They are relatively safe inside complex, same as your milksquads when they go in.

Lets just go for removing them LV do not need them we just go after the RA in there.
I change mine the idea to once sov has been taken this closes the complex.
End of my participation in this thread too many RA and such sympathisers derailing the idea for constructive discussion.

Make the keys spawn at random times after you enter the first level . You could have to wait 10 minutes to an hour for the key to the next level making actually fighting over that key possible and not just the person who spams their login button quickest after dt gets it . To be honest for the isk making potential of complexes in 0.0 you SHOULD have to fight over them and they make too mush isk per hour anyway so a longer wait in the first stage for the key would balance it .

I think removing all safety in all complexes in all sec space would be a fantastic idea if if restrictions were tightened on the ships entering the complex and perhaps age limits were introduced.
If a 1/10 complex could only be entered by a t1 frig pilot under 3 months , 2/10 frig destroyer. 3/10 cruiser etc this game would open more pvp opportunities for low skilled players to compete against others from the week they join eve.
It is possible for dedicated players to pvp in their trial, but a lot of the chances are left to pirating, blobbing or being a tackler. I think if complexes were like this then new players could experience pvp from the start without the misconception that you need 2 months of learning skills and t2 ships before you can shoot anyone else.
I think that this might help a lot of players experience a side of the game that they wouldnt do otherwise.

I'd suggest a way of working with the complex holders, even if NPC ones (and also the ability of building your own complexes) rather than simply preventing ppl from entering a complex that is actually hostile to you.
However, it would take too long time complete that idea, so I'll just put it in the cba shelf.

protect your space or let them use it, you can expect ccp to change the game mechanics just because you cant stop people doing your complex, do it before they do maybe?

Constructive?? Discussion? My pretty ass.
What you ar alsking for is for CCP to change the game because you are unable to prevent something you dont like from happening.
It lovely for all you alliance blob bunnies to claim the the space is "Ours" but it seems that you are unable to back your claims up at all.
As any NPC rattr worth his salt(and my main is one thank you very mucH) will tell you, once you are past the gatecamp you are safer in alliance space than in empire. I have often spent weeks behind alliance lines, the most danger i have been in was from other "Neutrals" out there with me.
Just dont try to put up a pos in the systems that nobody has ever mined before, dont ry to develop your territories by puting up public outposts or even by chargeing docking tax. Just sit on your stupid little gatecamp and gank those who are dumb enough not to use an alt scout....Claim away as much as you like, until alliances are able to police the area they claim as theirs, there words are nothing but hot air and a blobfest.
To the OP: You really dont see anything wrong with your idea at all do you? It s like living a block away from the local playground and getting P-offed cause other kids like to use the swings too.
As far as I am concerned, any group with the Chutzpah and the organisation to infiltrate a plex running gang all the way deep into Alliance "Held"(ha farkin ha) territory, are the ones who deserve the love from the GM's Not some Blowhards who are unable to put their money where their mouth is.
The saddest part of the carebear mentality is the inability to unite against a common foe in a effective way.

removing keys from 9/10 complexes would b the easy solution, and a good one too.
andother solution would b to have complexes, after completed randomly spawn in that region.
would stop that campers and make the situation a litle more interesting - Purple Conquered The World, We the Universe.

Edited by: **** KN0CKER on 30/06/2006 13:09:02 Edited by: My mother on 30/06/2006 13:06:47 Hey cool, in this thread we get to pick on LV. Maybe it is just natural progression, BoB have had several (thousand) threads, now it's time to jump on LV - but hey, lets face it, they have brought up an idea, albeit not one that will probably be paid any attention by CCP as it doesnt benefit them. Obviously the RA alt army will slag off this idea... jeez, imagine if you did have to hold sovreignty for a complex in order to do it... lets just say a certain online auction company would have less to offer
I think it's great that you can get some characters, log them in a high yielding complex system, just use them for farming, log them again and only use them for this purpose. In the mean time, buy new chars with the copious amounts of isk earnt and not 'exchanged' for other currencys.

