CCP Hammer	Posted - 2006.07.20 16:07:00 - [1] During downtime today a small change was made to escrow logging to help the GMs do their jobs better. Unfortunately a bug slipped in that allowed nefarious players to ôwinö EVE. The bug has been fixed and the winners through a bit of database magic have been turned into losers. We deeply regret any setbacks in your plans for world domination that may have been cause by this most heinous emergency downtime.

Three things 1) Its astounding to find the words ''I hope it gets fixed soon'' or something to that end, two reply's down from this statement and thread post. It is why i rarely if ever use forums this behaviour and worse seems to me to be the signature of forum mentality. This is sad because the idea of a forum is great. 2) If it is fixed why isn't the server up? 3) ''Win eve'' seems to me to be a glazing over of information as it means nothing literally. There is something about this situation that is strange. Let me on!! Just back from hard day work!! let me on !! hehe

I can take losing traning time when I'm not around or careless but I was here all along believing the hype of there being something quick about it. This is not one of those rare instances where we are going to give out details. Sometimes, acknowledging there is a bug in a certain area of the game code is enough to give exploiters a hint of how to take advantage of the bug. Suffice it to say the bug was severe enough for us to take the server down for a short time in an effort to fix the issue and take care of the exploiters. A company not explaining what the exploits were all about in detail is common. It covers a number of bases in many different situations and is the best action to take for them no matter what. Wonder how much of the net in the UK here is not working at anywhere near optimal due to the heat? Secondly, they say it hasn't been this hot for 400 years (what caused it last time?).... I remember about 15 years ago when the roads melted.... took me ages to dig the tar out of my bike wheel treads (they looked like a fresh pair of slicks having gone a few meters on my way back home - I could also leave the push-bike standing upright without a stand due to the wheels sinking slightly into the tar of the road). Anywho, only time will tell what gives, but it might be worth checking if it's CCP or someone between you and CCP's servers who are to blame. I'm in Australia, and had the same trouble, I've just reset my wireless router, rebooted my modem and I've got straight in. Hope this helps someone else out. This done it for me, after this i got another IP from my ISP and since this i could connect again.
