What did you pick before you picked Caldari? Since you have to play the game before you can get into a corp to get a CEO =P ---
Lisento Slaven wants to be a Space Whaler in EVE.

In regards to caldari appealing to the "less...", maybe you need to rethink that. The Caldari appeal to most people because they are the only ones that they can relate to "most" the time. They look the most like "normal" people, and relate the most to the playerbase IRL.
Somehow that's totally off. Caldari by description are the embodyment of ultranationalism thrown in with a complete lack of social responsibility, single minded consumerism and dictatorial bodies of government.
Do people even read the description of Caldari? It says stuff like:
Quote: The Caldari State offers its citizens the best and the worst in living conditions. As long as you keep in line, do your job, uphold the laws and so forth, life can be fairly pleasant and productive. But for those who are not cut out for this strict, disciplined regime life quickly becomes intolerable. They lose their respect, family, status, everything, and the only options left to them are suicide or exile.
It would be downright frightning if the majoritiy of people in eve could most relate to that, because it would mean that we have an entire game full of people that kind of like all the idea of ... fascism!!
Caldari are pretty much fascists, except instead of being ruled by one dictator they are ruled by an oligarchy of corperate entities that have no single mind behind them, but are controlled from behind the scenes by the most wealthy people.
Now I'm not saying you shouldn't play Caldari, afterall Amarr are religious fanatics and that's ok if you just play them in a game. I just don't like how people think they can relate to the caldari on a political level. If you are a person that enjoys values remeniscent of the United States and Western Europe then your political ideology is most embodied by the Gallente Federation.

Sounds exactly like where most of the 'developed' nations in the world are heading, with the US leading the pack.
I don't think most people pick their race in EVE by who they can relate with the most, for most people it's a question of which race best fits their style of play and which race is the 'coolest' (with what's cool being different for each person). And they're the easiest to start with, as turrets are much more complicated than missiles and the high number of mid slots gives their ships a lot of versatility. Missiles also take less time to train than turrets and are pretty effective right off the bat, whereas turrets need a lot of additional skills to really make the most of them.

Edited by: Clementina on 08/07/2006 02:55:00 When people say "Why are the Caldari better?" it might actually be better to answer the question, "Why is the Caldari State the best of the major empires?" For we all are from the same humanity, Caldari are not so much better, more like more enlightened.
And I say, it's not because of the Raven, or because of percision torpedos, or any easy mode, but rather, becasue the citizens of the State use their minds to think deep. The State has a government that is of money by money and for money, without having senators that can be bought cheeply. It has a people who are wealthy, but are not venel and decadent. Its CEO's guarentee the best life anywhere, if you don't screw around.
Some might describe the State as fascism, and maybe it is. But The State hasn't bombarded a world, it dosn't attempt to subvert the culture of surrounding peoples in secret. It has no racism, no rationing, no wars of conquest, and no death camps. It's fascism, but without the parts that suck.
We should all endevour to be like the Caldari.

Edited by: Noriath on 08/07/2006 04:11:04 Caldari have all the parts of fascism that suck.
They celebrate a guy that crashed a carrier into Nouvelle Rouvenor killing millions of civilians as a war hero.
They destroy people who don't want to adhere by all the rules of their dictatorial governments.
You have no choice in what you do for a living, you are a slave to the giant corperations for your entire life.
Caldari aren't the good guys in eve, they are the ultimate force of conformism, ultranationalism and consumerism...
Sure they have their own appeal, but they are far from not having any flaws... :D

No issue, no debate. Wow has it similar. Alliance = "Easy" mode Horde = "Hard" mode

In games, there are winners, and there are whiners. Doesn't matter what faction/race you pick, you can't change who you are by how you create your character.

Indeed. When you come right down to it, most Caldari pilots moving along their life and acting naturally (which is to say, when they are not pitted into a near-event driven RP situation where they are forced to think actively how they would react as a Caldari pilot) actually adhere to the Gallentean or Minmatarian¦ ideals.
¦ I consider Minmatar to be a culture rapidly developing towards socialist democracy ideals and standards¦ New sig coming soonÖ By "soon" I do not necessarily mean "this year" |

Awww come on, give them some credit. They did manage to figure out how get all that range on their missiles using their ego's as fuel.
They haven't got the formula right yet though, if it was used to it's max, they could fire a missile in Venal and hit someone in Catch.

That explains alot! Not only I made mistake one time, I made it twice! I want easy gaming but always choose hard mode. Why, oh why!
Unnerf Amarr! "Just because you can utterly ruin another player's game doesn't mean that you must."