I think complex's should remain as they are... Its not technically your complex, its actually the sansha's, the angels, the serpentis, or whomever.
You dont control the pirate factions, nor should you.
From a non RP look, a complex is a great source of cash to whomever digs into it. Sure an alliance can horde it for massive amounts of cash and faction loot, others using that complex are merely invaders cutting off one source of your cashflow. Id call it a siege tactic more than anything, or pirating. Bleeding your enemy dry while stealing cash in their region...etc.
In other words, keep plex's as is. Allowing plex's to only be used by an alliance with sov in that region just further reduces alliance warfare into a state of "Who can amass more ships and deploy them faster".
Just keep the damn plex's as is.

Oh my, it was a simple suggestion, and the alts come out of the wood work.
TBH, as I said to start with, many alliances are finding this to be a problem.
A small team of 4-5 ships waiting for the server to reboot and then every 6.2345743 hours (I'm sure they have timed it to the second) logon to cruise through the complex.
Sure, an alliance can have a team there after DT, or every 6.2345743 hours, but camping it 23/7 isn't really feasible, you get bored to tears after a while. And when you leave the system the complex runners (I normally use another term but that would get moderated) just log on and do it again.
You have about 10 minutes, if that, to catch them in the first level, after they are in the second level they are immune.
I am actually surprised because one of the posts implies that other complexes don't required keys to get through to the next level. This can't be right, can it ?
Rod's suggestion has it's merits, but then people could just fly through the complex to the last level and miss out the rest.
DS's solution on the otherhand wouldn't just affect complex systems but any controlled space, which IMO would be a good thing. It has to be said though, that the enemy force would just go to the nearest non controlled system and logoff there, but thats what controlling space is all about, making sure that there are very few places where someone could hide.
Although I am a member of LV, I have heard of this "plex problem" from other alliances in all regions of space, and I didn't post this on LV's behalf or anywhere near it.
Of course I could have posted with an alt, but I don't see the point, but others seem only fit to reply with their alts, otherwise I think this thread would be full of RA saying "noooo, we can't control space, don't take the plexes away from us just because we can't control space".
As for those talking of RP aspects, the only reply that can be made is: ROFL
RP in 0.0 where alliance warfare is concerned ? Be real. --

The serpentis complex has its last three levels branching off from the previous level. 3 levels drop keys, but only 2 are needed to get to the final one. The first fwe levels do not require keys but require all npc's to be killed.
This type os setup allows people to combat within the complex untill one of the contending teams gets to enter the last level. There's a fwe points on which you can wait for contenders to warp back into you after finishing one of the intermediary levels, you can block the gate to the final level, you can fight in any of the intermediary levels etc.
A setup like that allows for far better competition over the complex. The first 40mins or so of the minimum time needed to do it are open to pvp, probably a bit more even.
You can do the same by collecting enough spare keys btw, if your complexes drop spare keys. As said, the serpentis one actually drops one spare key per full run, making it far easier to keep a fwe at hand in case you need to chase someone out.

LMAO... you've got to be kidding me... the OP effectively posted a whine about not being able to protect and limit access to plexes in 'his' space... the only conclusion to this is tough ****... can't protect it..its not really yours is it ?
And as far as a constructive discussion goes I think it ended the minute the OP suggested developping a mechanism for an established alliance to limit access to its ressources for lack of the will or ability to defend it... its a whine and a pure demonstartion of inability...nothing more... and certainly nothing constructive here

complexes are great, and conflicts with small corps over who get them are great as well.
Eve is PvP, and nothing brings out PvP more than a furious fight over scarce resources, which is exactly what complexes are.
The only changes I could think of are: - Remove the entrance requirements in terms of skill-levels. - Remove all the keys, anyone can enter any level. If you want the plex you gonna have to fight over it, not just be the first to login and make it through the first level. - And to make it more honest for players in other TZs, move the respawn around a bit.
Beyond that, it should be a massive free-for-all fight.

Its a bit harder than that.
A while back, when we still had control of West Catch, we had a problem with a bunch of alts running the 10/10 complex there. They would log on every single day just after DT and run the complex. They'd log immediately if threatened, however they also did the complex very quickly, so it was hard to get a fleet together in time and move fast enough to catch them before they were done with the plex. And when you finally got them... they would be gone.
It takes work, and its possible, but its not really easy.

I still like this idea. So they'd have to find the complex and move their battleships to the new location. That means also an advantage to the people, who have some control over the region.
