Vincent Athena wrote:I tried this in the last mass test and it looks good, except for one issue.
Consider: I load in player#1's settings and they are bad So I try player#2's settings, and they are also bad. Might as well restore my settings, so I hit "restore"....and get player#1's settings. No problem, I'll just use the history....but my original settings are not in the history! Only the settings Ive loaded in!
And now, I'm lost. I have to rebuild my overview from scratch, even though the new system was supposed to make that unnecessary.
Suggestion: If my history is empty, then my current overview settings are automatically saved there as the first entry.
This strikes me as a very bad oversight on CCP's part. They build the feature but don't consider actual, real-world usage as you've described. I 100% agree that the system should automatically save your current settings as your first profile.
A reply of "but you can just export them first!" doesn't help. The GUI should protect you against negative consequences of an action that you DIDN'T know, and weren't told, could HAVE negative consequences. It's a simple fix, in this case. Please CCP, implement this suggestion. |

No. XML is. Wordy, irritating, and a resource hog to process.

Is it possible to have a beter way to Manage your Overview Presets? ATM its quite crappy to set up Presets due to the bad saving mechanisem. It woud begrate to have a Dropdown menue with all the saved Overview Presets in the Overview Settings window |

Actually, no, Yaml is far worse. If you absolutely needed to get away form strict XML, then use XAML, at least its more of a standard than YAML is. |

Polite or not, your belief that XML is more process heavy is actually kind of silly. They are both text files that have to be parsed linearly. XAML is XML with hierarchy and structure, just like YAML, but without the ridiculous nomenclature.
Oh sure, the php kiddies like YAML, but seriously, it has no traction in the real world. |

shave your neckbeard for god's sake. Regardless of your opinion it will be YAML in the here and now no matter how much you try to denigrate this effort. It will not affect your daily life and the quality of your EVE playing will only get better. |

I didn't see the booster timer mentioned in either devblog or the Hyperion Features page. Is it still on the table or has it been pulled?
It is another awesome feature I'm looking forward to. |

Awesome.
Just wonder a few things: 1. If you have someone blocked (say for example out of the blue - an ISK doubler in Jita) and they start going to town with linking their overview in chat, do I still see it? 2. If someone (say for example, totally random - a chat spammer in Jita) starts linking his overview multiple times in chat - does the server record it only the once or each time the hyped-up person hits that enter button like it was the firing button for a battlecruiser facing the armada?
Thanks I believe in being Pro-Active as Opposed to Reactive. Reactive tends to be more costly in time and money.

Well this should make my life so much easier! Thanks!
Any chance you will be making, bookmarking Safespots easier in the future? It is not exactly hard now, just it never seems to make the bookmark where I want it.
I would really like an upgrade to my navigation computer where I could just tell it I want to go so far in the X,Y,Z directions and it takes me there. Heck, just let me tell my ship to go X number of km or AU in the direction I'm currently pointed would work. ( I would then have to figure out how to ship beer or a case of beer equivalent to Iceland.) |

Dear Devs,
I welcome the ability to share overview settings, but please overhaul overview behaviours. For example, when you deselect all of the filter states and only select the equivalent of "show criminals" you also need to enable a host of other filters in order to see the globally flagged criminals in the overview. I expected that a pilots global criminal state was independent of constraints like globally neutral, etc.
Sincerely, Abel Baxter |

Can we please, PLEASE have the ability to add capital letters into our overview names? There is no reason for them to be all lower case. :( Because the Legacy Code has too much Psssssssssssssssh, nothing will ever get fixed until CCP stop wasting money on failed sparkle MMOs and instead rewrite the entire backend of EvE from scratch. |

Regarding linking OV settings, please also make it possible to define an OV setting using IGB javascript method. That would make it possible for us to create OV setting stores and open them with a single click. I would love to have something like CCPEVE.overviewSetting() :)

Good point... when we did the d-scan changes not too long ago, we wanted to try out something like that, but the way the overview presets were set up made it very hard and we decided we should rather focus on the actual task at hand. Now when we have done some refactoring, the presets might actually be easier to use there, so maybe we should look into that again [/quote]

Mixed. I like the possibility to persist settings in-game, but I dislike the all-or-nothing behavior. The overview settings and the different tabs are and should be highly individual, that intentionally overwriting them all at once IMO is the 5% case. People will start importing others overviews without reflection and deep knowledge of the details. This will reduce the awareness and can be even dangerous if for example your GTFO settings, you are trained for, are changed every time you join a new player group favoring their own settings. I'm my own NPC alt. |

Thanks 1. This change has nothing to do with that. 2. We are logging linking and clicking, but there is also some caching involved there so clicking the link multiple times will not hit the server every time. The overview profiles are on a separate server node, so that shouldn't even impact the rest of the server. CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pirate Unicorns |-á@CCP karkur |

The simplest example of this would be to remove planets and wrecks from d-scan when doing anomalies in wormspace to reduce clutter and focus on detecting incoming ships and probes. The other "Tower Finder" perset for d-scan may invovle only towers, planets and moons only. |
